  • This video will discuss tips on how to get an American passport for a child (minor) without the permission from a parent. There a variety of reasons why you may be having difficulty getting a passport for your child(ren) as a single parent. My younger daughter's father was not in the country. I had no way of communicating with him in the time frame I needed to get my daughter's passport so we could travel to Europe. I was able to have her passport successful completing and submitted. It was approved and arrived in less than 3 weeks. It's important to start your application process a minimum of 3 months (12 weeks) in advance of your planned vacation/holiday so if there is any issues it can be fixed in time. The total cost/ fee for a child (minor) passport is $115.
The processing time for a minor passport application with both consenting parents is much faster. My eldest daughter's passport was approved and arrived about 1 weeks after I submitted the application and fees.
    How To Apply
    1- Appointment via phone 877-487-2778 8am-10pm Mon - Fri
    2- Appointment via web www.travel.sta...

I'm so happy to have come across this page.
I'm in the same situation of wanting to get my daughter's PP
so I can travel with them internationally.
Their DB/MIA dad pops up and call out the blue every blue moon and I've mentioned needing his signature/ consent to help get their PP's
But this fool is so stubborn and selfish that he will not waiver.
I explained the process will be much easier for me if he just goes with me to sign the documents but he will not budge and he verbally admitted he will not sign.
    (Talk about frustrated and disgusted)
So now I'm wondering how hard the process will be to go thru by filing without him?
I have all the documents needed not to mention a plethora of texts to him about the request at hand.
Any advice given will be gladly appreciated!❤❤❤

The title for this vid is Messy as heck. And the Optics (two Black children) coupled with the narrative "Without the no good Black father's permission, cause you don't need him anyway, girrrl" is not a healthy look. If scrolled through other "Baby/kids Passport" vids and No other community has done this optic.... Please try again.

Hello! 😊 I discovered your channel today 12/10/22 I’m new sub!
I have been a single mother for 14 years, the sperm donor has never been present in our son's life, no child support, We have never received anything from him, he did not recognize my son when he was born, absolutely nothing, simply because he has never been interested in recognizing his son and wanting to be present in his life.
I went to apply for my and my son's passport last year, the agent asked me about his father and told me that his father need to sign the doc. and I told her that my son’s "dad" never recognized my baby, that my son has his last name simply because I decided to, and I asked that agent if I could travel to any other country without the need for his “father” signature or authorization, his signature does not appear on my son's birth certificate. And her answer was: YES I can travel everywhere without a problem, because his father NEVER was, never been in the picture, and I have the legal custody.
So I went through the whole process with her so easy and smoothly, and after about 4 months I received our US passports, that made me very happy!
I can’t wait to travel with my son for the first time, we live in Florida, but I really want to learn to travel alone with him for the first time, I'm afraid to do it, but I want to dare, even next year before July 1st we have to move from this apartment, if I don't find anything better, something cheaper, I'm willing to move to another state like Alabama, Georgia, whatever the cost of living is lower. I'm glad I found your channel, I need a lot of guidance and learning, been a single mom is not easy at all, and I want to live beautiful and new experiences with my son, before he turns 18!
    Thanks 🤗

      @TheTravelingMomBoss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I would recommend asking him first if he will sign the passport application. He does need to be physically present and sign in front of someone at the post office. I am also from NY. Since he is paying child support you can definitely locate him so you would unfortunately need him to be present. If he is not willing to be present, you can tell him you need the passport for another reason other than traveling, that's important enough for him to want to be present.

    • @TheTravelingMomBoss

Im sorry for my delayed response. The first option is to have him sign the form which states he give permission for his son to travel. He would need to have that form notarized. You can fax or email it to him. The second option is to put on the application that you can't locate him. The first is a little easier in my opinion but it's up to you.

If you have a custody or restraining that will also help you. You will need to have the form DS- 5525 which you will use to indicate why the other parent is unavailable.

Is he on the birth certificate? If so you can use the birth certificate for proof of relationship. Any type of ID would suffice for him...even an expired one. He also needs to be present when you go to your appointment. Make sure you bring your ID and social security card. You can also call 1-877-487-2778 ask questions to be more comfortable before going to your appointment.
