I have no regrets about what life changes bring...it is what it is. We cannot be young forever and who wants to live forever? I am so happy at this lovely age of 70 and feel free to do whatever I want to do. I will not be sidelined by what society say on how my life is to go. Thank you very much.
I'm 75 years old; and, I have already passes through menopause (drug free). You are correct. It did give me back my freedom. Because I am now old, I can say what I really think. Most of the time, I wear what I want to wear. I am free to explore many things that I was not allowed to do when I was younger. I still donate blood on a regular basis. My body needs have changed; so, I am slowly changing my diet (and losing weight) without using any drugs. Staying drug free is very important to me. I don't worry about what people say or think about me anymore. When someone gives me worry or trouble, (I report them in person, not on a phone); and, they get to explain themselves to a Law Officer. This way records are made (and I am not dismissed as a stupid old woman).
Im sooooo tired of all these different ppl pushing the youth looks and such. Instead everyone should push and appreciate every stage of life. Thank you. You are inspiring. 🌻🌻🌻
It's said Mark Twain once remarked, "Wrinkles merely indicate where smiles have been." Enjoyed today's film, Terri. I have a request for a future topic. Information on liver health and or healing a fatty liver. Blessings to you and Lol from California!
I went through this in my late 40s. Im 54 now just get the odd hot flush.🥵🥵. I never had kids just never wanted them. I didnt take anything whilst going through it just went with it. What you say is so true about not caring what people think of you. Thanks for the tips passed this onto a friend as she having a bad time of it. ❤❤❤❤
I am 62 and still menopausal, hot flashes , mood swings and all the other crazy things, (stopped bleeding a year and half ago , that’s one little victory) All women have different experiences and I really don’t feel like embracing this ongoing journey anymore, it frustrating to be honest. I meditate, practice and teach yoga, walk with my dogs every day to keep me sane during this challenging time. Thank goddess I have retired from work (nursing). Last week I ordered St. John wort to add to the menopausal arsenal, let’s see how it works. Sending Love and Light to all menopausal women , as it can be very difficult for some ❤️🥵❤
Yes me too. I started with the menopause aged 43 and I am 56 now. I have suffered the most horrendous hot flushes which woke me almost every 30 minutes throughout the night for several years. I tried sage, it worked for a couple of months and then not. The symptoms I suffer are debilitating and I do absolutely all I can to remedy myself. I will try a couple of things which Terri mentioned which I haven't yet tried. It can be frustrating when people haven't experienced the same and wonder what all the fuss is about. Terri is wonderful and I agree with her regarding mindset and joining clubs etc. Being in nature every day can be an enormous help too. I only wish all the symptoms would just go away, after 13 years, I have had enough 💖💓💖
I understand from women older than myself that hot flushes can continue - I still get them myself occasionally - but I think of it as being in a forge and being tempered into something more beautiful and resilient. It makes things a bit easier xx
Yes we have lost the roles of the wise Women ...our values are no longer in line with the materialistic world we live in except as you have said in order to rescue us from the impediment of aging ...thank you for the valuation of the crone and the bluebells
Good advice. I'm 68 and when I experienced the "change" it was mild but it was a feeling of being free. So much to look forward to. Attitude is everything!
Thankyou Terri. I lost my mom /and nanna many years ago, and wasnt prepared for the menopause at all. I was overwhelmed to begin with and didnt realise how much it can affect your life. Even decision making became an ordial!! I had to buy a new cooker and stared at two for days and days before being able to choose between the two. Once id bought one, i was convinced id bought the wrong one!! its funny now, but real at the time. Peri menopause can last for a long time, this again , i didnt know. And those hot flushes were quite something, mine felt like internal combustion. Luckily i managed to get through without any medical aids. I think your video is going to help alot of ladies out there, it is a subject that isnt spoken about much, which is really sad. Thankyou xx
It is true that many of us find decision making difficult and get foggy headed but rather than see it as a problem , just see it as an opportunity to take some time out. It is funny when you look back - but you realise that it seemed worse at the time than it was. I bet your cooker is great. You are right I think, that is not much spoken about and should be, in a positive way rather than just horror stories. xx
I'm 54 and starting the process of menopause. I just want to say thank you. This was so uplifting. Menopause, I thought, was this looming dead end. Terrie, you put this in such a different perspective for me. Love the channel and show. It's awesome!
Good morning, Terri and Lol. How I wish I had watched this video 15 years ago! I experienced menopausal symptoms in my early 40s. I was still working full-time, shift work, raising children and dealing with hot flashes. I started noticing the onset of osteoporosis around age 50. Two hip replacements later, I'm retired, through 'the change' and finally able to sleep at night, (with the help of select herbal teas). I've developed an appreciation for living a more natural, 'in tune with the seasons' life. I'm embracing my now thick, grey-white hair. I enjoy working in the garden, and harvesting the medicinal weeds that Mother Earth provides. And,...having a dog to walk makes a difference as well. Take care both of you, and blessings from Canada. P.S. Spring is finally coming to S.E. Ontario. I've seen my first dandelion!.
This week has gone so fast. At 45 I started menopause. I stopped my monthly then. So I’m in my mid 60’s. I don’t remember the all the problems that went with the change of life. I do remember having my little devil show up each month when the moon was full. My mood swings went the same way as the moon was full. I would get angry at myself and just felt down in the dumps at those times. My mother would throw me a pill and made me take it. I asked what it was and she told me dried up sage in a capsule. So you brought me a good memory about my mother.
