The list: (Natural light/temp. being a factor) 1) Difenbachia "Dumb Cane" 2) Ferns 3)Pothos 4)Snake Plants 5)Peace Lillies 6)Philedendrons 7)Spider Plants(Higher light needed) 8)Aloe Vera(Higher light needed) 9)Polka Dot Plants 10)Mirantas (spelling?) This girl gives a great list for those who steam that shower up regularly. 👍 I would also add air plants!
I had a cylindrica I split into 2, put a pot in the bathroom and one in the kitchen (same side of the house, both by the window) and both are fine but the bathroom one is definitely growing slower! X
Great tips! I have almost all of these plants in the bathroom, the peace lily in particular tends to do much better in a bathroom (just like her fellow diva the polka dot plant!)
I just got one today and thankfully both plants I got are bathroom plants! Right where I wanted them :) peace lily is beautiful my cousins tells me they usually grow way larger n have to be transferred into a bigger pot. In Spanish we call them “Cuna de Moises”
I don't have a window in my bathroom. I can only have fake plants in there. Haha I just started my plant life about 2 months ago and I really enjoy your videos. I look forward to the next one. Keep up the good work.
Erika, would it be a good idea to have solar tubes in bathrooms or shower rooms, instead of LEDs or skylights? Would it be more beneficial for both plants and people?
I got a south facing window in my bathroom. I got my hibiscus in there over the winter but my plants in my bathroom all year are my babies, spider plant, heartleaf philodendron, Dragon tree and monstera adansonii. My second bathroom is west facing that bathroom gets cold in the winter so all the plants are removed but I had one of my dumb canes , golden pothos, poinsettia, peace lily and a Boston fern. But I don't know if the poinsettia will be there next year.i may let her on the porch for summer and spring
Thanks!! That was great. I have a succulent that I got for free 2 years ago in my bathroom ledge. I got it at a cheerleading banquet for my daughter her freshman year. Wish I could post a picture. What mixes good with succulents? It’s a high light situation, right on a bathroom window ledge, above a jacuzzi bath.
jescaoh I usually wait until it’s soil is completely dry. Like there is no moisture at all & then I’ll water. They also need a lot of light, but that’s about it 😬
Jonathan Flores www.lowes.com/pd/Utilitech-22-8-in-Plug-In-Under-Cabinet-LED-Strip-Light/1000384175 these are the ones I got! From Lowe’s. They’re purple so that’s not super great, but they work really well 😎
great video. question, thinking bout putting this plant in my bathroom. If I use artificial plant lights and watering system, will this plant do well in bathroom? /Bklyn👑
I have toxic plants because my cat doesn’t bother to eat them or play with them but if you have a more curious cat that likes to get into or eat things they shouldn’t I would consider hanging plants like from the ceiling where pets can’t get them. I find the frosted glass in my bathroom isn’t much of a problem as light still gets through but not as much when the window is open, so I just keep low light plants in there
Peace lilies are actually not toxic to cats because they are not true lilies! True lilies such as easter or tiger lilies are the ones that can be deadly.
Great video! I've kept a ZZ plant in my bathroom before, and it did well also. It won't thrive in low light, but if you have a window or florescent lights, it should do fine. And similar to the Aloe or Snakes, if it's humid in your bathroom, you hardly need to water a ZZ. Currently I keep my terrariums in my bathroom, and they do great! I do have an additional lamp in there that's on a timer so I don't have to remember to leave the overhead light on all day. I also have a Fittonia in it's own terrarium, in a corner where it barely gets any light and it seems incredibly happy. It's doing better than any other place I've had it in my house.
Cowboy BloopBlorp I’ve always heard that fittonias are finicky, but a lot of people have been saying they keep theirs in their bathroom & they do great. I might have to try it 🤔 I think the humidity, especially in its own terrarium, is what does the trick. I’m glad your terrariums like it in there 😊
Today I planted fern, pothos, snake plant, and 4 other plants I don't know the name of. But I planted them in small plastic bottles, they are so small. Will they grow? 😐😕
