I remember when Doug Demuro did his first Plaid review. He said it was quite possibly the best all-around car ever made. I'm an owner and I think it is. It just does everything.
I've put 43k miles into my Model S in 22 months. Commuting is a hoot, and the Full Self Driving turns long-distance driving into a First-class airplane ride. The styling is minimal and yet timelessly gorgeous. My only major complaint is the lack of seat extensions. Even at 5'9", the seats are too short.
I love your "What's like to live with __" videos, because not only are the cars interesting, seeing you and Mobile Mama living with it, and you two being so likeable and all of that, I LOVE IT (I have like 6 of these videos on my Watch Later list)
Two of my friends who recently bought Teslas have been trying to convince me to get one too. I was about 80% convinced. This video got me to 100%. I'm getting one! 😂
autopilot comes for free with every tesla. Full Self Driving is 99 a month but it will drive you completely from point A to B making left turns right turns stopping at lights and Uturns. Autopilot just will stay in the lane and regulate speed for you. but Autopilot is insanely good for being a free add on.
Tesla is the best car company ever ! No gas stations, No oil changes, No smog check, No corrupt dealerships, No catalytic converter and faster than a $650,000 Lamborghini
I never really understood the criticism of adjusting mirrors and steering wheel via the screen. You do that one single time when you get the car and then maybe a couple of times after for adjustments. That’s it. The upshot is that the profile is saved and can be applied to any other model S if need be.
The criticism stems from not understanding what improvements were gained from making the switch from physical to digital controls. Seems like the primary motivation is cost-cutting under the guise of innovation; but it cannot be innovative if it solves a non-existent problem. And this issue is irrespective of frequency of use because it is a concession regardless. Of course, digital controls are not without their merits. There are certain functions such as navigation that would not work without a screen. But as more functions are relegated to the screen, the less intuitive all of its functions become due to the increasing complexity. (As an aside, the upshot of saving profiles can be implemented regardless of interface and doesn't necessarily invalidate the use of physical controls for the functions you mentioned.)
@@WhatisaLee all fair points, and with respect to many other functions that usually are solved using physical buttons and switches etc. I absolutely understand the criticism. Just not with steering wheel and mirrors. I just don’t get how that is a big deal, but maybe I’m the weird one (fully possible).
We have a 2023 Tesla Model X Plaid and overall, it's a sensational car to live with as daily transportation. While I got acquainted to the stalkless indicator buttons on the yoke (love the yoke btw) and auto shift from park pretty quickly, that exhilarating acceleration from just about any speed is something I've learned to enjoy as a perk of EV ownership in general and Tesla Plaid ownership specifically. Along with our Model 3, they're just SO east to live with that the only negative I can come up with is that we waited so long to make the switch and could have enjoyed this lifestyle a long time ago.
If you paid the full price for FSD you 100% never need to pay to use it. Its basically a stock feature of your car that you can use whenever. The subscription is a new thing that is an alternative to instead paying the full price of FSD. Its like leasing vs buying a car. If you buy a car the compnay wont make you lease the car on top of it to use the car 😂
You have a profile memory so when you in your vehicle its know it is you and set the sit, steering wheel, mirror to your liking. And you can turn on auto cancel turn signal.
Strongly considering the LR. I just don’t see myself needing 2.1s vs 2.9s or 163mph top speed vs 144mph for an additional $14k. I love power and speed but where I live I will have a tough time opening up the LR more or less the Plaid.
Fun fact: The average person fills up their gasoline car once a week, and it takes about 5 minutes. 5 minutes times 52 weeks equals 260 minutes a year. That's 4 hours and 20 minutes a year standing next to a gas ⛽. I'm never going back to gasoline.
@@t-banan Cut it down to 3 minutes if you want. Do the math.. that's still a long time every year. People who get gas wait longer to fill up than people who charge their car. 100% fact.
@@TheMadmax0609 Definitely not true, it takes max 2 minutes for me to fill my Volvo xc70 2.5 D5, and on a full tank i can drive 800KM + you will charge your little toy car more than twice for that distance, and it will take you several hours. Theres your math.
@@t-banan It's impossible to fill up a gasoline car in two minutes because you're not taking into consideration the drive time to the gas station, pulling up to the pump, grabbing your credit card, swiping it and entering your ZIP code and then standing there, next to your car... Idle fees should take into account if the other chargers are being used. If it's a pretty empty charging station, then there is no reason to have idle fees.
People love to glaze the plaid for it beating supercars in drag races. Well what do you expect when a company just recycles all the parts from the model s and just give some stronger motors, and a bigger battery. That's the only reason why the plaid costs 100,000 dollars because all it is is just a new model s. If Tesla made a actually new car than I'm sure it would cost super car levels. Also in order to use the cars full top speed you have to pay 20,000 extra dollars so in reality it costs 120,000 not accounting for taxes and cheap build quality.
Tesla literally makes the best cars. IDC what anyone says. no oil changes, break jobs, transmission fluid changes, spark plugs, belts, ignition coils ect. the time you spend sitting in a shop waiting for your oil change is insane. There's no comparison to going electric. Its literally better in every way
Miles did you notice any vibration when accelerating in this? It's an epidemic... SO many of them have had a vibration issue for years. Tesla has never been able to fix it!
My S Plaid has a little vibration only when cold or hasn't been driven for several hours. It goes away after a couple min. I don't even think about anymore.
Besides the 1.99 acceleration, my 2024 Y has all these features. All aftermarket to create the Juniper refresh before.. the refresh lol. Tesla does well the only make the range, sizes and HP be the price factor.
Sure, it has good Air-C, and UV filtered glass? and stuff, but how many minutes does it take on a summer day for it to get cool enough inside for you to not melt off of your seat?
A couple of corrections. 1) Teslas do not have cross traffic alert. Especially now that the ultrasonic sensors have been removed, there are no front or rear corner sensors/cameras. 2) That is not the standard Autopilot being demonstrated. That is FSD. You can tell from the enhanced visualization.