I used Red Clover and Rhodiola Rosea for my menopause . Really helped a lot as my symptoms were more anxious/ fatigue based . In fact I’ve just started on Rhodiola again atm as these energies have been so heavy again recently, I’ve felt the need for a bit of extra oomf . I also make a St Jon’s wort and geranium herbal face salve , which also works a treat for upliftment and stress wrinkles 😉🙏
Been in the throws of menopause for some time. The hot flashes are killing me. I have them every hour of the day and night. ( seriously....I've timed them!) Of all the videos I've watched, this one spoke to me. So simple. And your advice, I'm going to take it and use it wisely. I do notice the change in attitude! Which is a nice change for me cause I've never used my voice to stand up for myself. Now I do.😊 Thank you Terri❤❤❤
Hot flashes can be exhausting! Someone above in the comments mentioned iced teas and my mother always used a fan. You can find ways around them as well as trying the herbs - good luck on your menopausal journey xx
Terri, I thought of you again at the garden center this week when I saw the same Sedges that grow wild all over the west of Ireland here in pots as garden plants for $19.99. One man's (woman's) scourge is another man's treasure I guess. Regarding the menopause and beauty, from this man's (and portrait painter's) observation, it seems to me women age much more beautifully than we men do, on a whole, both inside and outside. But with all humans, beauty to me is most often correlated to spirit rather than age, pre, peri and post menopause!
Beauty is definitely what is within and I imagine that you as a portrait painter will see things deep down that others may not see. Funny about the sedges - I am trying to grow Bee Balm which I understand is all over the US but is very slow here. Swap you a sedge!? xx
I believe we were meant to go thru this cycle and we can make it what we want it to be. I also believe as we age we get to that tipping point with toxins, so starting to look at everything in your life...soap, skin care, laundry care, household cleaners etc. and start to replace those with simple things like sodium bicarbonate, vinegars, etc. The last 10 years (at least) I haven't been able to figure out why my skin was so bad, and I felt so crummy...sodium laurel sulfate was my issue in so many products. I'm healing and gaining energy and feeling better and even more creative because I have energy.
I am so past menopause I don't really remember it. But my daughter is experiencing it now. One thing I do remember is someone telling me to consider the hot flashes as a mini trip to the tropics without the mosquitoes. A lot of cultures used to honor their elders. Unfortunately, we've gone in the opposite direction. With age comes wisdom and like a fine expensive wine, we get better with age.
We should feel free at this point. Unfortunately many are stuck at this stage caregiving for elderly parents while still being expected to work full time for another decade or more. Thats the state in the U.S. anyway.
I know - I was looking after my dad and my uncle and it did feel as if, the minute my children were independent I had these new responsibilities. I thought it would never end but it did - and it will for you too xx
More educational videos about menopause are direly needed in the world. Women telling their experiences and sharing tidbits of info and advice that you can only get from experience. Thank you for touching on this topic and I hope more women follow suit.
Hello, I'd like to share my experience with menopause as someone at 77 who has been blessed with a fabulous life; albeit with monthly migraines except during several pregnancies. The migraines disappeared after menopause. However, the night sweats and hills and valleys of mood swings that followed were a nightmare....and I tried everything you recommended and more to no avail. A pharmacist at a local health pharmacy asked if I had tried a product from Eastern Europe, the only ingredient contained in it was Rheum Rhaponticum, which is false rhubarb. Within a few weeks, my life changed. Pure, beautiful normalcy. I do not wish to say the name of the product as this would sound like advertising, and this is not my intention. I have been using this product now for several years and wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
The Rhubarb family including False Rhubarb has amazing health benefits so it sounds as if it has helped you many of the symptoms associated with menopause - ageing, inflammation, protective and supportive of liver, (which is so important at this time) and much more xx
Hi Terri! I sooo agree with your teaching on menopause! It is thought about in our society as a disease - and it´s not - it´s only a transition and right of passage as you beautifully explained. I LOVE this stage of my life; I am in my wise, beautiful crone years and it is wonderful. I look forward to what I will learn and discover every single day. I am a Wise Woman - and don´t apologize for it!!! I became a Reiki Master at 64 years old, I knew I would retire from my local Medical Center and wanted to do something fun and fulfilling that would be in alignment with my very spiritual self - I love it!! If only women could understand, there is nothing to fear or be anxious about with menopause. Thanks for this wonderful video - I just love you and the way you embrace the beauty of life and Mother Gaia. Blessed Be sweet sister!!!
While foraging in our garden today - my husband complimented me on being a wise woman! sending love and blessings to all the wise women out there and welcome to new ones
😂😂 swearing, staying up all night and not caring what others think, you are my kind of girl. I found evening primrose oil helped too. Embrace the beauty of wrinkles and saggy bits. You are still beautiful and loved. xx
Of course EPO - thanks for mentioning it - there is actually a huge arsenal of helpful herbs beyond the ones I mentioned xx and you are right - those funny bits make us the loveable creatures we are xx
Night sweats would drive me crazy. Nature so often seems to give women more burdens than we men are handed....but maybe it's because women have the real strength that we men just don't have. My sister the nurse says unequivocally men in her healthcare setting are much more babies when dealing with pain/discomfort than women are. I wish you (personally and women generally) did not have to deal with these symptoms but I genuinely admire your (again personally and women generally) strength!
My guide through menopause was Susun Weed's book, "The Menopausal Years" and the herbal allies I most used were sage, motherwort, peppermint, St. John's wort...and I forgot the other one! I'm now 74 and made the transition quite smoothely a couple decades ago with mild night sweats, some mild tachycardia, and weirdly...formication - the feeling of ants on my skin. I credit the herbs with getting through.