if i put plants in my bathroom it would be considered cruelty, i'm afraid :) no window, permanently half closed door, outside is hallway with already lowlight situation. nah, i'm ok with no plants in there :) but i think some aquatic plants can make it in bathrooms with decent light. some of them can be trained to grow above water (i believe there is at least one species of anubias) with drowned roots. the look would be really unusual. oh, and semi-aquatic! i''ve seen cyperus growing like this, half in water, but that one needs really good light. anubias is fine with medium/low light depending on species.
Wow thank you so much for the video! I have been looking for a cute plant to get for my bathroom and was pretty set on the Peace Lily until I saw your video, I wasn’t aware that it was toxic to pets!
Great video, as usual. Gave me some ideas, but would a snake plant object to the humidity? My bathroom has a frosted window, no sun's rays (still bright) and no artificial heating. English ivy is doing OK and pilea cadierei (aluminum) is doing really well and has grown so much. Had to move out a button fern from the bathroom after only a week, as it protested and shriveled. Managed to save it, but it's still pissed off. Since I love talking plants, a sanseveria golden hahnii, heart-leaf philodendron and ZZ plant have all been surviving (if not thriving) in my totally windowless office.
I think the snake plant would be fine, just water less often 😊I'm going to move my aluminum plant into my bathroom right now since yours is doing so well! I have a frosted window with bright light too. Haha, ferns are tough! I'm impressed that you were able to save it. It's so cool how some plants can thrive under only artificial light! It gives me hope since I have so little natural lighting in my house. Also really good for you because a room with no windows sounds rough. It's nice that you can have your own little greenery to compensate
I will give a snake plant a try. Those plants save my ass at work believe me. Disclaimer though: they are under fluorescent lights and at the weekends when the lights are off, I put them on the window sill of someone with a slightly better office and pick them up Monday morning. Yeah the cadierei has doubled in size and it was winter too (spring here now). I am truly impressed with its hardiness. It's not that close to the window either.
I think that a zz plant or snake plant could possible survive there because they are so hardy. If anything they are plants that die slowly, so they stay looking fine even when they're not happy 🙃Of course you can try it out & if it doesn't go well, just move the plant to a sunnier spot
Hi!! 🥰. I would love to have a bathroom bath a window! 😍😭 Sadly, I haven’t had luck in finding a place like that...ever. 😭😂🤷🏻♀️ It looks so unbelievable when I see it in pictures or videos. Your plants are looking amazingly healthy as usual. 👍🏻🌱🌱🌱🥳 I hope you have a great week!
anothernight a place with amazing windows everywhere is the dream 😍 my bathroom has a small frosted north facing window, so I can only keep plants directly on the window sill. I would love to have a bathroom that looks like a jungle 🤩 Thank you 😁 I hope your week is amazing also 💚🌿🥰
Erika Lodes , ty! That’s okay! At least you have a window in there. A frosted window does wonders for privacy. 👍🏻 I think you’re lucky! :) I wouldn’t mind a frosted window so any passerby wouldn’t have a good laugh watching me try to condition and tame my frizz. 😭😭😭😭😭😅🤷🏻♀️🤔 In that case privacy is everything. 😂😂😂😂

Good video! Just know that sometimes indoor plants are the main reason for mold, so always be careful ❤
Another good video and have to say you are getting more and more confident, congrats for that. Have a good one and can't wait for the next one.

Do you need to water plants less if they are in a bathroom where the shower will make it humid in there?
A have a red Maranta and a Monstera adansonii that are flourishing in my bathroom. I have a small west facing window that receives afternoon light.

Hello!Erika ,I have no window in my bathroom but, I keep a big Dieffenbachia & a few plants that I am propagating as well. thanks for sharing video!
SASSYNY G I hope they’re thriving 💚🌿
Today I planted fern, pothos, snake plant, and 4 other plants I don't know the name of. But I planted them in small plastic bottles, they are so small. Will they grow? 😐😕

Spider plant and snake plant are! Im pretty sure all philodendrens are too but dont quote me on that.

good luck to everyone!
