  • Today, we're taking a look at a game that's available on Steam for less than the price of your typical fast food value meal: Halls of Torment.
This rogue-like hack and slasher seems to take heavy inspiration from Vampire Survivors and older, classic, ARPG titles such as Diablo.
You may be surprised at just how much value you can get out of a $5 game.

They also made Star Survivor which i got in a bundle with HoT. I now have waaaay more hours in it than HoT. Highly recommend trying.

@@JarboeGamingSweet! Would love to see one of ur vids on it some time after you have had time to unlock ships, farm card upgrades, build custom decks and go after Infinite mode. The sheer collection/unlock side of the game is where the meat and potatos are.

Would you recommend this over VS? Why?

Personally I prefer HoT, but it isn't a simple answer.
The games are similar, but the presentation, sound, and gameplay are different.
VS is truly 2D, where HoT is Isometric, much like older ARPGS. Personally, this gives the game a bit more depth for me.
VS's audio (gameplay and music) are much lighter-toned overall. It is nowhere near as dark as HoT. One game may suit the vibe you want to experience more than the other.
Gameplay also varies a bit. Where with VS you simply move your character around and attacks fire off, HoT adds the need to aim your primary attack. Personally I prefer this.
Both are fantastic games and at their price points, I would highly recommend both. I just checked and VS is actually on sale for $3.49 currently on Steam, which is a steal. So, you can have both for less than $9!
