@@GMAN420BC Ive worked at dealerships back in the 90s people would bring their vehicles in to pretty much have a technician diagnose the engine noise , oil leak, drivability problem , which paid next to nothing when your working flat rate. Then they would tell the service writer ok thanks I'll bring it back later to have it fixed . Of course I would never see the vehicle again

To effectively perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting, follow these steps:
    1. Gather information about the equipment and its operation.
    2. Understand the malfunction and identify parameters to evaluate.
    3. Identify the source of the problem and correct/repair the component.
    4. Verify the repair and perform root cause analysis.
    5. Check for common electrical faults like bad capacitors or seized motors.
    6. Use troubleshooting techniques like analyzing circuit behavior and reading circuit diagrams.
    7. Remember that completing the electrical circuit is essential for it to function properly.

I have got to the stage of isolating the circuit but I have had two different electricians in that cannot diagnose the problem. They know the faulty circuit but they don’t know why it is tripping the fuse.
It only happens when it rains heavily.

If a technician needs to look up how to replace an ignition coil then he shouldn't be a technician.

🎯 Key points for quick navigation:
00:06 *🛠️ Introduction to Efficient Electrical Troubleshooting*
    - Explanation of why some technicians can diagnose electrical problems quickly,
    - Introduction to the five-step troubleshooting process: verify the complaint, determine related symptoms, analyze and isolate the faulty circuit, fix the problem, and test for proper operation.
    01:44 *🔍 Step 1: Verify the Complaint*
    - Importance of identifying and reproducing the customer's complaint,
    - Differentiating between continuous and intermittent problems,
    - Gathering clear descriptions of the complaint from the customer.
    04:07 *📋 Step 2: Determine Related Symptoms*
    - Looking for other issues related to the primary complaint,
    - Using fault codes to guide troubleshooting,
    - Importance of related and unrelated system checks.
04:45 *🔧 Tools and Fault Codes*
    - Overview of the tools required for diagnostics,
    - Understanding mechanical vs. electrical problems,
    - Importance of using BUDS2 for checking fault codes and updating modules.
06:08 *⚡ Analyzing Fault Codes and Circuit Testing*
    - Interpreting fault codes related to the ignition system,
    - Checking components like fuses, ignition coils, and wiring diagrams,
    - Using color diagrams for efficient diagnostics.
    08:43 *🔄 Methodical Testing Process*
    - Mapping out the circuit and starting with the easiest components first,
    - Using the split-half method for circuit testing,
    - Importance of checking connectors without damaging them.
    10:23 *🔍 Detailed Component Testing*
    - Testing ignition coils, wiring to the ECM, and using an oscilloscope,
    - Swapping components to confirm diagnostics,
    - Ensuring all components are functioning correctly.
13:19 *📝 Preparing for Repair and Communication*
    - Preparing a parts and labor estimate,
    - Confirming the diagnosis with the customer,
    - Explaining the repair process and ensuring mutual understanding.
    16:04 *🚗 Post-Repair Testing*
    - Testing the unit under the same conditions as initial complaint verification,
    - Ensuring the repair addresses the root cause,
    - Avoiding assumptions and confirming all aspects of the repair.
    17:12 *📜 Summary and Conclusion*
    - Recap of the three C's: Complaint, Cause, and Correction,
    - Importance of following the five steps and addressing the three C's,
    - Final remarks and thanks from BRP.
