I'm assuming you're referring to the starters for both teams, in this case being Isaac Bruce, Tory Holt, Randy Moss and Cris Carter, in which case I'd have to disagree with the "easily" the greatest collection distinction. While you might be correct that cumulatively that four are the best, it certainly isn't a foregone conclusion either. Off the top of my head, the quartet of Swann, Stallworth, Branch, and Biletnikoff is pretty hard to top, and I think one can make a case for the best quartet of starting WR's on the same field being Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Art Monk, and Gary Clark. I'm sure we could come up with a least a dozen other really strong contenders through the years. Also, what is the measurement? Is it for the same season they all had in the year of the game they played, or is it retrospectively of their entire careers?

I agree, I miss this era of football, Brett Favre just a sandlot gunslinger, Kurt Warner a grocery bagger, and John Madden blathering about his Thanksgiving turducken. Such a great time for the NFL...
He was actually the best Arena League QB when the Rams called him. It was the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena League who called Kurt when he was stocking groceries. He was a few years removed from a temporary job at the grocery store before he played in the NFL.
I said the same thing especially if you're a Madden fan, playing the early days of this game an hearing they're voices just brings back a lot of child hood memories

MN's offense was actually better. That's the shame of it. MN took too long(6 games) to bench Cunningham, going 2-4. Had they started George earlier, who was obviously better, this game would've been in Minneapolis.
I remember Domino's had this special going. $1 off for every TD the Rams scored. They were selling large pizzas for $3 that day. Two and a half hour wait. Until they ran out of cheese.
Issac Bruce admitted that he pulled his hamstring before the game but didn't tell anyone in fear of being pulled or limited in the game. Yet he caught the first play for a TD and showed no sign of grimacing in pain. Amazing.

As a 49ers fan this year was a nightmare. We had killed the Rams like 17 STRAIGHT TIMES from 1991 to 1998. Then 1999 happened. We lost Steve Young in week 3, and by week 5 the Rams were in full force. The glory days had officially faded. That being said, much respect to that three year from the Rams had from 1999 to 2001. Personally I think it's the best stretch in that time for an offense I'd ever seen. Even compared to some of the years the 49ers had together in the 80s and 90s. Too bad we didn't get a Rams/Ravens Super Bowl in 2000.
If Warner didn't break his hand in 2000, we would have saw Rams/Ravens. I still think the Ravens would have won because the Rams were horrible at defense that year.
That would have been an amazing game. The Mike Martz/Ray Lewis chess match would have been legendary, the Rams had the speed other AFC offenses didn’t have. It would have been played on grass so the Ravens wouldn’t have had to worry about Trent Dilfer in a shootout. The more I think about it, the more I feel robbed about Az Hakim dropping that punt.
I feel like even if they both met in the Superbowl the Ravens would've still most likely won. That defense was legendary and look how the Rams barely escaped Tampa Bays defense the week after this game.
That and Denny Green taking a knee once more before the end of the 1st half. Up 17-14, the Rams were reeling a little bit. Denny of course did the same thing vs Atlanta the prior year.
@@Deepscope22 I respect Denny Green but he was conservative to a fault, he just didn't have that killer instinct in the playoffs. Taking a knee when you have Moss, Carter, and underrated Jake Reed along with qb's Cunningham and George who can stretch the field? It boggles the mind.

The Moe Williams fumble on the kickoff too. I loved that dude later in his career as the workhorse goal line/3rd down/do-it-all back but that fumble was brutal. I have no doubt they could have easily scored on that drive and I feel like the pressure would have been on the Rams to score if they were up 28-24. The Vikes defense was playing well at the end of the first half, they just got super tired when they were on the field for what felt like the whole third quarter. I remember watching this as a die-hard 11 year old Vikings fan and still thinking they had a chance when they were down by 4 touchdowns.
In the first 6 games of 2000, they were even better, averaging 44 points per game. If they had kept that pace, they would have indeed ended up with 700 points.