Thank you so much, dear gorgeous Terri! I am turning 54 at the end of the month...and I honestly can't even remember going through the menopause (even though my periods stopped around ten-years ago)...and, if I am going through it now...hmmm, I must be acing it...hehe!!!! Aside from occasional night sweats...I feel exactly the same. I have always seen the beauty in everyone/everything...so, when I look down at my aged hands, it reminds me how grateful I am to still be here, now...alive!!! 💗💗💗
You're spot on Terri! I don't worry about my wrinkles, I consider this part of life. I don't see myself as the crone, but the Empress, older but much wiser!! I was born on the 17th, & that has become my Life Number, I will remain 17 in spirit & mind until such time! Your garden looks so Beautiful as always! Lot's of Love & Many Blessings❤🐝🌻PS/ my crow's feet represent laughter & joy in life👌
Sorry, but I have to disagree with it being freedom, doing what you like etc. I went through 10 years plus of hell with it. I was still working full time, elderly parents to help care for and it destroyed a ten year relationship, it was so difficult. I'm 64 now but still have to work until at least 66. I was around 61/62 when periods finally stopped permanently. The doctors were useless, I had to fight to get HRT. I was totally knackered, drove for my job and was so tired, driving was dangerous but it was my way of earning a living. Though that's in the past, I still get all the monthly symptoms, aches and pains of the monthly period. Having said all that SAGE was the one that worked for me. My friends sailed through it, it was just me that had the menopause from hell.
Bless you. I completely empathise with you. Mine is the same experience and it continues. I will however try a couple of the things Terri mentioned which I have not yet tried. Take care 💓💖💓
I started growing St. John’s Wort last year and was surprised it over wintered in a container coming back this spring with abundance. Menopause last many years with different stages of the process. I think this is one of the reasons I dove deeper into growing medicinal herbs to help myself and other people in need. Recently Ashwaganda was recommended along with a shot of apple cider vinegar every morning. Thank you for reminding us to love ourselves! ❤
I didn't have hot flushes but I did one morning wake up up with a terrible depression, almost suicidal! My doctor said my oestrogen levels had plummeted when I consulted him. As I did not want to go on hormone replacement he suggested oil of primrose & while it took a few weeks my mental state got back to normal, but it was a frightening experience. Hormones are very important, my grandmother had post natal psychosis in the 1930's & was admitted to an asylum. There was no treatment then & I wonder if these herbs could have helped. She unfortunately died young at 29, due to tuberculosis she contracted in the hospital.
So sorry to hear of your grandmother. I know of someone from years ago who suffered with that and was advised not to have any other children. That is a severe problem. Oil of Evening Primrose can be amazing for some women, I found its help to be excellent xx
Hello...can I say I love how you are looking at this unpleasant times...yes omega 3...and I find Red clover is also very good..just making teas..I have hot flushes for the last 15 years..😂😂 and grief isn't helping as my hubby passed away last year...but your correct to say now i can do lots of things for myself..😂 not easy with the grief but getting there slowly...😊
Sorry for your loss Claudine. It certainly won't be easy with grief there too. You could include some Hawthorn and Rose along with your Red Clover . xx
I so enjoyed your chat with us today about a natural menopause. I have been going through this and your words of wisdom have brought to me some wonderful herbs and some great advice. Lately I have been asking my self "who is that old woman in the mirror?" Now I am going to give myself more positive affirmations and do more exploring in my world. Thank you for your kind words.
Glad to hear that you are going to use more positive affirmations. -We can do damage with our negative language to ourselves. You wouldn't say it to a friend so don't say it to yourself. Enjoy your inner and outer beauty xx
Good evening Terri, great conversation, I am 73 in July, I went through menapause quite quickly in comparison to my mother who told me at 73 she was still having night sweats and flushes, so I'm grateful for that. I don't feel any different still very active I didn't think of it as end of life as it used to be but a new journey places to go people to meet, Last year I had a book published and I'm putting together my second one. My 4 children don't live locally the 4 corners of the UK. visits happen often, I travel around the country favourite holiday destinations etc. Life is rich and rewarding . What ever our age. We should not be intimidated with advertisements of how we should look at any age your as old or as young as you feel. I'm often told I don't look my age, I say how am I supposed to look.? Hugs and Blessings. 💚🌹
Thank you for this pep talk! 53 and still regular cycles but have all the symptoms, been going on for 8 years, no sign of changing. The impression of invisibility is very real among colleagues, I feel it might have been slightly easier for women who didn't have to be sharp and fog-free in the workplace let alone the physical challenges of energy levels expected in your 50s. There's really not much support for us working in the NHS, particularly if on call, no support at all, expected to carry on like our colleagues in their 20s. 😔
I went through menopause kind of early at 49 yrs old along with stage 3b melanoma. I made a lot of lifestyle and diet changes because of the cancer. I started eating simply and clean... I didn't notice menopause except all of a sudden one day I woke up and no longer had a period. Additionally I'm sure the changes I made helped me beat cancer...it's been 15 yrs ago.
Hi Terri and Lol, Loved the flowers and the uplifting teachings!!!! Loved to see you guys are busy in your oasis of abundance and TLC . My sis went to a course on how to save the monarch butterflies since they are fewer and fewer coming to Canada. So, we are going to be planting the flowers that they like to encourage them to come and see us. Every summer we are visited by different color and shape butterflies.... PEACE , LOVE and BLESSINGS!!!!😃🙏🌹🍀🐝🦋🍎
What a marvel to see an older lady with completely white hair, in her garden, full of energy, loving life in her own skin. I am in agreement with being defiant against societal views on aging. My own white hairs are coming in, more and more. I love them, and refuse to cover them with dye. These represent the wisdom I aspire to grow into.
Thank you Terri. I always forward to your Sunday video . I stop worrying about what people thought about me a long time ago. Thank you for your advice. ❤
I’m 71 still have hot flushes😩 Unfortunately at the time my doctors never mentioned what I was going through and friends didn’t talk much about menopause…. Have been taking a supplement to relief the hot flushes. Gratefully I feel better. As always looking forward to Sunday’s, you brighten up my day. Thank you💕💕🌸👏👏
Good morning Terri Thank you for my order. Your books are going down well. Very informative and easy to understand . Great to see you this morning. Very interesting . Have a great week. X
Beautiful words thank you when I went through the change I had a party no more periods no more cramps etc. The hot flashes and night sweats mainly were intense but those are gone except once in a while I get a hot flash. I welcomed it saying okay had over the senior discounts time to spoil me, I worked 30 or so years time to be me. My daughter is special needs so still caring for her but she keeps me moving and filled with energy while she goes to her program I enjoy my friends, cooking, baking and of course crocheting. Namaste love to you dear friend.
