In a lot of competitive TV shows like American Idol and Americas got talent, sob stories are common. Tell a god sob story and everyone will vote for you. Even if your performance wasn't the best.

That’s very true but it is a reality tv show so the audience would also like to know.
They aren't pros, that's the whole point of the show...? They're HOME cooks. It's happened many times on Masterchef where one contestant is lost because they have no idea how to make a particular dish.

I get the joke, but it's really not true. They've done Scotch Eggs on MasterChef cheeseburger edition, but Scotch Eggs are supposed to be "hardboiled". Chef Ramsay even has a trick to get the egg perfect where you soft boil the egg and then wrap it, while the scotch egg cooks it finishes the egg. Perfection as he would say lol.

Honestly, I know they’re doing it for the cameras, but watching these top notch professionals in the industry seriously explain to each other how to soft boil or poach an egg like they have no idea always cracks me up.
I find that there's really something special in how the other chefs came together and told her that it wasn't over. They're competitors, but they're all in it together at the same time. I just found that really amazing, so different than a lot of other shows.
The judge says Kevin’s omelette was too moist and then for Andrew he said that it’s supposed to be runny like that and Andrew omelette looked 10x moister than Kevin’s :/

It amazes me that cooking an egg properly is always the hardest chef challenge!
Because they are simple yet complex at the same time. Once you know how to execute the style you want to, it’s pretty easy. But if you aren’t sure and you fail in some way, it’s nearly impossible to hide that.

For all of those who are hating on Miranda, her story did not stop her from being in the bottom two and having to do another challenge which she crushed. Don't count her out just because she blurted out her backstory. The judges are sympathetic but they are fair too.
masterchef canada is better than the u.s. version imo. the whole tone of the show kinda focuses more on the food rather than the drama. the judges aren't overly mean, they're actually giving constructive criticism towards the contestants. contrary to their u.s. counterparts where they just spit and dump the dishes and said "stop wasting my time"

I started making Eggs benedict for my father when I was 14 and not gonna lie it took me like half an hour and if you leave it for a long time, the sauce becomes a mess

I made scotch eggs for my culinary teacher, and they were hard boiled, looked okay if not a bit heavy on the sausage, and my teacher said they were overcooked and supposed to run like a poached or sunny side up egg, and yet the judges here are saying that i would have done an okay job????
What I learned from this show is that when someone says that they are good at something, they mess up
I learnt that , when something goes wrong , just pull the Uno reverse card
This judges are so polite and have the Best manners 🙂
iv never had scotch eggs, but why do the inside need to be complacently hard boiled ? wouldn't a runny delicious yolk compliment the crispy outside better ?