@@silverwheel The 99 Rams are the greatest Damn Yankees story in football history. No franchise has ever emerged from such abject failure; (the 90-98 Rams were the worst team of the 90's, and had one of the worst 9 year spans in league history.) to reach such dazzling heights. The 99 Rams had one of the 10 best seasons in history that year. They remain the ONLY team to score more than 500 points and allow less than 250. Their average margin of victory in games they won was 22.7. An absurd point differential. That is the highest in league history. The odds of an awful team turning around this much have to border on the fantaatical. No team came from as far, and as fast from oblivion as the Greatest Show Turf. In my opinion they are the greatest NFL story ever told.
This aged well, the movie The American Underdog illustrated what you have said with the magazine cover and Trent got hurt and all. The movie was an awesome biography!
They would have won 3 -4 in a row if Dick V haven’t left.. he said he regrets leaving.. they were/could have been the cowboys of the 90’s in the 2,000’s Martz was too loose with the term and they lost focus and didn’t adjust against the pats..
Indianapolis traded away prime Marshall Faulk for a 2nd and 5th round pick. As good as Edgerrin James was, imagine if Peyton Manning had Harrison and Faulk as his primary weapons from 1999-2002 or so.
lol that wouldnt have changed anything. Edgerrin James had 1500 yards and 13 TDs in 99 and 1700 yards and 13 TDs in 2000. Manning always had a stacked offense. There’s a reason he’s known as a choker
Honestly, Faulk was great, but I’m not upset with it at all. The only sad part is that they didn’t get more in that trade for him. James was a terrific replacement for Faulk, if they could’ve gotten at least a first round pick that could’ve turned into a big time player. Either way, I think the colts were better off with James. I think he was a better fit on the colts and Faulk was a better fit on the rams. Plus James’ prime outlasted Faulk’s by a good bit so, I think it turned out the best way it could’ve for both running backs.
Fualk and Manning are both HOF and with how good Faulk made the Rams and Kurt Warner, yeah one can imagine how much Manning would have benefited from having him You could argue the same about the Rams and Jerome Bettis
I was at this game totally awesome win by the Greatest Show on Turf my grandpa who watched at home didn’t go to the bathroom for fear of missing something that’s hilarious awesome playoff run you probably won’t see an offense like this ever again.

The best playoff game I've ever seen in my life!! With the '06 AFC Championship Game between Patriots vs. Colts (35-38) AMAZING!! EXCITING times and players we won't see again!!
1:27 You know it's a good play-call when you could throw to either WR, and it would have been a TD. Doesn't hurt when you have Kurt Warner throwing the ball, and two amazing WR's (that should be H.O.F's in the future) in Torry Holt/Isaac Bruce.
I still remember the second the news broke on ESPN that Marshall Faulk was coming to the Rams. San Diego State phenomenon who I wish had been drafted by my team out of college was now in the building. The Edward Jones Dome. The Rams and the NFL would never be the same.
Warner is by far the best I've seen at hitting receivers in stride, he does it so consistently, I'm not saying he's the best QB, he just knows how to throw receivers open, hit them where they can smoothly keep running, he did it in Arizona as well, it's beautiful to watch.
That is cool to hear - broadcasters incredible, miss them. Kurt, my favorite QB ever, started with my love of Arena FB, Iowa Barnstormer taking down my Milwaukee Mustangs (I forgive you Kurt). Faulk one great RB too. The receivers were fast and best in the game. I miss the greatest show on turf performances! Packer fan, but got to appreciate it!
Imagine if this was the ‘98 Vikings tho... actually come to think of it, anyone ever realizes that 2 of the best offenses of all time came in back to back years. Must’ve been a fun time to be a fan.
After watching Goff stumble through this entire season I just had to remind myself of what a real Rams Quarterback looked like. Goff looks like he's in slow-motion compared to Warner.
@@jaybrick8973 That's the sign of a Great O Lineman when you forget about him... before him it Was Jackie Slater . They were very similar players both H.O.Fer's
This was basically the 1998 Vikings who scored a then record 556 points versus the Greatest Show on Turf. You can't find a team that dominated a season as unexpectedly as the 1999 Rams
More than that! Vikings - Cris Carter, Randy Moss, Randall McDaniel, John Randle, Chris Doleman. Rams - Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Orlando Pace Hard to believe none of the Rams receivers at that time are in Canton.
