    I picked up the vr09 over ghe nord electro for its ability to split easily. However, I'm having difficulty splitting an organ and piano- organ as lead and piano as split. I can do it as piano as lead and organ as split, but not vice versa. Can you help?

    So I'm watching this video in 2020 and this question regards the newer VR-09B. I want to connect a MIDI keyboard to this one. If that keyboard had sliders or other controls, would I be able to use those? (For example, could I use a Roland A-800's sliders as lower manual drawbars?)

    Can I split the range and load 1 organ sound to the left and another to the right? Even better: I'd like to play the chords on a separate controller (left hand/chords..) and play the main organ sound on the Vr9. Is this possible and if so: what controller features the same- if not - VERY similar keys as the Vr9? Big THX !!!!

    Can you layer more than two sounds at a time ?

    • @synthof
      @synthof 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably no; Roland fa 06- juno ds and xps 30 can do that, you can layer or split keyzone up to 16 sounds, which is called timbres also, this function is also included in Korg krome - Kross 1- 2 and of course Kronos series

    Is it possible to mono ouput the sounds separately in split mode? (Bass->output L, piano->ouput R) ?

    Some owners are reporting that the expression pedal can’t be used separately for layered sounds. I mean you can’t fade the volume of an organ in over the top of a piano without effecting the piano as well. Will this be fixed with an OS update?

    For you and sonandmusic1 - looks like you can change the octave of the organ with firmware update, and also expression pedal can be applied to separate parts: roland.com/support/article/?q=downloads&p=VR-09&id=63055093

    Just bought a VR-09 pretty disappointed to find out that it cannot split AND layer simultaneously like my 31 year old technics keyboard. (EX: bass/piano&strings) I would think that would be pretty standard for modern keyboards.
    Otherwise a great instrument.

    What if i want to layer 2 piano sounds and one of them +12 transpose?

    • @mcgrape1
      @mcgrape1 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s doable, just use the screen to select the sound you want and change it. Can be a touch fiddly until you get used to it. Volume and transpose can be adjusted for each of the two sounds. 👍

    is it true that when u split organ/piano u cant change the octave of the organ?

    • @thefatass500
      @thefatass500 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You CAN change the octave of each split half separately. At lease this is true in the case of the newer model, the VR-09B.

    When I use the split function I can't use the effects on them seperately! That is a huge flaw which makes splits useless

    no one ever shows how the sustain pedal, expression pedal,etc works and sounds.
    even on all the other brands like hammond sk1-73,,, etc.

    Seems two sounds from the same synth subcategory cannot be used together. In other words if you want two different pads layered or split it’s a no go. Also if you want transistor and tonewheel organ (in case you get requests for van Morrison monkees medleys for instance) thats a nope as well.
    I can understand the machine not being robust enough to do these things. It’s frustrating not finding an answer about it. Feels like Roland has sort of a don’t ask don’t tell policy regarding limitations that are obviously going to be sniffed out by pros. You shouldn’t have to be finding out that midi cc1 can’t be sent via the paddle only after searching for two hours on forums where some angel in the forum cloud found out the hard way and shared with the rest of us. I’ve tried and Id be delighted to be proven wrong about all this.

      You actually can layer two sounds of the same type (except organ and drums). Here's how I do it. Let's say you want 2 different synth leads. First, press the Synth Lead button and any other instrument button simultaneously, so you get a normal layered sound. For this example let's say I pressed Lead and Bass. So the Lead will be in instrument channel 1 and the Bass is channel 2. Next, use the cursor (down arrow) to highlight channel 2. Then, just press the Synth Lead button, and voila. You should now have 2 separate synth lead layers that you can change the sounds of as normal. This will work for every instrument button in the Piano and Synth banks. Sadly you still won't be able to get those layered organ sounds you want, but I hope this trick helps!

    Why does it sound cheap? and I like to hear more split work

    • @evankeal
      @evankeal 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does in a way, I think it's that the sounds are in there, but the audio path out, and maybe the fx loop as well, insert a lot of sound degradation. It's possible a direct USB connection and bypassing fx, and not layering, removes this perceived sound I was thinking all along.

    Is there a way to assign the sustain pedal to the left hand split? I can only get the pedal to work on the right hand voice
