    I'm black and I met and married a Korean guy while I was living in Seoul. Lucky for me his parents and extended family welcomed me with open arms. I was totally prepared for the scene that was described in the video but his family was great... And they are korean korean... The never lived overseas kind. They even paid for our traditional korean wedding.
    I speak korean..not fluent but pretty well (hubby can't speak English) so I think this helped.... I also can eat korean food like a champ and y'all know how much asian moms love to feed ya haha.... It's the best. Just wanted to share a positive story in case there's anyone out there freaking out about meeting their partners' parents

    I don't think women like "alpha males" as much as they are attracted to confident men. A stereotypical "alpha male" is aggressive, macho, pushy, and brash: that is not what all women are attracted to (though some might be). Confidence, on the other hand, is when you are comfortable being yourself, whatever that is. It's very attractive in a person of any gender.
    Speaking for myself, I am not at *all* attracted to an aggressive, macho, brash "alpha" male. I am much more attracted to funny, smart, calm, CONFIDENT men. You can be confident without being "alpha".
    (I keep putting "alpha" in quotes because I don't like using that term for people. You can have alpha dogs or alpha wolves in a wolf pack, but the term "alpha male" doesn't have any scientific basis and is used mostly by pick-up artists to make some men feel less masculine.)

    • @OhFortunae
      @OhFortunae 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Those "alphas" you described are hyper-masculine men to compensate with such behaviour for their insecuritues and lack of example-figure.
      The actual alphas are the ones you described to be attracted to; Self control.

    Haha I don't care if the Asian guy is a bit "feminine" or "not manly", if he's attracted to me but he's shy I wouldn't care about that because I'm shy too. I wish it was different though, I wish more Asian guys could date girls who aren't Asian. It doesn't seem fair that Asian girls dating other race guys is fine but Asian guys dating other race girls is like bad.

    Okay, so lots of asian guys won't approach girls? How would a girl go about approaching them? There are a lot of really cute asian guys in my school, and I would really like to talk to them, but they always seem to be hanging out with asian girls (who are obviously like 20-bazillion times hotter than me).

    • @JustLIkerapunzel
      @JustLIkerapunzel 9 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      prettypianoplayer100 If you think about it.. They seem so much hotter to you cause asian faces are less familiar to you compared to for example your own "race". Therefore they seem more exothic to you and more attractive.
      While in the other hand - the asian guys have the same skin colour like those girls which means they look not as special to them. So I would doubt that you're less attractive to them based on your skin colour - if anything it would be the opposite.
      So if you're interested - just go for it girl! Know your own value and beauty so that this beauty shines bride enough for anyone to see who's not completely blind ;P

      typically, most asian that grows up from the generation x & y era are open minded. it's our parents and grand parents that are a little stubborn. I personally had no problem dating girls or making friends outside of my ethnicity but bringing them home is a different story. because of the crap i saw my friend had to go through and the nonsense me and my exgf had to go through at that time, i cannot put them or anyone through the same thing again. i still have no problem dating girls and making friends of different ethnicity but sometimes it's a shame that people take it the wrong way when i have to distant them from the environment of my family.
      because of how western cultures work, some of my friends get offended when i didn't invite them to my family events where as they had invited me.
      it's just a shame... shame shame shame...

They hated guys I brought home in the past because they weren't sure if they'd treat me well. They loved my late-fiance when thy first met him though (he was Caucasian). They cried and said they lost their son when he passed away. Asian men are terrified of me lol. I'm 100% Chinese but I am very confident, openly communicate, and easily talk to new people and make them feel as if they've known me for years. I actually had some Asian tell me they're intimidated by me. I'm 32... and there was one Asian guy about the same age that was trying to date me. He called to ask me to dinner and he was doing it in a very roundabout way (it frustrates me to no end when people don't get straight to the point). But I wanted to get to know him, so I said "sure, that'd be great where are we go..." before I could finish my sentence, he says "well you don't have to if you don't want to." I laughed and said reassuringly, "I just said yes, so it's all good." And he says yet again, "I mean I'm sure you're a very busy woman so you don't have to say yes to make me feel better, I'll understand if you don't want to." I finally said a little more firmly, "Look, I don't know what kind of women you dealt with in the past, but I am very direct and I have no problems telling you no, politely, if I don't want to go to dinner. I won't want to waste either of our time. So I said yes, you can accept it or we don't go." We did go to dinner but he was just too insecure for my taste and I tactfully told him soon afterwards that I find him to be very handsome and a great guy but it's just not a match and he will be awesome for someone else.