I had no recollection of the Vikings leading this game at the half. I remembered this being a total track meet for the Rams, which it sort of was, but the Vikings made it more competitive than I thought. Crazy to think of a Jeff George-led team being so good.
Jeff George has one of the best arms in NFL history. If he was in the right system and knew how to take a hit without running away, he could have been great
that defense was under rated too. this team was so fun all year to watch. being a bengals fan there was nothing of value for me that year so i latched on to rooting for the rams in the NFC. what an exciting season.
Marshall Faulk one of the most stylish runners in history, real life Madden video game player. And was great all around and as a receiver out of the backfield as well. Warner, Faulk, The reverend Issac Bruce, Holt, Hakim, Proehl……what an offense.
That Tony Horne kickoff return touchdown really made you wonder if it counted. By the way the fans sounded, you would've thought it got called back because of a hold.
Such a different era of football. Love the speed and west coast pass offense reintroduced. Marshal Faulk is a weapon. One thing I dont miss is the push out of play rule. Two touch so much better.
Two of the best offenses of all time. However this 99 Vikings team weren't as dominant as the year before. I can only imagine how insame a 98 Vikings vs 99 Rams games would of been
If I understand it correctly. It was a transition year for the QB position because I believe they benched Cunningham for Jeff George early in the season and Culpepper didn’t play that season because he was a rookie
Bruce, Holt, Proehl, Hakeem, Faulk, Horn (whose kickoff return for TD was huge) and Carter, Moss. Nothing in football history comes close to this combined wide receiver exhibition. But Rams' greatest show on turf will never be matched. Even surpassed the great Rams offenses of the earlier 1950s.
What made Mike Martz's offense so feared is.. they had a statue at QB. But, by the time your line could get home the ball is already gone and those receivers were all wide open. The only time you see defenders in the frame is if it was a deep pass or patterns out to the sidelines. Middle of the field defense had no chance. Kurt was absolutely the perfect guy to point guard this attack. The example is so stark they made a super explosive offense of the Vikings in their own right look miniscule.
This is easily the greatest collection of recievers ever to play on the same field..
All down the field number one and number twos was straight gas.

I remember my sister picked up Kurt Warner in fantasy on a whim right when that season started. I always called that the flukiest pick up of all time.
This aged well, the movie The American Underdog illustrated what you have said with the magazine cover and Trent got hurt and all. The movie was an awesome biography!
Odds of winning a football game by scoring 37 points? 97% Unless your playing against Kurt Warner
Kurt had no pressure whatsoever. He had a 5 to 6 yard cushion in his pocket on almost every throw..
Orlando might be the best left tackle of all time
@@erocs9747 Agreed.Orlando was also dominant playing in college for Ohio St.It was one of the best draft picks St.Louis aquired.
Actually watch the entire video. 2nd half there was a lot of pressure and Warner had great pocket presence to step up and avoid sacks.
@@BBOZ83 I saw 5he game when it happened. Warner had a great run if 2 or 3 years very little pressure and a quick release.
This rams team was so lethal because there defense was also damn good. Believe they were 3rd or 4th in total defense this year .
@A A they beat em tho
3rd
They would have won 3 -4 in a row if Dick V haven’t left.. he said he regrets leaving..
they were/could have been the cowboys of the 90’s in the 2,000’s
Martz was too loose with the term and they lost focus and didn’t adjust against the pats..
@@TRUMP-2024-STF It's too bad they couldn't have gotten at least another championship with Warner...
@@mikesteelheart
I know.
Mark Martz didn’t care for Kirt.. and I think that was a contributing factor in 02...
That TD kickoff return was a back breaker. Vikings were still a SB contending team in 99 even with Jeff George
Indianapolis traded away prime Marshall Faulk for a 2nd and 5th round pick. As good as Edgerrin James was, imagine if Peyton Manning had Harrison and Faulk as his primary weapons from 1999-2002 or so.
