It's very cool to find this. This is my husband's great uncle. The stories he told me about his uncle Sascha are heartwarming and make me wish I had known him. What a beautiful soul! He was an amazing person, incredibly talented, intelligent, and a beautiful light in this world. Whoever posted this, thank you!!

Thanks for posting! I've just linked this to an image of a Brastoff fish platter on my website. I used to collect Brastoff when it was not too difficult to find his wonderful ceramics at desert thrift stores.

Carmen had met him at a military base in New York in 1942 when he, at twenty-four - a former Macy's ex-dancer, promising ceramist, and severe Air Force sergeant - entertained his fellow troops with a number of transvestites. who played "Gl [pracinha] Carmen Miranda". Carmen adored him and almost adopted him. When Brastoff returned to civilian life, she moved him to Hollywood where, at Fox, Zanuck cast him to repeat his Carmen transvestite in the movie.

Sascha was a former sargeant at American Army. He designed the plastic dress Miranda wore in the movie "If I´m Lucky" (1946). He was an outstanding plastic artist. Miranda loved Sascha´s impersonations and they got along very well. This clip is a wonderful piece of fun. Thanks!

This was so much fun to watch. I have one of his pieces. It's cool to connect a person, with the art. Very talented man.

Interessante!
(trecho do livro Carmen, Uma Biografia, de Ruy Castro)

@@sonospiacente3334 exatamente. Ele era transformista, ou drag queen. Não era uma travesti.

Yes, D51Fast: He was, indeed, also a *brilliant* Artist---if anyone is interested, do a "Google Images" search for some truly, fabulous, lyrical examples of his work (which is still quite affordable to collect). *Thank you* OnTheBluff, for posting this incredible clip!
