I saw him on that Dream Evil tour with the spider, in hindsight he was really good. But I remember not liking him because he changed some of Viv’s solos (slightly). Another great lesson Dave! Going to dive into these.
@Late Night Guitar Lessons You are an extremely gifted and talented guitarist! Do you have any links to your original songs and solos therein? Would love to hear what you come up with having so many players soaked up into your brain. Thanks again! Very cool thing to do!!
Gary Moore ,picked all the notes in these arpeggios,on the "Back on the streets" album ,you can hear the notes more clearly[less gain, hes been doing this since the early Seventies [or had] and the way he held his pick was at a very awkward angle ,heard it so mant times ,from others ,but prefer Garys attack on each note ,more aggressive .
Another awesome lesson. It would be great if you could include what's going on with your picking hand when demoing these kinds of licks (on the first lick, for example). I see there's some economy picking going on there. That would be a huge help.
Awesome lesson as per usual Dave! Your tone/sound is also so great on these....I dunno if anyone even mentions that...but your lessons are always so sonically great I just like listening to them even if I don't always follow through in practice sessions. I propose two more obscur-ish players for licks lessons: Pete Lesperance of Harem Scarem, and Andy Gillion of Mors Principium Est, the "Streely Dan" of melodic death metal! :)

When I tried creating a profile on Y T my name was already taken so I used my legal first name!! Thanks man!!
@@TCraigGoldy Wow Holy crap! Well thank you for taking the time to reply! What an honor to be able to talk to a guitar great! Mind blown!
@@MyGuitartime Thank you my friend!! Your kind words mean more than you know! I'm just a fan that got into the band!! I worked at being my best....but being in Dio wasn't a gig or a job....it was a dream come true!!
I learned so much from working side by side with the Master! And I was fortunate enough to have worked with some of my other favorites! And have had a chance to put out albums with some of my other favorites! But nothing compares to the time spent with Ronnie just the 2 of us! There's a few albums that came out over the last few years that reflect some of that time and experiences....and I got a couple more albums to finish and then I'm really gonna take my time and try and put out an album that would make him proud! Some say the Dream Child album with Rudy Sarzo is it, some say the 1st Resurrection Kings album with Vinny Appice was it, some say my 1st solo album "Hidden in Plain Sight" is it....but those might be close....but I hope to do an album that will infuse the kind of inspiration that I got from Rainbow Rising, Deep Purple -Burn...something like that! And when I come across videos like this and read comments like yours....it's just so amazing and humbling at the same time!! Thank you for that Brian!!
I saw him on that Dream Evil tour with the spider, in hindsight he was really good. But I remember not liking him because he changed some of Viv’s solos (slightly). Another great lesson Dave! Going to dive into these.
Craig goldy definently influenced buckethead
Can you play the intro to Dio Overlove....? I've never seen anyone else okay it...?
Thanks so much again :)
@Late Night Guitar Lessons
You are an extremely gifted and talented guitarist!
Do you have any links to your original songs and solos therein? Would love to hear what you come up with having so many players soaked up into your brain. Thanks again! Very cool thing to do!!
"and it went something like this"......Suddenly every spider in the house is dead.
trying some kind of two handed tapping classical style makes me feel like a total beginner, and ive played for 40 yrs!
Definitely not a popular thing to say, but I've always thought Craig was the best Dio guitarist. Yes, Vivian is obviously awesome too, and he wrote lots of classic riffs and solos, but I'll still have to go with mr Goldy.
Wow!! Mats Nilson!! Thank you for that my friend!! That leaves me a bit speechless! Viv was definitely the quintessential Dio guitarist no mistake about that and those first 3 albums are rare gems in the coal mines of music! Rowan, Doug and Tracy-G all brought their "A" game and it shined....big time!! I'm glad I got to bring a more Blackmore-ish approach to my contributions to Dio....but the main thing is this.....I'm a fan that got into the band! And being in Dio was not a gig....or a job....but a real Dream Come True!
So, for me to see this video and read some of these amazing comments like yours......really does mean a lot!!
So, thank you!!
I agree also. Vivian did nothing after leaving Dio. Dio wrote many of the riffs from the Vivian days
The ending reminds me of sammy boller’s songs. Tappy! And my request is for XYZ/marc diglio since I can’t ever find videos of him besides like one haha
Love your videos and lessons. But geez the ads are getting out of hand. Thanks though
This is video with the updated electronics? Emerson wiring? Let's hear the new and improved PRS😎🤘
Thanks for the great lesson about a criminally underrated guitarist - may I ask what model that PRS you are playing is? Love the look - thanks
You should check out JINJER guitar play throughs. You’ll dig it.
Interesting choice mate, but a very worthy choice :)

Despite the fact that David explains again everything in a great way, I have to say that this particular lesson is not for me. I never found something really special or unique in Craig‘s playing. And overhand muting is something that doesn‘t make any sense to me. Anyway, David is the man!