At first Faulk was very upset because he knew peyton was gunna be special. Edgerrin was cold but he wasnt Faulk
lol that wouldnt have changed anything.
Even
Fualk and Manning are both HOF and with how good Faulk made the Rams and Kurt Warner, yeah one can imagine how much Manning would have benefited from having him
You could argue the same about the Rams and Jerome Bettis
Excellent upload! I had a feeling this would be today's video lol. Love these playoff highlights!
I was at this game totally awesome win by the Greatest Show on Turf my grandpa who watched at home didn’t go to the bathroom for fear of missing something that’s hilarious awesome playoff run you probably won’t see an offense like this ever again.
What a perfect day to upload this
Jeff George lowkey had a really solid season for Minnesota
Then redskins paid him!
That’s called the Randy Moss effect.
@@rightorracist8203 Yeah but you still gotta get the ball to Moss. Not all QB's can throw 45yds in the air on a dime without setting their feet. Watch George on a lot of these throw...he has one of the biggest cannons in NFL history.
He had several good seasons. Had a great one in atlanta and a great one in Oakland and of course this season. He could just never put several good seasons together. Very accurate and a cannon of an arm. Always struggled avoiding the rush though.
@@sethtate2079 not saying he was trash - but Moss made guys like George, Culpepper and even Cassel look way better than they actually were
...10:25 the looks on Chris's & Jeff George's faces; Priceless!
I got to go to the NFC Championship game against Tampa Bay. Rams were so fun to watch....
The shaun king year
This marked
-The first playoff win for the Rams since 1989
-The first home playoff win for the Rams since 1989
-The first playoff win for Dick Vermeil as a NFL head coach since the 1980 NFC Championship game
-The first ever NFL playoff game held in St. Louis
-The first ever NFL playoff win for a team based in St Louis
-The last playoff game for Jeff George as a NFL starting QB
That rams defense got no love.. sack after sack after sack.
Against a good OL, too.
Even George looked good throwing to Moss, Carter and Reed.
He did have a brilliant arm.
For real legendary
Jeff George was a head case, but dude could spin it with the best of them’
I still can't get over this team....Warner and them boys were lit!
This is the most talented and best offense I’ve ever seen don’t know how they didn’t win more
@NFL Throwback
I absolutely appreciate your outstanding coverage of the STL Rams I'm born and raised here so I wanna send a special Stl Derrty salute to u cuzzo 💪💪💪💪💪☝️
I'm from St Louis, and was a Cowboys fan b4 they came. So I never left my Boyz. But this was good for the city. And with Nelly coming out too about the same time, the Loo was rockin.
Easily...the most potent offensive squad in the history of the NFL. Man, I miss the days of anticipating this team taking the field on a weekly basis.
Seeing how my Rams are playing this year keeps bringing me back to videos like this so that I can actually see us score 😞
Dude I will never forget watching this team (the 1999-2002 rams) it was to this day, the funnest team I have ever seen.. just completely stacked
Jim Beaux 2002 they sucked 2003 they were good but Warner got benched half way through
The best playoff game I've ever seen in my life!! With the '06 AFC Championship Game between Patriots vs. Colts (35-38)
AMAZING!!
The Rams and the NFL would never be the same.
some of these hits would get you ejected nowadays
Sean Bosworth shut up
definitely..
Aside from the one where the guy lead with his helmet on George, they looked pretty benign to me. At least in this particular clip. * shrug *
This was the year the jags 14-2 should've made the superbowl
All 3 Jags losses that year came from the Titans.
And only lost to the titans lmao
jags had the #1 offense AND defense. Nobody remembers how AMAZING those 90s jags really were until Coughlin fucked em all up money wise.
@@RobReynard5884rams had the #1 offense
I watched this game with my dad. He was so pissed they left LA yet he was cheering like crazy!
Same here not same without him gone
"The Rams were only behind 4 minutes and 11 seconds. They have some work to do.
Rams: 'k.
so next week, can it be the divisional round between the vikings and eagles?