Cheryl, that is beautiful! So many lovely things for you to enjoy after all the work and having a party was a brilliant idea, truly celebrating womanhood xx
Thank you, Terri. I passed through mine with very little fanfare. I chose a natural path, using herbs and bringing soy products into my diet. I did feel a mild sense of grieving (no more babies). But it's no more a medical condition than is puberty.👍🇨🇦😎
Thank you! This is a subject that is not talked about enough! We are all different and there are many ways to deal with the issues of this change. For me peppermint iced tea and ice water was helpful and using yoga cooling breathing.
I love Sage, & thank you so much for mentioning how awesome that Sage is, & for letting women know some details so that they know they're not going crazy, but that it's just a natural part of life for women💖 Embrace every day with love & compassion for yourself because life is short❤
I had a hysterectomy at 42 (bad advice) and went into an early menopause two years later. I had just returned to work and was very self conscious of the flushes so I went onto the HRT. I remained on this for way too long and then went into a menopause twenty years later. I'm sorry I didn't know the information I now have. I now make all my own skin and bodycare with herbs and drink herbal teas and make oximels (thanks to you)
Thank you Teri for speaking on such an important topic! Menopause was very difficult for me. Thankfully I am passed it now and you are right it is freeing and life is good in older age. The key is support, all the info you have imparted, and realizing it won't last forever. Do what you like and enjoy everyday! All the best to you and your family from Massachusetts!😊🌲🌳
My menopause seemed very brief. I barely noticed it as I kept busy - my granddaughter helped immensely 😅. One day I woke up and realised I hadn't had any hot flashes for about a year. I simply hadn't noticed. Life is soooo much better now. As Terri says, I no longer worry about what other people think, I now accept myself the way I am, and any changes I make are both gradual and only for me. I fill my days with things I love - even my job seems so much easier now and I look forward to going. I am already planning lots of things for my retirement and laying the groundwork for them. This really is the most exciting time of my life (and my second granddaughter is an added bonus).
Post menopausal and on year 11 of having anything from 1-6 hot flushes every hour 24/7. Never ending. 🥵 Over the years I have tried many herbs including those you mention. Currently trying wild yam cream (Barbara O’Neill has a fascinating talk on hormones).
I hear you sister! Almost 20 years here! I have also tried many things, including progestin or something cream for several months with no results. Most women I know don't suffer like I do😢
Woah! 11 years... it's safe to say you're a warrior woman! 💪 I watched the Barbara o Niell talk as well. I was trying to source a genuine Anna's progesterone cream but only finding various Chinese versions. Do you mind me asking which one you've gone for? I'm looking at one called magic yams from Germany (I'm in Portugal). My hot flushes have calmed down a lot (I'm taking Shatavari and Dong Quai at the moment. ) I've tried Vitex Agnus Castus, siberian ginseng and Sage (although I still regularly take sage and nettle tea that I grow). My ongoing problem is migraines. Going out is a hazard for me because they seem to be triggered not only by hormones but by perfumes and fabric softeners, scented candles, petrol and various other fragrant aldehydes 😫. Christiane Northrup suggests a progesterone cream for the migraine problem so I'm trying to source a good one...
Well said Terri, it is not all negative, in fact there is FREEDOM!!! Wonderful colours are returning to, the landscape and the dogs are having a wonderful time, what an incredible existance. So true what you say about ageing, there are so many children these days will never experience as there lives are being cut short .by all the atrocities. Both my Grandparents where highly regarded due to their age and experience.
I hit menopause in my 30's and now at 53 haven't had a period in over 5 yrs. I wish someone had told me about herbal remedies for it back then, my night sweats were horrendous, it was like someone had soaked me with a hose. Now my daughter had been in it since her late 20's which worries me greatly. Our doctor has not discussed any kind of hormone treatment despite her young age.
Well I would get your daughter to a herbalist straight away to unravel why her periods are stopped. This is a health issue that can be rectified with herbs. xx
Brilliant and inspiring as always. I would also like to add that the herb Ashwagandha works to correct and heal eastrogen levels (whether they are too low or too high).
Thank you so much for this video! I'm 52 and going through all this perimenopause, but keeping my fingers crossed, that any day now, my periods will completely stop. I've had periods since I was 11 (they have never been easy), and I'm so ready for being free! I remember watching a short video about 10yrs ago from a young Mum who was 30, and she had cancer. She said that you should embrace the aging process - wrinkles, grey hair and all - because some people aren't fortunate enough to see 50 or older and get wrinkles and grey hair. She would be one of those people. So, I love my lines and wrinkles, and the silvery strands in my hair are natural highlights. And it's so true, the older I get, the less I care what others think of me and so over the BS! Thanks for your wonderful videos. I really enjoy them and have been embracing and making my own natural remedies for about a year now. Thanks to Lole and your fur babies with helping make the videos, too. Sending lots of love and light your way. 🥰💖🌱🌻
Thanks Terri, I can now embrace my "crone" phase. Thankfully not too many symptoms except having a hysterectomy four years ago. But I can now say that I have embraced this stage of my life and feel fine. You are right about not caring what anyone thinks, swearing and dying hair - I am doing all three 😊. Looking forward to my 65th birthday in May and growing old disgracefully.💃
Well said Terri! Important to take care of ourselves - suggest pilates/yoga daily practice, extra use of supplements during and after menopause - magnesium, zinc, Omega 3 fish oils or DHA oil, D3 oil with K2, vitamin C and removing all processed food, reducing carbs and removing sugars. Eat good quality fresh food and lots of raw food such as salad leaves, carrot etc. Will truly help the transition. I think you're right when you say that we simply don't care what others think! Honestly, this is true! Post menopause women are a force to be reckoned with and we're needed now more than ever in this world! X
Thank you so much fir the video. A Bosnian friend told me in her country women prepare sage tea in a very small proportion,so its more effective: they just put a teaspoonful in 2 litres of water, boil it slowly for a couple of minutes to extract as much as they can, let it cool down completely, then drink during the day, just like they drink water. Soy sprouts in your diet also help a lot.
