@@mariuszpudzianowski8400 It's easy to mock beginners with a grandmaster near us to explain every mistake. Actually, the second Danya's play partner showed very adequate and reasonable chess - of course, not a master or even a club level, but there is no reason to deny him of intelligence.
one of the things I love about Danya is that he never talks down to his opponents. He understands that everyone is at a different level and he always is careful to take players seriously, even when he's obviously far above their level.
Haha great catch which tells me yuo listen carefully...yes I agree with spark5010, I meant to say two pieces can easily combine to threaten checkmate and in certain special situations (like Q + N vs Q + B, Queen and Knight is a notoriously dangerous combo) can definitely combine for mating attacks but it's rare and almost unheard of for two pieces to mount and conduct a successful attack in the opening/middlegame without any other support.
I just wanted to say that it is great to see you put out more content again! I hope this means that you are in a better and more stable place mentally! Lots of love!
In general Danya improved his mentality over the years - he titls less, handles pressure (against Hikaru, Magnus etc) much better and overall seems to be happier. Love to see it!
These videos are incredible. I enjoy and learn from the quickfire game-after-game chessbrah speedruns, love them, but yours offer something very different and it's great to have both "formats" available.
Chessvibes is another good channel to add to your list - even though he's lower rated (CM) he's a good teacher and does a lot of videos analyzing puzzles and important concepts, not just speedruns.
Anyone reading this who is around 1,000. The key takeaways from this video are: Learn solid opening theory, not garbage sidelines. Don’t bring the Queen out for an early checkmate. It will work on weaker players but doesn’t help you get better as a player. Lastly, understand the consequences of pushing pawns and how pawn structure affects the position. Oh and watch for trapped pieces.
"Never judge a move by whether it's an advancing move or a retreating move". Noted! That move shown at 23:09 was indeed out of my radar, and I realized, among many other heuristic flaws, that it's because I dislike retreating.
Dania - My opponent sees this pin and is already aiming an attack on this undefended pawn planning to mate me in 3 moves. 800 elo player - Queen is my strongest piece so ill just move it here and hope my oponent blunders something.
Some of the most amazing chess lessons on TH-cam..... For free! Thank you Danya for the great content. These videos are my favorite to watch. I learn so much! It makes me want to quit my job, hire you as a chess coach, and become a grandmaster! 😅
After being able to catch some streams live I really see that teacher Danya and player Danya are two different people. Insanely aggresive and tactical when he's not doing instructional content - and a fucking speed demon too.
Third game is a perfect example of a beginner that is just starting to understand the power of the queen and so they bring her out to early in the game allowing the opponents to develop with tempo on the queen.
13:13 “there’s no magic in chess. You can’t checkmate an entire army with two pieces.” Danya clearly hasn’t seen the games I’ve lost. I find a way somehow.
13:13 "There's no magic in chess" - Daniel says, whilst inspiring thousands to think of chess as the most magical game ever made. "You can't checkmate an entire army with 2 pieces." Maybe - but if you want to learn how to checkmate with a single knight, then check out the latest endgame video! 🐴
15:34 I did indeed investigate it on my own and actually white is worse after Qg4! (You didn't suggest it but you put it OTB) Which looks logical because its the same approach as the Qg4 in the pin variation of the Sicilian, here it fails because of Nxc3, and Qxg7 is losing because we've already pushed our c pawn, so na4+ can't be met with c3 and works as an intermezzo dropping a full piece. If Nxc3 a3 can be met with bf8, and white's going to lose a pawn after some Qe7 d6. Nxc3 Bd2 0-0 same thing. So apparently white should play Qf3 or Qd5 *investigation continues*....
Still not sure why people insist that beginners shouldn't study openings. When it comes to understanding positions and schemes, there's really no amount of tactics and puzzles that could have done the same for me.
Daniel a big ask for you. If you could call out all the moves, opponents’ as well please. That would allow me to listen to your videos and practice visualisation
1:45 A fun little thing that may happen here (specially on lower elo gameplay) is Nc6 Qxg7 Qf6 Bh6 Completely winning position for white. I've seen people take the bishop with the knight and blunder the queen, I've seen people rarely waste a move & blunder checkmate with the queen bishop battery. If they take the queen with their queen they lose the rook to the bishop.
The real secret is KIA - against French, Caro (yes you can play that setup and people have no idea what to do) or just main lines. Dubious according to engines but so fun to play.
Danya chess is my favorite hobby and I am also learning Russian, are there any good books or resources that would help me out? You are my biggest inspiration right now to become an amazing chess player and Russian speaker. Спасибо за все, что ты делаешь!
@Daniel Naroditsky do you know if Levitov is planning to add ENG subs to the recent conversation with you? It would be really interesting to listen to it.
2:48 Is f4 Qh4+ g3 bad? It hits the knight and the queen. As I finished writing that I just saw that it hangs Nf3+ forking our queen. Nf3+ Kd1 Nxd4 gxh4 maybe is okay? No reason to allow it but maybe there's counterplay with the open g-file idk. Stonkfish says it's -0.22 in blacks favor after Nf3+ Kf2 Nxd4 gxh4 Nxc2 Nd5. Still no reason to play f4 since we can just develop with Bf4 instead
Why is the center fork trick bad? Played right you both lose a pawn and knight. You move the bishop back to protect the knight then take the pawn after it takes the knight. Ok nvm you explained it after a while after looking at random other moves lol. But then calling the bishop coming out an inaccuracy seems like a stretch to me
King moves to f8, white still has an advantage (engine Eval was 1.9 on fairly low depth). You just have to be careful not to take the Knight too early or you might get mated.
Beginner level: "We're starting to see, you know, signs of life from our opponents." Lmao
Hey, I'm in the 800 range and I resemble this remark
Still no intelligent lifeforms found around that level, but Danya is working to make it happen.
That fr how the games been lately 😭

