My favourite Jamaican rum so far.

I think this one is a great entry to Jamaican rum! Funk wise it sits in a great spot between Appleton 8/12 and Hampden 8. This and the nice banana note is why I recommend the WP to people trying to get into Jamaican rum. One might take a couple of glasses to really appreciate it. But if someone manages to get into it I‘d say that they like this one more than Appleton. And it’s still easier to get into than Hampden 8.

Haven’t pulled the trigger on this one yet. Maybe I should. $90 CAD in Ontario Canada (~£52.50). It’s a commitment at that price for me. But what you describe here is pretty interesting I’ll say that!

There’s deffo way more depth on Worthy than Appleton. Funk, Ester, Character. Similar Prices here, so this is a no brainer over Appleton for a stereotypical “Jamaican Rum”.

This retails for $70 (£56) in my area. I’d like to try it but that’s more than just a casual purchase!

Ah yes. My number one go-to rum.

Eldorado and the other candied Rum are not real rum and do not follow the Rum Standard. Worthy Park is the only vertically integrated distillery and even makes their own molasses. From sugar cane to Bottle they do it all. I am a huge fan of Worthy Park. best in Jamaica as far as I am concerned.

Think you’ll find El Dorado certainly is “Real Rum”.

@@StevetheBarmanRumReviews Just as Bourbon County, Kentucky, has strict rules about what can be labeled bourbon and the Cognac region of France closely regulates production of that particular iteration of brandy, traditional producers of rum- Barbados, Jamaica, and the islands of the French Caribbean-prohibit most adulteration of rum, including the addition of sugar. The same, however, is not true for rums produced in other countries. Eldorado falls into this category. I don’t deny it’s a tasty product. But is dosing rum with sugar and colouring after the fact Real Rum? I personally prefer the unadulterated Rums that follow the rum standard.

    • @StevetheBarmanRumReviews

Again, you’re not quite right. Barbados has absolutely NO GI. There are no rules. In fact 90% of the Rum exported off the island of Barbados has added Sugar. Also, let’s not forget even the so called proper distillery on Barbados; Foursquare…while they have no additives, surely adding no Rum to a Wet Sherry Barrel to age the Doorlys XO is the same thing…it’s just vice versa. As for Jamaica. Yea you’re right. On the island they have their GI. However, if that Jamaican Rum is bottled in Holland at the largest Rum Producer in the world, then Sugar can be added. As the Jamaican GI only applies on island. The rest of the world doesn’t have to upload that GI. And actually Guyana does have a slight GI too. “Demerara Rum”. Again if Guyanese Rum is bottled elsewhere, say Holland, then it can’t be classified as Demerara Rum as you have to bottle/bring down to proof using water from the Demerara River. So while I do agree in part with what you’re saying. The fact is, everything that comes from Sugar Cane is “Real Rum”. Cos you could argue that ageing Barbados Rum in barrels for 12 years is adding flavour (and sweetness depending on ex barrels). So while opinions of real Rum are one thing. Facts are another 👍

PS…again 90% of Rum has added colour. Even Foursquare. E150 is widely used! But some people don’t classify that as an additive…yet it is very much adding something to a Rum to therefore is has to be an Additive. (And yeah, even Jamaica use e150. Same as Whiskey!!)

@@StevetheBarmanRumReviews I don’t disagree with what you are saying. However, for over a 100 years a flavoured spirit has been known as a liqueur. I don’t disagree the globalization of rum has changed things considerably, I personally prefer the unadulterated rums like Jamaica offers, especially Worthy Park. In my opinion, unadulterated rum producers should not be valued similarly to the sweetened rum producers, just as the single malt producers are not valued on the same scale as flavored moonshine.

Hi Steve! I've wanted this "chap" for quite a while, but "run out" -they say(((So I'll have to be confined with just this review))) Nonetheless I am to be congratulated! Just yesterday I picked up a bottle of R.L. Seals 10y.o. 46%ABV T"was on sale for about 3700 roubles that's around 40 bucks. I don't think it cheap and a real bargain, but you see they sell it pretty expensive here in Moscow(((But that's ok in any way. I hope I like it and won't be disappointed in that and at sippin' it👌. So cheers!

@@StevetheBarmanRumReviews Hi Steve! Opened it just yesterday! A real cracker!-Fantastic! Full bodied, oily, nice smelling , what's more-"honest rum"-just thrills and chills!👍, feel myself like an old pirate☠🤣🤣🤣 Now, got a question for the future: Eldorado 12 (ain't got enough cash for 15-it's 2000roubles as big in its price as 12), Doorly's 12, or Chairman's Reserve Forgotten Cask ? Lookin' forward to hearing ya out on the subject.