you are a rare gem sadly but much appreciated I've been actually searching for one person who does age naturally, you are an inspiration and I hope to be as lovely as you as I age in all ways. Thanks for not making it sound so scary. All through my twenties-thirties have dealt with severe anxiety, social phobia with that depression and so reading peoples comments on what menopause does to them which sounds already exactly like what II have already been living pretty much my whole life and has scared the blank out of me before it has even happened but now I'm early fourties and it will be coming soon, have been missing periods straight for three months then having one, then missing them for three months again straight and having one so something is going on.
Take a deep breath and be aware that it will pass and you will be transformed. did you know that when caterpillars go into the chrysalis, before emerging as a butterfly they actually die. Transformation is not easy but it is worth it xx
Going through it now at 49 … then my daughter gets pregnant and mom ( me) is expected to take care of her children so she can work. I finally got freedom and now tied down by an infant. I’m honestly bitter and it affects every part of my life.
It is your choice surely, as to what you do with your life? It is not your duty to bring up your daughters baby & will only destroy your relationship. Be a grandmother, but go enjoy your life.❤
My friend told her daughter she will not provide daycare as she wants to enjoy her grandchildren. I pray you can find a way to honor yourself! Resentment is toxic for our health and relationships. Please love and honor yourself 💕🙏💕
Oh dear! It is not my place to interfere with your family life, but you can say no. You are the grandmother and it will be wonderful to have a grandchild and spend time with him or her. But you are also your own person and I would put some boundaries in place and your daughter must understand that you are willing to help but you are not an unpaid servant. You have your own life. Hope it all gets sorted out before the baby is born. It is not good to be made feel bitter. xx
I’m 41 and I am so looking forward to the days that I can help my children with their children. Altho I do pray my daughter and the wife of my future son make the same choice I did: to stay home and raise their own children. It’s such a crime that women are robbed of this wonder by the pressure to work. But if they must work, I certainly would prefer to be the “daycare” in place of a state institution that seeks to corrupt my (future) grandchildren. I guess it’s all mindset. I definitely am averse to this “me me me” attitude I see basically everywhere. So I pray your daughter can reorganize her life to be able to do the thing she’s truly called to (snuggling with that precious little person and raising them), and in the meantime I pray you can find joy in her trusting your enough to entrust you with that precious little soul who is your legacy.
Thank you Terri for bringing life to what the Chinese call our second spring, and I think this post captures the essence of that! I will try the sage tea. I have found taking magnesium, has really helped everything. Also I gave up drinking caffine in January after having covid and straightaway, the flushing stopped. I still have a tiny bit of dark chocolate now and again and can feel the heat rise in my body after. I have increased my intake of good quality tofu also for the plant eostrogens. For the emotional and spiritual support I have found reading the book 'Wise Power' by Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer to have been essential. Like it has almost provided a sacred container for me to find myself in, almost a map of territory, and an understanding. I am now really careful of who's words I listen to now around the talk of menopause, I am now writing this story for myself without carrying too many words from others. I have learn't from them that menopause is the time when more light comes in. This shines on our lives and our considerations and actions come from that. This enables us to come to our lives in a new way, and of course more light shines into the shadows bringing challenges and new resolutions. I think the earth is also having it's menopausal moment too and the increased light is shining into the shadows. It's quite a time to be going through the menopause! The new directions that come from this time are going to be needed.
Be careful with tofu, its made from soy beans which are hibrid, it was made for the plastic industry, by Mendel in the 1800s in London..your car peddle is made out of soy beans..its a man made food, dont eat that, it will harm you..menopause will not exist if we would eat the corect food for us, alcaline foods to unclog the ovaries..there are women in their 80s making babies without a problem.. Check Alfredo Bowman aka Dr. Sebi that studied all the natural plants and used them to heal people..
I didn't have hot flashes. My husband had them for me lol. I had emotional issues definitely. I didn't take hormones. I took vitamins and herbs. Great topic Terri, it's so important! 💚🌙🌿
Vitamins and herbs - I think a lot of problems stem from poor nutrition so vitamins are a good way to remedy our life changes - as well as a husband who has the hot flushes😂 good for him xx
A friend is going thru this now (I've already gone thru). Her husband asked what she could do. I will pass on the information (I knew a couple of things but you've added more info). Thank you. Blessings sent to you and everybody there..
Dia duit a Terri, cén chaoi a bhfuil tú inniu? I am appreciative of today's episode, as a Druid and Spiritual advisor and guide, this information will come in handy. Especially, when working with fellow members of my tribe. I believe that age is a number and that the societal emphasis on youth and 'beauty' is absurd. We all go through stages of transformation from birth to death to rebirth; and it's important to live to one's fullest extent. Slán go foil for now!

