Thanks for posting. Did not know that road was out there. Definitely helping me make the case to add that 500 to the stable to keep my 990 company. thx!
Nice ride! Good content on the bike traction control. I have a 2013 500 EXC and love it. Just did this ride in March on my 2022 Husky 300 TEi street legal bike. Pretty cool ride!
Might want to check your watch battery the digital display, might be losing connection or low, even though it shouldn’t be with how new your bike is. Just a thought
Being from Los Vages, I would assume you have Taco Mike's set up. I have a 22 500 that Mikke helped me with. it'e awesome! I have added MX Tech Ravens in fornt and the National shock in rear. that really made it a complete package, highly recommend you contacting Jeremy at MX Tech.
My bike only has a few mods so far. Most significant is the Get ECU system which I did purchase From Taco Moto. Other than that just luggage and a skid plate. The suspension is quite good for my weight. Not to say it couldn’t be better but I am happy with it for now.
Awesome video dude! I hike Red Rock all the time but never thought to take the EXCF out there. So you started at Lovell Canyon to the SW and rode into Red Rock?
Yeah man I have been running Rocky Gap for many years. You can go either way. I started at Lovell on this ride because I wanted to beat the heat and be on the trail before the Red Rock entrance was open.
What were the temperatures approx that morning? Thanks for the ride 👍 really enjoyed tagging along. *headshake occasionally my '22 500 EXC-F. Lowered forks to "flush" and steering damper. Not entirely eliminated but Night and day difference.
It was at least in the 60's once I was in Lovell Canyon. I was at the trailhead before sun up and was getting a slight chill through the riding jersey. Ride was done by 9am and temp into the 90's by then. I have been considering a steering damper. Not necessarily for the headshake but I think it will make for a more comfortable ride overall.
@@dustinhoover3157 thanks for your response! Possibly steering damper helpful in the Rock Gardens (?) looking forward to more videos. *my intent wasn't for headshake either but it did suppress it a lot.
What tires are you looking at? I am thinking of a Dunlop D606 for the rear and a Pirelli MT21 for the front for my KTM. I live the same desert that you inhabit, about 90 miles south of you.
@@Chris-yy5pj Yeah no problem. I've done it on a 19' 250L. The trail doesn't really require power. There are several sections that may challenge some riders.
Rocky Gap Road itself is about 8 miles one way. My total for the day was over 100 miles. Though I rode the Gap twice, and made the ride as a loop from home.

@@dustinhoover3157 Nice, I'm may try to check it out in the next couple weeks. Ton of local knowledge in this video man so I definitely appreciate it!

I haven't decided yet. Both of those tires you mentioned look plenty good to me.
The motoz tires seem to be getting alot of hype. They look good.
Do you think the CRF250L could make this? I have a 2014 250L and ive contemplated doing rocky gap but was unsure of the steepness

curious what air pressure you are running in your stock tires?
I was at 15 psi for both on this ride.
Did you consider the 350?
I did. I felt the 500 might be a little more versatile, and slightly better on the highway sections.
Approximately how many miles do you think this ride was?

@dustinhoover3157 Awesome thanks for replying. Definitely gonna check it out and make that ride!
