Before tier 8 was announced, I believed Minnesota should have been the tier 7. Being the same tier as Iowa on PC that's what made sense to me (obviously now we know tier 8 was probably in the works). To me, it is just an awkward filler that is a victim of the weird tier system in Legends.

Kansas, Minnesota and Vermont are based on a combination of the Tillman Battleship concepts and an upgraded South Dakota concept.
With their childbearing hips and standard lines they are the Apex of World War 1 era designs and to top it all off they're shaped like a canoe

If im being honest what makes me prefer the minnesota over the kansas is the fact that I can play with legendary tier: usually legendary tier players play really bad and the ships are big and they prefer giving their broadside to a tier 8 minnesota insthead of another LT battleship: in one game thanks to this tactics I got 250k dam and 3.9k exp (it was very near 4k) and its still now my record.

@@maxfreedom1710 we're talking about the possible implementation of USS Wisconsin here...not Minnesota. Plenty of good secondary-focused ships in the game already. Most American BBs have good AA, I'd like to Wisconsin have something different...like how Missouri has a good radar
@@iamsuzerain3987 why not both? keep the aa, secondaries shoot out to 6.5ish, main gun focus with same accuracy. they have dogshit maneuverability and fire handling anyway so it wouldn't be overpowered, just competitive. or perhaps instead of that, 48% h.e. fire chance with better penetration. i am just tossing ideas, as i didn't intend to insinuate it to be a secondary-centric vessel, those are cringe enough as is. i just want a commander bureau so the bonuses they get at legendary levels become useful instead of the +5% reload time or whatever minuscule bullshit we fork over cash and time for, ya know?

I'm in the California the Kansas to Minnesota even the eventual Vermont they're all World War 1 era standards they are big at the hips and narrow at the bow and the stern just how I like my girls as well Kansas is solid the Minnesota need some improvements and the Vermont will be the Apex champion of the line
The Plus Side of buying a Minnesota...
1. If you're from Minnesota, nothing wrong with a little pride in your native state.
2. If you're wanting a "Kansas" Experience when engaging Legendary ships, well...there ya go. The extra 10,000 hit points is a plus.
3. If you're wanting a Minnesota experience when engaging Tier 7 battleships, the extra 10,000 hit points is a plus.
4. Minnesota offers a standard camo.
5. The Minnesota does not cost over 40 million to acquire like the title of this video implies, which means Spartan may be a bit guilty of a little hyperbole which is perfectly ok if ya enjoy hyperbole. With upgrades you're liking at 31-32 million out the door, which is a lot better than 41 million.
6. The Minnesota is not only cheaper than the Vermont but, upon your initial investment, ya get immediate delivery at no extra charge. Vermont customers, by comparison, have to wait a while.

All that aside, I have both the Kansas & Minnesota and I enjoy them both. My only complaint is that the Minnesota should be faster than Kansas by a few knots....I'm not saying Iowa speeds, but it should be quicker enough to appreciate. So in my opinion, Minnesota needs a speed buff.
Is the Minnesota a need?
Probably not, but it is an indulgence and not just any indulgence...it's an American indulgence, and Americans are generally enthusiastic about their indulgings, so there is that. 😜
Tier 8s fully upgraded and equipped cost between 36-38 million I just rounded up to 40 million because looks better
The Minnesota is a solid Battleship it is my favorite tear 8 vessel and I have utilized it extensively Spartan since I acquired it and I will concur with your assessment she seems very underwhelming and various aspects one thing that should be done to improve her is make her broadside more lethal weather more damage or better penetration for her shells either way that would be in keeping with her Battleship lineage and then torpedo damage reduction needs to be higher giving her extremely extensive wide hips she's ought to have at least 60% reduction just to make her viable otherwise she's not that much more remarkable than the Kansas and she ought to be given the fact that how much cost is associated with her acquisition and operation
Minnesota if you look she is just Kansas but in the 1940s Kansas was a 1918 design and Minnestoa is the same ship but in the 40s and unlike Kansas you do have bigger caliper guns you have 50 caliper 16inch guns (if I am right I need to check) but I think they aen't like Iowa's mark 7s but they are close to that level but if you love the Minnesota line you would love Vermont but to be ready for Open water battles because Vermont needs space to doge torpedos but she is a great BB after you get use with Kansas and Minnestoa. (sorry for my miss wording or spelling)
I love the Minnesota and the Kansas mostly play Kansas because you love it and u can get good games in it Spartan what if the Montana class was created and the iowas to that would be crazy
It's the most cursed ship I have. Gonna try that commander Build to see if it performs better, but I just get the worst teams in this ship. Plus it's not fully upgraded.
I got this ship a while back can't have enough arrows in the quiver. Lol but saying that I do have about 300 million in silver