Thank you for focusing on menopause this time. I am in menopause and feel very fortunate in that I have had only very minor hot flashes, the worst for me has been sleep disruption and that is improving. I am taking Chasteberry fruit capsules as you mentioned, I read that it helps balance hormones. I have kept my bones strong by staying active working in my garden, riding my bicycle, and taking an after dinner walk. Keep moving and lifting. Working in a garden is perfect for the upper and lower body with squatting, bending, lifting, pulling, etc.,
It's so true. There is a very negative attitude toward growing older, but I have always believed that age is a blessing, not a curse. ( I just wish my back knew that!😂) it's true what you said, sadly some people will never know what being older is.I turned 52 last june, and I stopped dyeing my hair in October. I'm so thrilled with the colour I am getting. it's white! Yay. I was worried i wouldn't like the greyness because I was auburn. But It was actually seeing you do your hair care video, when you said you were dark haired that I thought, if Terri was dark and now has this beautiful colour, there is a chance I could have too, low and behold I do!! Now I can't wait for it to grow out completely! Admittedly, it doesn't look great next to the dyed lengths. Never mind, I'm still happy in my skin. Thank you so much for your lovely video ❤️
@DanusIrishHerbGarden it already is. All my curls are coming back! I would imagine the lack of colourants and the homemade shampoo are the reason for that! 😊
Great share! I'm out the other side for the most, but still get bothered by hot flushes/sweats. It is a perfectly natural process and I wouldn't touch HRT with a barge pole. Thank you for your words of wisdom. 😊
Well said! It's a complex subject and everybody's experience of it is different. I will say I'm glad I'm through it now and leave it at that, but you are right, it does give us a period of freedom, once we accept that our lives have changed. When I was a little girl, I remember we had a student teacher in our class for a while. Her name was Miss Tan. (I wonder what happened to her?). When she left she gave us each a postcard with a saying on the back of it. My postcard was of an airplane and on the back it said 'Life is what you make of it.' I've always remembered that saying and agree with it.
Hi Terri! As a woman who is on the other side of this transitional time, let me say that you are SPOT ON when you discuss the freedom of this time in life. And also that you know of the longing to feel purposeful after the nest is empty. I love how you shared and prepared those who will soon transition as well. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, to help us all be our best selves.
There’s too much shaming on women to look young these days. We should be happy with who we are we have lived and that’s amazing x
Amen!
I have no regrets about what life changes bring...it is what it is. We cannot be young forever and who wants to live forever? I am so happy at this lovely age of 70 and feel free to do whatever I want to do. I will not be sidelined by what society say on how my life is to go. Thank you very much.
If you feel shame looking young I would love to look young n be able to look after myself instead of being helped
Shaming of girls and women all through life. It's ridiculous.
I absolutely agree xx
A wonderful attitude and it is important to me too to remain drug free. I hope you don't have to report people too often!!!
That’s wonderful.Im determined to go through this naturally. After all how did our ancestors live during this phase?🩵🙏🏼
Im sooooo tired of all these different ppl pushing the youth looks and such. Instead everyone should push and appreciate every stage of life. Thank you. You are inspiring. 🌻🌻🌻
I agree and I think it is much more difficult for younger women. I know of girls in their early 30s using botox!! Very sad.
It's said Mark Twain once remarked, "Wrinkles merely indicate where smiles have been."
Enjoyed today's film, Terri. I have a request for a future topic. Information on liver health and or healing a fatty liver. Blessings to you and Lol from California!
Very sweet - such a wise man. Yes, that would be a good topic xx
Our attitude to anything is so important to the outcome. Hope your friend finds some help xx
Well you are a wise woman Maura - you know what is important and you share your wisdom. I am sure you are very valued xxx
Menopause is a Woman's right of passage. The transition gifts us Sovereignty and Freedom and Wisdom.
Absolutely - the gifts are momentous too x
Good advice. I'm 68 and when I experienced the "change" it was mild but it was a feeling of being free. So much to look forward to. Attitude is everything!
Women with attitude can change the world! xx😂
So glad to hear that - most definitely not a dead end xx
Happy Spring time! At last! I think you would develop an appreciation for living more naturally - wisdom that comes with years on the planet😂😂🙏
Your mother was a wise woman. Lots of people feel ups and downs with the moon, I suspect she is trying to remind us of who and what we are xx
Red Clover and Rhodiola are great herbs for this time. Glad they helped you and your facial salve sounds wonderful xx

Been in the throws of menopause for some time. The hot flashes are killing me. I have them every hour of the day and night. ( seriously....I've timed them!)
Of all the videos I've watched, this one spoke to me. So simple. And your advice, I'm going to take it and use it wisely.
I do notice the change in attitude! Which is a nice change for me cause I've never used my voice to stand up for myself.
Now I do.😊
Thank you Terri❤❤❤
So agree with this comment! x
Delighted for you. It can be that simple - just looking closely at such things and making a change. xx
You bet we do! I love that suggestion😂
It would be wonderful to have a conference of wise women sharing those experiences xx
love it this is my first year with out my moomtime my greys are more like tinsel my mom says
Sounds b eautiful xx
"tinsel" -- love it! I'm going to remember that. I've got plenty now I'm pushing 70!💖💖💖
Wonderful Teri! My god there’s so much doom and gloom about the menopause! I know it can be hard but it’s not a sickness it’s part of life I believe!
Yep, I agree xx
Many blessings to you Melanie and good luck with your Reiki life. Thanks for reiterating - No fear!
You have bluebells already! 💙
I know!! xx
While foraging in our garden today - my husband complimented me on being a wise woman! sending love and blessings to all the wise women out there and welcome to new ones
How lovely of him! Give him a big hug! xx
59 and still hot flashes, night swimming, and already 9 years long! 🤦🏼♀️ I’m trying the sage 🪴 thanks for the tip ✨👌❤️
Give it about three months - we are all different but generally for hormonal balance we might want to give something that long to have real effect. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGardenthank u ❤
@@mikeinportland30that is so nice to say , thank u 🙏🏻 ✨
My guide through menopause was Susun Weed's book, "The Menopausal Years" and the herbal allies I most used were sage, motherwort, peppermint, St. John's wort...and I forgot the other one! I'm now 74 and made the transition quite smoothely a couple decades ago with mild night sweats, some mild tachycardia, and weirdly...formication - the feeling of ants on my skin. I credit the herbs with getting through.