13:15: "You can't check mate an entire army with two pieces"
Exactly 13:15 longer into the video: "All it takes is two pieces to threaten checkmate"
Ha I noticed the same thing…even though the positions are totally different they still seem a bit like conflicting statements
Makes sense right? First position is indeed an entire army of pieces, second position there is only a rook left. Nothing conflicting about that.
He meant it like 2 pieces just make a threat but can be easily dealt with...
He only had 3 pieces at that point
Haha great catch which tells me yuo listen carefully...yes I agree with spark5010, I meant to say two pieces can easily combine to threaten checkmate and in certain special situations (like Q + N vs Q + B, Queen and Knight is a notoriously dangerous combo) can definitely combine for mating attacks but it's rare and almost unheard of for two pieces to mount and conduct a successful attack in the opening/middlegame without any other support.
I’m around 1900 and still find these videos entertaining and instructive. There are always a few nuggets of strategy in there.
I fall asleep to these videos so often, but I swear I am getting better at chess in my dreams.
danya deserves 1 million subscribers
He honestly really does, I have nothing but love for danya, even watching these Lower level games I'm still learning from them surprisingly
True
It is like I am having a conversation with Danya. I say something, he immediately explains, why it is not a good move. Love it!

"Let's get cute" as if Danya isn't already the cutest chess teacher ❤
Like the 3 games in one video, more games the better
It kinda has to be multiple games because these low rated players self destruct pretty quickly.
That’s because these games are very short. But I agree it’s great

That Alekhine game is incredible
When Alekhine was drunk he was a very fun player to watch. And he was always drunk.

That was the strongest 900 on this whole planet. I can see myself crying in agony if I ever played that dude when I started playing chess 1 year ago
That last Indian opponent was probly an old Indian guy who was taught old indian chess as a kid.

Awesome example game after the first one. Not only illustrated the lesson, but did so on multiple steps down the line!
that's the strongest 700 I'll ever see. nice class sensei!
As a 1600ish player I can definitely appreciate the Alekhine game and feel it directly ties into that first game. Love to see it! :)
These lessons really help me bring perspective to my own games

Yeah I love how much credit he gives people for their often random moves - but it's very instructive to see some deeper ideas.

Random opponents, and yes they get their elo points refunded.