    I was always in a grey area of racism. I'm white, but I have a large birthmark on my face. I was bullied by EVERYONE. It's weird how my physical difference actually helped the other kids overcome racism by banding together against me. It was painful, and still is to a degree, but it's made me who I am today.

    I recently have been dating a chinese guy from my college. i am white/latina. It's my first time dating an asian man. He was a little shy at first but super polite and sweet! :) Nothing seems VERY different from my past dating experiences but we do get some glances from others, mostly asian people but nothing rude just curious glances. Interracial couples are interesting to look at and I would glance too if I saw one walk by.

    My grandmother was the product of an Asian father and Native American mother, absolutely beautiful woman, inside and out. When I reached puberty, she sat me down and gave me a nugget of wisdom, that still 20 years later makes me gasp and laugh. She was the one who gave me the talk and told me that despite the fact she had 6 kids by my grandfather, a Spanish and Israeli Jew, that and I quote, " To get the job done right, sleep with at least one Chinese man because they know what they are doing." So, I'm sharing that little nugget of wisdom with all of you TH-cam commenters.

    I had a crush on a boy who happened to be chinese when I was a freshman in high school. He was really smart and funny. I sat next to him in science class and we would talk a little but he seemed shy. I told him one day that I liked him and he got so awkward and quiet. He wouldn't even make eye contact with me or reject me properly. I never really understood it but that was around 9 years ago. I still go to his families restaurant whenever I am in town because I love the food there and his mom gave me free egg rolls!

      I'm a Chinese so based on what I observed in my country there are few things u may misunderstood. First, it's kind of an awkward thing to say about relationship, love, and sex in public space in China. It may make people feel really uncomfortable to just tell him that u like him in class( couples always interact in private or secret places). Second, Chinese guys may not want to show "secret" CP relationships to other students. This may cause a jealousy from other students or anger from the teacher. Also the eye contact lacks in Chinese CP relationship which means that guy may feel really shy if u show him a smiling and lovely face but don't know how to react. Lastly, may be the most important thing is that Chinese parents normally don't allow their kids to date during school lives so once I hanged out with girls I had to lie to my parents about "studying together" or "group projects"..

    As a black female; I wish more asian male would date other race of girls not just white girls. I have many Latino and Black friends who have yellow fever, but can't seem to get asian men out of the stereotype mind set. I've hear of the most sick things. An example would be one Caucasian girl in my high school class ones said to an asian guy who liked her the she only dates the good looking Asians (like the k-pop stars). This asian kid was veey good looking. He was hot and many of thw hottest Latinos and blacks at my school wanted him but he only went for the white girls. There's nothing wrong with having you likes and dislikes when it comes to the type of girl you like but he only wanted the white girls beacuse thats what you always see. Asian girl with white guy or a few asian guys with white girls. Please don't be afraid to taste the raindow.

    It's interesting because I had a friend who was dating a black guy for 3 years...but she knew her parents are against interracial relationship so she asked me for my opinion and what I said to her was, "Your parents are not going to grow old with you...and people nowadays...all your friends accept your relationship." But she said she didn't want to be disowned because one of her cousin had a interracial relationship and was disowned. Eventually she said she wants to be with someone she could bring home. Which is sad because I think if he makes her happy she should have sticked to him otherwise she shouldn't use race as a break up excuse.

