This my new version of Aria Canons and Quodlibet is different from my cd edited by Dynamic in 2014 because it is without ritornelli as I usually play during my concerts. For several variations I changed the tune of the guitar with the fifth string in G.
    I want to thank :

This takes me back to my first discovering this piece when I was a child shortly after Glen Gould passed away. It melted me and brought me to tears. This interpretation like Gould's brought me to tears. I was a young boy who loved playing guitar in rock bands. The Goldberg Variations changed my musical life. Your playing of this piece took me back to a very wonderful moment and also brought me to tears many decades later. Thank you for that Marco.

The problem with most guitarists, as well as many pianists (except for Glenn Gould), is that they turn Bach's music into "classical" pieces, however well they might play it, they don't transmit the "spiritual" (or religious) dimension. At the end of his compositions, Bach regularly inscribed the letters “S. D. G.” (Soli Deo Gloria-“To God alone, the glory”). Very beautiful rendition of this Variation which is extremely challenging for the guitar. Thank you.

Ancora infinite grazie e ammirazioni.

It is very hard to believe that anyone in the world is able to perform the GV in such a beautiful way on a guitar, but Marco Salcito is doing just this. His guitar delivers an entirely different emotion compared to the piano. One even tends to think it must have originally been composed for guitar. Now, if I have ever heard a masterpiece, this is certainly one. I could listen to the Aria da Capo alone for hours.

I am a huge fan of Glenn Gould's 2 recordings of this work and have heard it hundreds of times, and I studied the variations very intensely in my composition classes. I never heard this on guitar until now and it so mind-blowing!!! your attention to part independence is unreal, you give each voice a different character, dynamic and tone. so much dexterity/flexibility and the smoothness of transitions, I listened to this whole video 3 times in a row in the past 2 days!

The saying that organists sit on the right hand of God is true, and sometimes for guitarists . . . when they lose themselves in the music of J.S. Bach well enough that his voice comes back through them and to them. Then, as here in this recording, they sit at God's elbow, for a moment immortal.. Again, thank you Mr. Salcito.

An ineffably outstanding expressions of three-voice counterpoint, even the Quodlibet, in a 'solo' 'guitar'.... Now my heart is beating with ultimate bliss and excitement, that I cannot reach how extensive could a single guitar express. Sir, you deserve the greatness of this artwork. Bach is smiling upon you.