A very handy book xx I also had that horrible feeling, I put it down to anaemia and the effect of that on my nervous system. Glad that is over😂
Another lovely Sunday afternoon message from the garden.❤
Glad you think so xx
Thank you so much, dear gorgeous Terri! I am turning 54 at the end of the month...and I honestly can't even remember going through the menopause (even though my periods stopped around ten-years ago)...and, if I am going through it now...hmmm, I must be acing it...hehe!!!! Aside from occasional night sweats...I feel exactly the same. I have always seen the beauty in everyone/everything...so, when I look down at my aged hands, it reminds me how grateful I am to still be here, now...alive!!! 💗💗💗
Yes, I think you are acing it😂 and yes, gratitude is vital for well being xx
Love your attitude to the menopause Terri ❤
Only way to be I think - and it is true - new adventures and freedom xx
You're spot on Terri! I don't worry about my wrinkles, I consider this part of life. I don't see myself as the crone, but the Empress, older but much wiser!! I was born on the 17th, & that has become my Life Number, I will remain 17 in spirit & mind until such time! Your garden looks so Beautiful as always! Lot's of Love & Many Blessings❤🐝🌻PS/ my crow's feet represent laughter & joy in life👌
I love that number - it was my number on the school register and it was a great age too . Great attitude to wrinkles too xx
As a male, listening to this was very interesting. You give good natural advice and you make us love ourselves a little more.
I hope so. Mirror work is something I would strongly recommend. Looking into your own eyes can be difficult for some people but it really helps xx
Sorry to hear it was so hard on you . Sometimes it can be what else is going on in our lives so hope life is easier for you now xx
And Ashwaganda can help the heart too, help which some people need at this time. xx
Menopause was the best thing that ever happened to me.
Glad you are enjoying the empowerment and freedom xx
@Nigelsmom, that is awesome! Can you expand a little on this? 😊
So sorry for your loss. Blessings and peace to you.🕊️🙏🏻
❤
Hugs to you too and congratulations on the publication of your book. What is the title, share it here with us xx
Thank you Terri x
Thank you for this pep talk! 53 and still regular cycles but have all the symptoms, been going on for 8 years, no sign of changing. The impression of invisibility is very real among colleagues, I feel it might have been slightly easier for women who didn't have to be sharp and fog-free in the workplace let alone the physical challenges of energy levels expected in your 50s. There's really not much support for us working in the NHS, particularly if on call, no support at all, expected to carry on like our colleagues in their 20s. 😔
Hope it helps somewhat x
I went through menopause kind of early at 49 yrs old along with stage 3b melanoma. I made a lot of lifestyle and diet changes because of the cancer. I started eating simply and clean... I didn't notice menopause except all of a sudden one day I woke up and no longer had a period. Additionally I'm sure the changes I made helped me beat cancer...it's been 15 yrs ago.
Congratulations! You must be so proud of yourself and a great example to all who know you xx
I think there are fewer of them because of logging in South America. Hoping your plans work to nourish them xx
Great mindset xx 😁👍
Thank you Terri. I always forward to your Sunday video . I stop worrying about what people thought about me a long time ago. Thank you for your advice. ❤
You are so welcome and it is best way to me. We know at our age that we can't please everyone😂 xx
Thank you💕💕🌸👏👏
Try including some legumes in your diet such as lentils and chickpeas - they are phyto-oestrogens and can help relieve symptoms too xx
Good morning Terri Thank you for my order. Your books are going down well. Very informative and easy to understand .
Great to see you this morning. Very interesting . Have a great week. X
You are so welcome! Hope you have a great week too - I bet you will😀
Beautiful words thank you when I went through the change I had a party no more periods no more cramps etc.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden thanks but hard watching my daughter with her periods she has pmdd, and special needs 2 year old permanently
Yes, movement! And telling ourselves nice things. Sage is great, I agree. Xx
Movement and dance and what ever takes your fancy xx
Thank you, Terri. I passed through mine with very little fanfare. I chose a natural path, using herbs and bringing soy products into my diet. I did feel a mild sense of grieving (no more babies). But it's no more a medical condition than is puberty.👍🇨🇦😎
Exactly! We should revel in these opportunities of change xx
Please explain how you incorporated soy. Kind and preparation?
Thank you! This is a subject that is not talked about enough! We are all different and there are many ways to deal with the issues of this change. For me peppermint iced tea and ice water was helpful and using yoga cooling breathing.
Great tip - definitely cooling techniques will work. Each to their own and find what works for you xx
Blessings to you always🙏❤you are light and lift for the soul🌷🌻
Wow, thank you xx
A wonderful positive lady! you are so right about the menopause being a new adventure in your life's journey. xx
It was difficult in the beginning. Found it be helpful to see it as a rite of passage, a new adventure xx
I love Sage, & thank you so much for mentioning how awesome that Sage is, & for letting women know some details so that they know they're not going crazy, but that it's just a natural part of life for women💖 Embrace every day with love & compassion for yourself because life is short❤
Great advice! xx
I now make all my own skin and bodycare with herbs and drink herbal teas and make oximels (thanks to you)
Good for you - keep making them xx
You are so right about the feeling useless and not wanting to do anything outside you comfort area. Thankyou so much for this video. God bless you
Got to get over that feeling and conquer the world!
All the best to you too Sherry. Support is important xx
And it all sounds so wonderful because your positive attitude made it so - good luck with the retirement plans xx
Well….thank you Terri for this one! You are so encouraging….I’m determined, at 62…to be amazing! We are all amazing woman … no matter our age❣️
Yes, you already are an amazing woman - look at all you have achieved in life - and I am not referring to your material comforts xx😀
Most women I know don't suffer like I do😢
She is a wonder, brilliant common sense
Woah! 11 years... it's safe to say you're a warrior woman! 💪
I watched the Barbara o Niell talk as well.