    I think that when it comes to Asian guys dating non-Asian girls is a lot to do with stereotypes. I grew up in Minnesota, which has a very small Asian population (Up in Grand Marais there is no one other than Nords), and I remember the stereotypes that would be said when talking about dating Asian men. The one I remember always being told was that there would never be an Asian guy taller than me.. im 5'7.5 -.- I never dealt with racism but very few kids in my school did. I think the worst was that I was called a nazi A LOT because I have some german heritage and I was also made fun of for enjoying and learning about various culture, conveniently that passion started from learning about Chinese culture.

      hi i am sorry to hear that you were bullied for having a german background ( i am german). i don´t feel like there is a lot of serious racism in my place. nevertheless there of course are stereotypes and i won´t exclude myself and i think that it is really difficult to not have any stereotypes at all. the thing is that i have never seen that someone was put down for their race or something. it´s only that i get a lot of stares and i earned a lot of "have you gone crazy?" for learning korean. i feel really insecure talking about this because i am afraid to offend someone but on this channel you all seem to be respectful so i hope no one will get me wrong. i just have no idea how to talk about this topic bc i feel like whatever i say will sound racist so i will just stop here.

    During the end when you guys talk about deciding a major in college, I was very surprised. I'm currently in my second year of college and I'm undecided on my major. During my first year, I only cared about making friends/meeting new people/my social life and I dealt with a lot of girl drama.. Due to that negative experience, I went through so much that I didn't want/have the energy to get involve with clubs or anything. However, this year I'm apart of a lot of things and no, I'm not sad or going through anything anymore. Anyways, I'm also full on Chinese and my family drives me insane about not declaring a major. They are always advising me to go into the medical or engineering field and I know I have zero interest in those two areas. Sometimes I feel disappointed in myself for not knowing, but just listening to your guys's advice..It made me cheer up to still be questioning what is it that I want because I'm still learning about myself. Also, you guys definitely drilled it into my head to not listen to what others want me to do. So thank you guys ^^

    I had a pretty bad university experience. Most of my classmates hated me, the professors were really mean to me (one even tried to throw me out of my program), and on top of that, the school kept adding classes to my schedule so it took me longer to graduate than normal, because they were trying to get all of the money they could. The positive thing is that I graduated anyway, despite everyone's bad attitude. But I really hated the whole experience.
    Now, I went to a two year college before I transferred to university, and I loved that so much more. The students were nice, the professors actually cared about me, and the overall feeling was just good. I wish I could have gotten my four year degree at college rather than university. But it wasn't possible with my major so I was forced to go to a really horrible school.

    So I don't have "yellow fever" or anything like that but I'm open to dating Asian. I love Asian culture, in particular Chinese. When it comes to Asian men, I really haven't met any in person that I found attractive and or approachable. Plus I really don't know what they might think of black people... Like in all seriousness. I feel like it can be a difficult transition for American whites to get comfortable with black culture (and we are from the same country) so I wouldn't want my first relationship with an Asian guy ending up being a cultural experiment gone wrong. Plus we look so different, so I'm wondering like how that would affect a potential dates perception on me, if at all.

    • @rikachiu

      I have dated a black woman before. She was very nice and the difference in culture was not the reason it ended. Asian guys (I don't speak for all) are generally simply very shy. I know that is a turn off for most women, but if you are ever interested in an asian guy, simply talk to him and who knows what will happen :)

    I've been asked to teach her how to say hello in Korean by a Chinese girl; I've been spoken to in Cantonese at a cash register. Being none of those, I was tempted to say "Achievement Unlocked: You've found a rare Asian."
    Perhaps it must be a college environment thing, as I've faced very little judgement and racism from people in general. In fact those are the only instances when someone made assumptions on my ethnicity and they came from other Asians.

    My husband is from Fuzhou, China and didn't come to America until he was 22. I met him when he was 28/29. He taught himself English, never went to school, and we met while I was working through college. Now we're happily married with a 2yr old lol. From what I've seen, Chinese guys (& even girls) like him usually stick with other Chinese, because I keep hearing them all say the interracial couples they know get divorced (which is funny because I keep hearing about all the chinese-only couples divorcing lol). He was really worried about it, and said the biggest reason he trusts me not to cheat and just change my mind/give up is because I'm a Christian.
    I think it is easier for asians that go to school here and are more assimilated (basically, cultural/language barriers are less of an issue).
    In general, though, I don't think I've ever seen an asian guy with a non-asian girl other than online, but I've seen asian girls with non-asian guys. We seem to be a pretty rare couple combo.

