I researched the first short in remembrance. Now the question is, did Wilson and wagstaff have a prior connection, or did the moon storms make them real friendly?
I hate that I was not surprised that Wilson's reaction to a literal skeleton under the floorboards was basically "Oh no! Anyway-"

Theory: Wilson is taking notes on the roses at the beginning of the animation because he was suspicious of the rose on Maxwell’s suit at the end of Encore. He’s doing research to see if that rose is the same as the roses Charlie is leaving on the statues.

One cool detail I noticed is that the music that plays when Wilson is in the attic is a remix of the music from Forbidden Knowledge animation, released exactly 10 years ago.

I like how Wilson sees a mysterious machinery with a hologram figure in the middle of a forest and just eagerly follows him. Man, it's been ten years and he has never learned from his mistakes. 😂

I've convinced myself that wagstaff is a relative of some kind, possibly an uncle or older brother (time in the constant is a lil wacky, a bit crazy even) that he looked up to, and that's why he's so obsessed with "science"

@@intrepidturtlesplat-hi1ep I don't think so. Wagstaff is just profoundly knowledgeable about the Constant and way more careful than Wilson concerning the mixture of science and magic. That radio he's carefully mapped out was the one Maxwell used to instruct Wilson on how to make the first portal.
In the end Wag isn't even *in* the Constant, he just projects himself there since the original game

the one thing that got me is we see in the Winona animation that Wagstaff is pulled into the Constant. its not simply a hologram because Winona still has a glove after the portal closes.
I’ve been a fan of this game since I was a kid and seeing Wilson’s house in 2023 compared to 2014 is so amazing, we’ve gone so far!!

@@someone24688 what I like is how this stuff isn’t just flat out told to you. Every medium, game, comics, events/updates, all have a little lore scattered and IMPLIES things.
I just realized something. Wilson is researching roses in the beginning, because he's the only one who noticed Maxwell's new rose from Charlie.
Incredible, I love the expressions and idiosyncrasies we see here on Wilson. Just that little moment when he tossed and caught the key did so much to establish his (over)confident character
really really love the small tuft of hair sticking out at Wilson's profile side, makes him looking more dorky and adorable! the short also gives more mysteries than ever! keep up the awesome work, Klei!
I've gotta say, all these animations bring so much life into the characters we know and love. It's one thing to read a character's quotes or curios for personality, but actually seeing them interact with their surroundings and more interestingly, their troubled pasts, is so incredible.
You've heard it a million times, but thank you so much for this game and the commitment it needed to build up this amazing community!

I really really love the fact that even though the art style shifted towards characters having relatively normal hands and arms that aren't overly stylized Wilson still has the same terrifying inhuman claw things he always did implying this is just a Wilson-specific thing he probably horribly mutated after exposing himself to a million failed experiments.
That's amazing comitment to detail. And a bit concerning. Wilson should definitely get that one checked out.

i love the noticeable improvement in these animations, they are subtle but watching the willow animation and going back to this one... just goes to show how far klei animators have gone throughout this journey!

I once joked about how he will get transmutation. Little did I know, I would be entirely correct.
at the last part showing the attic of the building with the portal Wilson first built still in perfect condition is mind blowing to me, and with a familiar glove toying with the radio's dial just opens more questions but also gives us an answer, we now know how the grainy transmission is getting into and out of the constant
Man these shorts have invested me in the lore of this game more of any other im surprised I don't see more people doing things like this because these are amazing and you still tell the story so well even without words

Love how Wilson, in his flashback, can't see himself without his changed hands from Nightmare throne.
And the terrible realization in his eyes when he understands that this nice old man with interrest for the same hobby than him, the old propriatary of his home, is in reality one of the principal causes of his transfert in the Constant in buildind the emettor (this portail electronic thing) and the receptor (the radio).
It's like if the Constant said him you could never escape from your destiny because, ten years after having been taken by the Constant, you meet the man who builds the thing which will allow Maxwell to interract with Wilson and be kidnapped for ten long years...

This is so GOOD. The animation is so well done and the callback to the first don't starve animation made me feel so happy, not only that but the various leitmotifs from single player don't starve has to be real treat for the older players.
I literally only use Wilson in DS, that's how much I love him. I'm so glad we're getting more story lore!

I love the character interactions between these two. I love both these characters and I hope we get to see a lot more of these interactions in the future! I was 9 years old when I seen the first Wilson short and I started playing this game and I loved it ever since. For the longest time I was wondering how Wilson obtained a Voxola radio, and just chalked it up to him buying one. Now it all makes sense. The skeleton under the floor boards is very mysterious and makes me wonder what kind of experiments Wagstaff has done in that old house. Wilson's reaction to the skeleton was just golden and such a wilson thing to do. Love the animation! This game will always have a special place in my heart.
I haven’t touched Don’t Starve (especially DST) in years, but the animated shorts are why I keep watching
Did Wilson unknowingly move into Wagstaff's old cabin before getting Maxwelled into the Constant? His signature goggles were at the chemistry station, a dead body was in the attic floorboards (can't even give WX a proper burial, I suppose), and a Constant Radio was hidden behind a wall panel. He's even inhabiting it in the real world now that Wilson's gone. Too much of a coincidence to the one man who captured a spiderling and brought it back to the real world.

This animation brings me so much joy seeing more my favorite character's backstory, and this also reminded me that Wilson still has that "forbidden knowledge" given to him by Maxwell. Wonder what Wilson and Wagstaff are going to get up to now?
Oh my god! Such a blast of nostalgia mixed with something new! It reminded me of how I felt when I first played Don't Starve and saw Wilson's house in the opening. So good! Don't Starve and DST are 2 of my favorite games ever... This animation just reminded me of that and how it felt being flung into the Constant for the first time.

I haven't consistently played Don't Starve the past decade, but I always come back to it, and it's wild to me that I have grown up with this game. I'm so happy it's still around and better than ever before. I love the devs of this game, they all seem to genuinely care about every single thing which is sadly so rare to find nowadays.

The structure they are building is the Flord Postern in DST, They were looking to escape the Constant through it, but Charlie took over and is now the Portal that every player spawns in through in every public server. Just something I got from OrangE's lore video a few years ago. I guess this confirms it.

I have goosebumps, I got back to 2013 by seeing Wilson's house, to when I used to play DS on the ps3. I love how Wagstaff entered the lore and how much he hides and, at the same time, he controls, can't wait to see where all this will go, thank you Klei!!!
