I find MakerLab very useful. I have very modest design skills ... but I am working on improving those. Using the tools on MakerLab are design steps at a basic level. Rather than using a traditional CAD tool you are using the design tools provided. I also appreciate the paramedic modeler (OpenSCAD) which allow me to quickly customize a part. If I need to make changes I can download the script and edit.
Although I use CAD to design, I think makerlab is useful for those that have no modeling skills. It's also handy if you're making something simple and just don't want to model it I suppose.

I love maker lab ! As a 3d printer hobbiest I almost always find what I need

Useful? not for me, at least not the ones that convert a picture to anything, never works for me.
