    Hey, do you know how the sunlight (or fluorescent bulbs) can influence in
    the circuit? I've been testing around these suspicious environments and
    the polarity of the IR sensor seems to be inverted. That's weird.

      It's not really inverted . in situations where there is a higher degree of IR the IR sensor will by default sense IR from the direct sources such as Sunlight or bulbs...now the IR from the reflection of obstacle is lower. Hence the logic seems to be reversed. Ideally in such situations go for ultrasonic sensors such as HC SR04

    I did exactly as shown , but as soon as I connect the battery the led glows and buzzer rings , and the IR sensors don't work . So what has to be the problem ? And also can make it right or I'll have to work on again?

      Just reverse the orientation of the photodiode (black)

    Nice project there! Noticed a mistake in the circuit diagram: the IR photodiode should have been in a reversed polarity if I am not wrong ;)

    i connected all the components in the correct order as per circuit dia but when I connect the battery...instantly the buzzer and led starts buzzing...if any correction in the circuit dia pls mail it to me. pls its too urgent.

      Everyone this circuit does not work because it is WRONG. the photodiode must be placed in REVERSE BIAS. otherwise current will always flow through the diode and the voltage at the positive pin of the comparator (LM358) will always be higher than the voltage at the negative pin and hence the output will always be high.
      This means the IR emitted by the led will have 0 effect on the photodiode. ALSO WHEN MAKING YOU MUST MAKE SURE THE IR PAIR IS CALIBRATED FOR EACHOTHER. you cannot purchase a random photo diode and random ir emitter

      You should add one BC547 Transistor with receiver to amplify the voltage gaining from receiver, the circuit isn't working because the voltage is too low to work & satisfy LM358 comparison principle.

      @@leoworld8795 nopes..laptop charger is close to 20 V. What you need is a 9v adaptor. You must probably buy it as these can't be found for any other devices in our house.

      if its in a room with the tubelight on, the tubelight emits a low amnt of ir which is taken by the ir reciever

      No. The ic is not a microcontroller.... it is an analog operational amplifier that acts as a comparator...

    Tapendra Mandel...Nice video but how can your circuit be working when u have connected the photodiode in Forward bias ( photodiodes only work in reverse bias) Also in your lfr video schematic you have correctly connected the photodiode in reverse bias.

      +sameer Rajput prefer circuit diagram..which is absolutely correct...i made a little mistake while designing breadboard Diagram pin2 of IC should be connected to node of receiver..

    Tapenda I have a question I made your proximity sensor and when I put the battery in and turn the potentiometer it goes on in auto without me touching the sensors it’s on and won’t stop what wrong I did everything you did

    You should add one BC547 Transistor with receiver to amplify the voltage gaining from receiver, the circuit isn't working because the voltage is too low to work & satisfy LM358 comparison principle.

    LM385 and LM385P are they same..? I'm using LM385 and in the video IC is labeled as LM385P.. Just curious

    can this sensor work on electricity produced by a water tap ?
    actually i wanted to make a inverted sensor which is fitted at tip of tap and blinks when there is no hand in range and does not blink when there is a hand in range. this will save water as we will not forget to close taps.
    so i want to get it worked by electricity produced by water.
    is this possible for it ?
    or just tell minimum electricity required to run it...

    i had using a IR sensor in a project.which detects the object infront of the sensor in some distance by adjust the sensitivity of the sensor range(POTENTIOMETER).
    Here, i had a problems after few minutes,
    1. I had remove the object infront of the sensor which is detect that the object (always on).
    what is the reason for that problems?
