- Today, we are taking a visit across the ditch! To visit Roger's Garden in my hometown on the Tututaka coast in Northland, New Zealand. A few months ago I was back home helping my mum with her own garden she shared with me that her plants have been thriving due to Rogers's amazing homemade compost. Roger not only has an incredible thriving garden carved into steep terraced banks but he has an unbelievable method for turning local invasive forces into a powerful ally for his garden and I couldn't wait to check it out. Let's go take a look....

There’s something very satisfying about making compost, you have to love gardening to understand. Thank you for showing us Roger’s beautiful garden and thank you to Roger for sharing his knowledge. ❤

Love it Holly. Amazing what we can find local for compost making!
It is an incredible way to regenerate 🌱💚
Roger is my spirit animal! Love what he's doing and how he's doing it! Holy moly, might just have to use this philosophy in an experiment to see if I can compost some of our Far North Queensland weeds for compost; we sure have plenty of them!!! Thanks so much for making this, so glad I stumbled across your channel!
It is amazing what we can use to create fantastic compost for our gardens! 🌱💚

Thank you! 🌱 😊
Thank you :)
You're welcome!
Awesome!! I make compost with cow poo, seaweed and food scraps, also put them in a bucket with rain water and molasses for liquid fertiliser. Thanks for sharing 😊🌿
That sounds like a fantastic combo to feed your plants 🌱🙌
Very good
Thanks for watching!
We have a jellyfish problem around here. I am just starting to experiment composting jellyfish that wash up with gum tree leaves.
Wow! I've never heard of composting jellyfish before but as long as they are not poisonous I'm intrigued!
@@SustainableHolly They have a slight sting when alive but any venom they produce breaks down when they are dead and decomposing. The problem is more their salt content. That is why I am composting them with high carbon material like gum leaves. Hopefully that binds up some of the salt rather than using them direct in the garden.
Wonderful 😘
Thank you! 🌱
Everything goes to the chooks. Then from the chooks into the pile and I just let it sit, and then I turn it over every few weeks when I change the chook pen wood shavings (wood shavings now filled with chook poo). Into the garden and rinse and repeat.
And added benefit of eggs 🌱🙌
Dead sea urchins, bull manure... wow... that must smell lovely!
One kiwi to another:
Q: What's a hindu?
A: Lays iggs bro.
Sorry Holl's, couldn't resist😂.
Haha in my world, i have no accent 🤷♀️🤣
@@SustainableHolly What accint?🤣. Funny thing is I only saw that joke today then you're new video popped up. Synchronicity.
Looks like Roger lives in a magic place❤.