@Rowdy Jr. idk, that's already up on the NFL's main channel
Boy that Vikings offense was loaded too.
except for jeff George
@@ddiesel1836 his canon arm was perfect for Randy Moss… had a record of 8-2 as a starter that year
Warner is by far the best I've seen at hitting receivers in stride, he does it so consistently, I'm not saying he's the best QB, he just knows how to throw receivers open, hit them where they can smoothly keep running, he did it in Arizona as well, it's beautiful to watch.
That first pass to Bruce was thrown through 5 guys and how many different people caught passes. Amazing
Jeff George as QB of that Vikings team.... Can only imagine how they would have performed with an All Pro behind center
I miss John Madden & Pat Summerall.
We all do and wayyyy better than joe buck even though jack buck is a st louis legend
I remember watching this game…they were so explosive.
I am 57 years old and remember watching Madden coach in addition to these two hosting Football for nearly half of my life.
Imagine if this was the ‘98 Vikings tho... actually come to think of it, anyone ever realizes that 2 of the best offenses of all time came in back to back years. Must’ve been a fun time to be a fan.
Back when football was watchable. Miss those days.
This football looks way more fun than what we watch today
Can you do the 2006 afc divisional round between the pats and chargers in SD?
After watching Goff stumble through this entire season I just had to remind myself of what a real Rams Quarterback looked like. Goff looks like he's in slow-motion compared to Warner.
My favorite channel love throwback highlights
If the Vikings had had all those give-aways and blown that opening kickoff in the 3rd quarter this would've been a pretty close game.
Great choice! BTW love that the current day Rams are wearing their throwbacks tonight too.
Same here!
The best rams uniform
Duuuuuuudeeee, this is epic!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌👍🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
I remember watching this game!👍
Awesome!!! Brings back Great memories.....

Isaac Bruce Touchdown
2nd round pick by the LA Rams 🐏 (1994)
Led the league in TD catches in 1997
SB34 champion-1999/2000 STL Rams
This is the epitome of a “score wasn’t even that close” game.
I don't like how the Rams let up early and let the Vikes get those onsides
Watching the 2021 Rams, I see a ton of similarities to the 2000 squad. It’s a lot of fun to watch!
Vintage Jeff George at times he could look great at times he could look clueless esp against basic blitzes lol
Like the days with the falcons
GSOTII is begins week 5.. Warner tagged them that last night after the slaughter.. Per Gurley, we're unbeatable
Good old Summerall and Madden. Loved hearing those comforting voices from yesteryear.
Rams had a legendary team faulk warner bruce and holt 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I loved watching Jeff George throw the football. Great arm 👍
This was basically the 1998 Vikings who scored a then record 556 points versus the Greatest Show on Turf. You can't find a team that dominated a season as unexpectedly as the 1999 Rams
Ya even the next year when giants beat them 41-0
Two best offenses
I was there, the first Rams play was electrifying.
damn I forgot how raw they was!!! damn I feel so old 😂 how many hall of famers out there 5?
More than that!
Vikings - Cris Carter, Randy Moss, Randall McDaniel, John Randle, Chris Doleman.
Rams - Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Orlando Pace
Hard to believe none of the Rams receivers at that time are in Canton.
@@jayNicks10 pretty sure Bruce got in? And Holt will get in soon anyways.
@@jayNicks10 Bruce is in and I'm certain Holt will be in as well in time. Receivers rarely get first ballot HOF.
If he was in the right system and knew how to take a hit without running away, he could have been great
This game haunts me to this day. I learned what heartbreak was.
Excellent editing. Really enjoyed the pacing and total absence of dead time.
Thank you!
that defense was under rated too. this team was so fun all year to watch. being a bengals fan there was nothing of value for me that year so i latched on to rooting for the rams in the NFC. what an exciting season.
I ❤️ These Throwbacks, We Need Throwbacks Of Seasonal Highlights Like “Top Catches Of 2009”
Tony Horne: just one of many weapons on that team. Epic.
Love, love, love those tough looking uniforms!
This rams team changed the league with speed and a great quarterback.
Great matchup and UPLOAD. Now i need yo see video of one of these two teams vs the Bucs or Ravens back then.