Christiane Northrup suggests a progesterone cream for the migraine problem so I'm trying to source a good one...
if I exercise and drastically limit any kind of sugar input, the hot flashes seem to just go away (and of course no alcohol)
100% agree! Terri, what an important and empowering video this is!! You’re such a 💎 gem.
Delighted that you liked the video xx
There are some wonderful remedies like homeopathic Lachesis, sepia etc etc that works so well for menopause
Yes most definitely
Thanks Terri "tender bluebells, at whose birth The sod scarce heaved "(Shelley)
A lovely line xx
Dziękuję, pozdrawiam z Polski😊
Well said Terri, it is not all negative, in fact there is FREEDOM!!! Wonderful colours are returning to, the landscape and the dogs are having a wonderful time, what an incredible existance. So true what you say about ageing, there are so many children these days will never experience as there lives are being cut short .by all the atrocities. Both my Grandparents where highly regarded due to their age and experience.
Glad to hear they got the recognition for a life time accumulation of wisdom and experience and hope you do too when it is your time xx
This is a health issue that can be rectified with herbs. xx
I loved this video as I am slowly making that menopausal transition at 49. Thankfully so far, I haven't had a rough go of it.
Eat well - whole foods, local seasonal and organic and you will be fine xx
Danu this was a lovely idea to talk about Menopause! It is so natural !
Hope it was helpful xx
Brilliant and inspiring as always. I would also like to add that the herb Ashwagandha works to correct and heal eastrogen levels (whether they are too low or too high).
Thanks for sharing! Like Vitex Agnus Castus - lots of herbs so there will be one that will suit anyone. xx
Love to you too.. And yes, when you se something like that you do appreciate getting older
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden ❤
Thank you , lovely video
You're welcome xx
Well said Terri! It’s time for us. Although many around me struggle with that. Always good to watch you!
It can be a struggle - but anything worth anything is worth struggling for and we are talking about the rest of our lives!! Glad you enjoyed it xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden you definitely put it in perspective. Have a day as lovely as you are!
Terri, from the US here, I so enjoy all of your videos, very helpful information as always. Thank-you for all you do for us.
Thanks so much Brenda - hope you are well xx
Thanks Terri, I can now embrace my "crone" phase. Thankfully not too many symptoms except having a hysterectomy four years ago. But I can now say that I have embraced this stage of my life and feel fine. You are right about not caring what anyone thinks, swearing and dying hair - I am doing all three 😊. Looking forward to my 65th birthday in May and growing old disgracefully.💃
Happy Birthday for May in case we forget xx and many happy returns for being disgraceful😂🎈
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thank you
Brilliant!
🙏
We are sorely needed - more than ever as you say. Sometimes I have to bite my tongue😂
Thanks for sharing! Another great tip!
I think it is brilliant! No blood, no kids, FREE!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
you are a rare gem sadly but much appreciated I've been actually searching for one person who does age naturally, you are an inspiration and I hope to be as lovely as you as I age in all ways.
Sorry to hear you have been dealing with anxiety. I hope you get relief soon and please do remember, that everything passes in time. xx All is well
Beautifully kind, essential wisdom. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜⚘️🌷🪻
Glad you thought so xx
I had to have a hysterectomy at 27 years old. I am now 31 living in menopause, holistically and I am loving who I am becoming.
You are becoming more beautiful with each day xx
Thank you for this, I am 55 and having a real hard time with it, still having periods, now & then...
Please love and honor yourself
💕🙏💕
Completely understand, could you not put your foot down
Thanks for the book recommendation, great insights I think xxx
Lovely comment. Have noted the book recommendation 🙏✨️
That is so true Terri, proper nutrition is so very important 💚🌙🌿
A friend is going thru this now (I've already gone thru). Her husband asked what she could do. I will pass on the information (I knew a couple of things but you've added more info). Thank you. Blessings sent to you and everybody there..
Blessings to you too and thanks for passing it on xx
Sending love and blessings your way!
Many thanks for the reminders❤
Love and blessings to you too Eve. xx
Labhríonn tú an fhírinne. Go maith. Tá súil agam go bhfuil tú go maith
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Tá ag éirí go maith liom. tá post nua agam; agus táim ag cur airgid ar leataobh go críonna don chéad turas eile go hÉirinn, tar éis dom mo chostaisí níos dlúithe a fháil. Is focal atá agamsa; óir gan Fhírinne, cad atá againn?
Thank you for focusing on menopause this time. I am in menopause and feel very fortunate in that I have had only very minor hot flashes, the worst for me has been sleep disruption and that is improving. I am taking Chasteberry fruit capsules as you mentioned, I read that it helps balance hormones.
I have kept my bones strong by staying active working in my garden, riding my bicycle, and taking an after dinner walk. Keep moving and lifting. Working in a garden is perfect for the upper and lower body with squatting, bending, lifting, pulling, etc.,
Exactly - that is how our great grandmothers got through it - physical work and walking and cycling and of course the herbs and good food xx
Encouraging talk. Thank you!
You're welcome! xx
Lovely to hear you are happy in your skin and I am sure your hair will thank you xx
Me neither! It is not worth it and I am all for the natural process. xx
Thank you so much 🧡 just what I needed today 🌞
Blessings to your lovely self 🧘🏻♀️ 🍃
Blessings to you too - glad the timing was handy xx
I really enjoyed this thank you so much xx
You're welcome! xx
I wonder what happened to her - it would be great to know. She made a great impression on you. I agree with that statement too - what else can you do?
Thank you so much for another wonderful video, Terri! 😊🎉 💝🌷🪺🪴🍃💫
Glad you liked it xx
Terri that was brilliant,Thank you
Glad you liked it xx
Perfect video, just what I needed. Yes please I’d love to do your upcoming course ❤
Wonderful. I will be announcing the launch of the course as soon as it is finished and ready to go xx
Glad to hear you are enjoying your freedom xx