I just finishedmy best game in Yammato being 203k (first game of that damage for me and I'm going to try and beat that) and I had no idea it was that expensive for tier 8

I hardly hear anyone talk about Minnesota. I think the problem is there isn't enough to distinguish it from Kansas. It's just the "play an American standard bb at T8" and be rewarded with less silver even if you do well. I think Minnesota is an example of what is wrong with T8 in general. It's populated by ships that are either just bulked up versions of a T7 ship or watered down versions of a legendary ship. I get why they were added, to try to create more of a buffer between T7 and Legendary but, like a lot of things in this game, it was implemented pretty meh.
I like it, Minnesota its a lot of fun. It was also my first tech tree tier 8. Now yes as you said the cost to buy a tier 8, then upkeep. Its not worth it in the long run in I say standard mode, but in Arena with out flags, loses in money was smaller most times 10k, but then on my wins, or just doing okay in a lose I get 90k or more to off set that, and I had more matches that earned money.
But also to me all of tier 7-legandary to me are not worth it, cost are to high, good games and when I say good 100k plus, a min 1 base cap, at least 50 ribbons, 2 ships sunk, is still not good enough well at 7 it is with flags rare without, but at 8 and up no really even with flags.
Now to me winning or losing maters not it is my purse at the end, I want the money, and each battle must to me pay for itself and earn,
Already had Maine and wasn't too interested in Minnesota but then boom...I needed it for Vermont grind. It's a good ship but I've got more than 400 vessels in port, so don't know how often I'll play it

The Minnesota may be expensive but the only thing is got it for is for the Vermont bureau project and then maybe I might keep her and upgrade her and stuff but I agree I don't think it's worth the 30 + million credits but it is what it is.
P.S Spartan do you think that Vermont is worth it or not ?
Once I get the Vermont unlocked again and there are more of them around I think it'll be fine. I still think it'll struggle to really get going a lot of the time because our games are over too quickly but only time will tell
the only T8 i consider worthy of getting is the rupprecht, Sumner and Småland. no cruiser worries me, same with the BBs and DDs. sad part about T8 is that for the average player it isn't even worth the hassle unless you load into a premium T8 because of the service cost
All good ships but I'd throw Repub, Duncan in that list as standouts at tier 8

Minnesota is one those ships you get because you have the other lines finished and don’t have anything else to do.
lol, that was precisely the only reason I got it, just to fill out the American tech tree. I've never even played it in standard just a couple times in training room. Wasn't impressed. Just felt like a slightly bulkier Kansas with possibly slightly worse guns.

I run Sims, Al Scharn and Von Essen with plotting room and accuracy perks, and imo this ship absolutely deleted other BBs with ease. I love it, it’s super deadly. I personally think it’s worth the upgrade.
Von Essen isn't needed on American BBs they already have improved pen angles
Also Scharnhorst is an overall dispersion buff where American BBs are already really good so you're better running Cunningham for grouping
@@SpartanElite43 Von Essen just makes it a little nicer. I also run Justinian Lyon with Al Scharn (interchangeably with Iachino) and Cunningham, full accuracy on 99% of my US BBs. I personally believe Von Essen makes a difference after playing between the two, I don’t run that set up on any other ship honestly. It’s a weird quirk but it’s been very effective specifically for Minnesota
I run Cunningham and Cilax as I inspiration, and that seems to yield the best results for me.
@@SpartanElite43 I don't know why you think US BB's have improved pen angles. That is NOT the case. they have the standard 45° / 60° like almost all others. Only the italian BB's and some special Ships here and there have improved pen angles...for example hood or DoY ;-)
@@mclovin1357 I could've sworn I heard from a PC guy at some point that the Americans get improved pen angles. Can't remember who it was to be honest it's been years..
It'd be nice if they gave us that sort of information on out stats for the ships.
American BBs like NC, Alabama, Massachusetts, Iowa, Maine, Montana I believe all should be firing the Super Heavy American 16" AP albeit out of slightly different guns in the 45 or 50 caliber barrels.
Balti and Des Moines also fire their Super Heavy AP compared to say Wichita or New Orleans..
For the first I agree with Spartan Iowa class were and still are the best bbs ever built not counting the Yamato and Soyuz class since those were the main contenders also bbs mid to ass except for Monarch but I digress.
Between maine and minnesota witch would you choose if you had to choose 1?
Both are solid ships I guess it depends on whether you'd want Montana or Vermont as legendary?

