    Telling a family that’s being crushed by a 30% increase in grocery prices that the ‘economy is great’, is the very essence of gaslighting.

    • @Chicago48
      @Chicago48 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

      It's not grocerys that cost money, it's housing cost. Read across the internet. Housing prices have gone up as much as 300%; insurance is high; utilities are high. Property taxes. Only a FEW grocery items are higher, but the majority of groceries are within reasonable cost. HOUSING is NOT in reasonable cost. In Chicago a studio cost $1200; a 1 bdrm cost $2100; it's ridiculous! You have to live with a roommate to make rent. In CHI, they just increased property taxes almost 1000%. Everybody is upset.

      @@init100 To be fair to the REpublicans, they have been at the forefront of fighting against this craziness of letting men/boys who decide they are trans-women to go and participate in womens sports includign contact sports like boxing and wrestling. ONce, years ago, 10 state governors issued strong statement against this and worked to forbid such events in their states. How many do you think were Democratic party governors? ZERO. This was before women starting suffering broken skulls in boxing. Even today why is it that Democratic party folks are so reluctant to speak against this. Years ago, just when this craziness was beginning, 3 smart high school guys, decided to play the system. They wanted sports based scholarships/admission to prestigious universities. So they went the trans-women route, and declared they feel like they are women. All three who were average in boys sports, now did excellent as girls. Three of them got into the topmost universities [universities being almost all super liberal, were excited to have trans students in their roll]. This was almost a decade ago, or earlier. I always admire these three dudes, who took full advantage of the foolishness of the liberal mindset and rode their way to their dreams. Full paid scholarishps to the best universities of their dreams.

      This is exactly why this country is crumbling. We have the anti-American left that believes the wrong pronouns are violence. And we have the lunatic right that believes anything that doesn’t go their way is some plot against them, and there is a shadowy ninja controlled by a shadow government behind every tree. I can go on, but it’s kind of like trying to reason with someone who is several years away from getting a drivers license that they don’t really know more than their parents and teachers and everybody else in life, just because they think they’re grown doesn’t mean they actually are. Does it mean the grown-ups can’t be wrong sometimes in the young ones right, but you gotta look at statistics. But I know that’s hard, thinking is hard. 😂

      I was going to say that each person completely missed the point about inflation. They are practically dismissive of it like it has been somehow solved. Pelosi's interview with the NYT this week takes the indifference to another level when she actually suggests that not only did Dems solve inflation but anyone who still worries about it is just a "populist who is just as bad as the nation's wealthiest people" in the sense that they should be more worried about democracy in her words. Dems just weren't paying attention to the average conversation among voters who were being blanketed with disinformation about what causes inflation and what can be done to stop it. They thought they could ignore it and clearly that was not the case. Their obliviousness created the perfect avenue for a demagogue to fill the void.

      No! The Democrats were dumbasses when it came to backing Joe Biden for re-election and even re-writing the rules so that he could not be challenged by another candidate. They were stuck with Kamala, also thanks to Joe. He did select her as VP. So she has been at the center of everything going on with Biden. Basically attached to his hip. So when it came to re-election, the Joe and Kamala campaign was underway and already sitting on over 100 million USD in donations that would have to be given back to their respective donors if another candidate was selected. New prospects (if there were any left from all the bridge burning the DNC just did) would have to go through the primary process and that could split donations and split the delegates. Also, Joe declared Harris as his replacement, which made it extremely difficult to replace her and save the campaign. So the "Fuckups" are far more numerous and deep than that decision.

    The problem is that economic growth in the USA isn't reflected in the economic fortunes of the bulk of its population. Money disproportionately filters up to the already wealthy minority of the country. Neither Republican or Democrat parties want to change from this status quo. So the political differences boil down to cultural and social issues, and the Republicans have proven to be stronger on those fronts this time around.

Mark my words and the wealth chart will show economic gain in the next 4 years will be a lot more for the wealthy and those who invested in their knowledge and skills and work hard while showing mutual respect to others in the civilized manners and healthy debates, but not those who cling on to old ways and conservative ideas while threatening others with violence behind the thin veils of hate and prejudice, as they are waiting for their egotistical, self absorbed messiah to save their economic short comings. At the absolute worst it was an accounting error by his legal team, and even if you want to attribute it to malicious intent, it’s a simple misdemeanor (that happens to be past the statute of limitation). To turn it into 34 felonies was an OBVIOUS political attack. No other person not named Donald Trump would be targeted like this. The other 90% of the focus should be on things like lowering prices at the grocery store, which, SHOCKER, also helps those with identity issues because they eat food, too. It's not an if/or, you can simply prioritize it less. Equality does not matter if everyone is suffering equally. Work on solving the suffering part first.

      There are a few things that are excluded from the most commonly quoted inflation rate- volatile things that change so much from month to month that if included would give an inaccurate account of inflation most of the time. Food, fuel, and interest are some of them. Interest is excluded because it is something used to control inflation and it would give the opposite of the signal you need to measure its effect by.

I'm also currently predicting that they are still on a path to failure because even after the 2024 loss they still have not learned their lesson. The major talking point is that they need to change their messaging. That's their lesson from this loss. More words.
      However since I don't ponder to the left or the right or the ridiculous enlightened centrist opportunists, my channel will always be small so unfortunately the message doesn't get out. Honestly very good analysis. Most people I've spoken too including both Trump and Kamala voters find the identity politics stuff to be bigoted and to be stereotyping people. These same people would also only acknowledge they think that if I first gave some implication that's how I felt. It was as though they were afraid to admit to it unless absolutely sure I would also agree and reasonably so. The progressives kicked out JK Rowling for disagreeing relatively softly on one issue with them. Shes literally a progressive in every single other way, but one disagreement so now they boycott her. They purity spiraled so hard that they siloed themselves and didn't even realize that it was unpopular because people were uncomfortable admitting they disagreed with them.

      IMO, her disagreement was not soft, but in fact rather rabid. As you said however, it was a single issue. Trans people are ~1% of the US population. While a lot higher than I expected, it's still way too marginal. It's lunacy to cater to them if it pisses off a much larger portion of the population.
      I think they deserve basic rights, but at the same time, it was unwise to hunt everyone who made anti trans statements. Now we're stuck with an orange dictator who is probably even more anti trans than JK Rowling.

No inflation, she wins. Sometimes, life just isn’t complicated. It’s always about a person’s pocketbook.

      Overly simplistic but not inaccurate. The inflation was to blame but quite bit of the inflation had to do with disastrous energy policies that drove up gas prices and kept them high, which will drive up the cost of almost all goods. Listening to Granholm as energy secretary was the first domino that landed the democrats in a progressive landslide (the bad kind) that they can't recover from. Add in a disastrous border policy (where you eliminate the good policies Trump had that were working, open the border, destroy New York and Chicago when southern governors start bussing migrants to "sanctuary cities" and then try to 180 back to protecting the border 100 days from the election) is also a pretty easy way to screw yourself royally.
      Democrat policies did it to themselves by deciding to be fucking crazy, and Kamala is a personality vacuum.