      Kathryn DeRhodes Well... Don't know about that... A white friend of mine always dated asian guys in the past view years lol
      So... I'd say it really depends... And it makes for sure a difference if they are asian in meaning of knowing that culture and living it or like asian but living for several generations in that other country so that only the grandparents really remember their countries traditions by heart...

    • @TheYARAandFLACOshow
      @TheYARAandFLACOshow 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrThemorningsun I think it depends on the girl. I have an interest in Asian languages and culture so I personally like Asian men who retain some of their culture. I can easily understand the cultural differences and work past language barriers. Other girls who may not know much about Asians / Asia, might prefer to date a more westernized Asian man.

    It annoys me how some people are racist. Like, just because they have a different skin tone or come from a different culture they're inferior to you?? Recently I dated a guy who was white and his mom (who was raised in a Southern household) didn't approve of me simply because of my race. I've been in that position where there was a phase in my life when I wished I wasn't Asian; I wished I had blonde or brown hair and light colored eyes. But recently I've really been interested in my culture which is why I've become so interested in these videos.

      Race is more than just skin colour; intelligence and such also on average differentiate between the races; and if one does not like it in a White country because of "muh racism" go to your own land where you will be accepted.

    • @ohdaUtube
      @ohdaUtube 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      OhFortunae, you have much to see and learn. Intelligence has nothing to do with race. Neither are any other traits besides skin color and general features. Just because one does well in the maths and sciences doesn't mean they are more intelligent. That has more to do with cultural environment, parenting, and what is considered the social norm for that society.
      Racism and the degree to it differs from state to state and even town to town. This is why there is such a disconnect as to just how much our country is racist (real answer is it varies but definitively exists). If we're going to improve as a country (in any aspect), we must continue to progress, not regress. The statement, "go back to your own country", is a short sighted and lazy response that holds us back as a country. If you're asian, technically, they got here first through the land bridge and came back again building the transcontinental railway (this is also most likely why Eskimos look Asian). I've lived in multiple states and regions. Racism absolutely is still a problem in this country and people like you making such statements contribute to that ongoing problem. Also, "white" is not a race... Perhaps if you don't like how we as a country are looking to progress you should go back to your home country? Just stop the nonsense

    • @OhFortunae
      @OhFortunae 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ohdaUtube It is proven by research that genes determine potential, you idiot; hence mongoloids, Europoids and sub saharan Africans behave differently from each other yet will behave alike with their own people separated in regards with geography - hence we have European expression in Australia for example, sub saharan failure in Detroit, or haiti, or South Africa, Rhodesia etc., etc.
      Race, clearly, is more than just skin colour hence facial feautures, hence bone and body structure, hence forensics can determine from a piece of bone whether it was of a negro or caucasoid; hence intellectual differences, hence different average hormone quantities depending on the race. Culture derives from race. Get it, turd.
      Factual; the European Clovis people were the first to set foot on the land we todat call America - but even if not, the U.S.A. and Canada clearly were build and maintained by and intended to be, for White people, it is only the last 60 years to be ''celebrated as dieverse'' and a ''melting pot''.
      Also, White IS a racial classification you race-deniar, you anti-White genocidal piece of trash.

      Maighdean Gemini, it depends on the Asian guy. I dated only white girls (just worked out that way) till I was in my mid twenties and if she was the right one, I had every intention of marrying her. My parents are straight from Korea and I was born and raised here although I did live in Korea for about seven years. Not every Asian guys think the same way. Shoot, if I were single and not married I'd ask you out. ;) Should approach every guy the same way: get to know them and have a feel as to where it's going. If it's not what you're looking for? Next!

      Maighdean Gemini I feel sad for your experience, not for any dating thing, just for the fact that you couldn't find someone who would just converse with you as two human beings, the Korean girls sees you as a leverage to reach white males and the Korean guys either shun you or only sees you as a potential sexual partner. I mean, wtf is wrong with ppl's mind these days, do we have nothing left in our mind for communication but that man/woman thing?