Minnesota needs the Iowa caliber guns to offer some kind of upgrade from kansas

Ya i stopped at tier 7 for my reasons for same reasons. I dont have the 40 million silver to use,and lose at tier 8, because service cost is not very good for tech tree ships past tier 6. Unless U have a good game in them. So for me it was a pass.
You're not missing much. Just seems like a slightly beefier Kansas. Might as well just play Kansas since the service cost is lower. That's kinda the problem with a lot of t8 ships, they're either just slightly heavier versions of t7 ships or a watered down version of legendaries. They might make sense to players who don't have any legendaries but the screwed up thing is it might actually take less time to get a legendary than grinding your way to T8 in which case just play the legendary. Our tier system is weird.
Kansas is the sweet spot, and then Vermont happen IF you can work it out

Everything you said is true, but my performances in the minnesota have always been great, idk i do better in it despite a tier higher in ships.
She's not a bad ship I just not sure she's worth 40 million as an upgrade to kansas
@SpartanElite43 I think I bought it when the price was reduced to 17.5mil, plus the upgrades it came in under 30mil Total. I don't think most T8 ships are worth 35mil, but it can speed up your bureaus.

Minnesota is a weird ship when it was first released I hardly used it but I do occasionally use it is it better than Kansas? No you literally have almost no differences between them but Minnesota can still do what you need it to do

It's about 11,200,000 just for equipment and upgrades it's just ridiculous.

Kansas and Vermont are just better and it makes Minnesota not worth playing. Kansas I feel has better accuracy in my opinion and u don't have to face legendary tier in Kansas. Minnesota isn't worth playing over Kansas

How can you say iowa is the best ever bb? In a straight-up fight, the yamato would destroy it, in real life not wow.
Not necessarily as Iowa had more speed and could dictate the engagement.
The Yamato also would only have an advantage under perfect daylight conditions anything else would heavily favor Iowa.
Iowa was more accurate than Yamato could out range Yamato and her guns firing the superheavy 16" AP had comparable penetration to Yamatos 18" 45 caliber heavy AP
As in most fights it would come down to who landed the first significant hit and for that I'd give the edge to Iowa because she had a better radar and a better fire control system.
Lastly Yamato was rushed into service and was plagued by lots of problems her barrels had voids in their casting leading to poor consistency and her crew was not very well trained and lacked damage control experience

@@robertpalmer7693 one thing you gotta remember is that by the time the iowas were being built Yamato was pretty well known so it makes sense they'd be built with the potential of fighting Yamato in mind right?.
Obviously when talking 2 battleships like that it's going to come down to who lands the first hit.
In clear daylight conditions and calm seas I'd give Yamato the edge but anything else lends the advantage to the Iowas
@SpartanElite43 That's true, mate, and makes sense. I do really like the iowas as well, really cool looking ships and your right about experience as well, I didn't realise the yamato had problems with the guns. I'm going to have to do some research.

@@robertpalmer7693 yeah the Japanese were struggling for resources when building the yamatos and they were plagued with casting issues.
Which I'd what Ultimately led them to attacking the Phillipines and southeast Asia to get more resources to expand their capabilities which led them towards conflict with the US and the ultimate decision to try and take out the pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor before the US knew what was coming fortunately our carriers weren't there when they attacked and that ended up sealing Japan's fate as the US war machine went full wartime production and was able to simply out perform and out build the IJN after being heavily beaten early on in the war by the IJN
