Easter Egg. If you have a copy of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for PS1 and pop it in a regular CD player it has an ominous sounding message about how the disc is not intended to be played like that, and then proceeds to reward you with a cool metal song that isn't in the regular game.
+Taureanbeaver I knew this. Back in the day, would play all of my PS1 discs in my stereo. I found out though, that this didn't work on all games. Destruction Derby 2 was my favorite.
I *think* it's original. The piece definitely fits the theme for the rest of the soundtrack, so I have no reason to consider they would have bought the rights to any work that wasn't produced for their game. It seems to me that the soundtrack composers had an alternate cut for some level and the producers found it was both not quite good enough to replace the themes they chose, and not so bad that it should go completely excluded.
+gameranx Funny Fact: Super Nintendo only had that weird grey/purple box desing only in North & South America. Rest of the World had the original desing for Super Nintendo. So not only Super Famicom had red, green, blue and yellow buttons, also PAL version SNES had them. Looks like most of the American TH-camrs only think that there was only American SNES and Super Famicom.
+supercyberfunk Don't hold your breath. They wont be out anytime soon. The lasers they require don't really exist yet. And the only time one has ever been used it was only capable of storing 300kb. They are both reliant on the size of silicon we can manipulate.

Lol. Not to mention; when PS1 came out Final Fantasy 7 was my life! Nothing brings me back to the 90's like the beautiful pre-rendered graphics of the PS1. Especially in FF7. Lol.
+joshiegie lol thank you. I learned that at ten years old after not being able to beat the first boss in ninja gaiden for the original Xbox. that game taught me two things. not all games will show mercy . and using that fucking evil.disc as a ninja weapon (irony) was perfect lolol

It's strange, because RE2 for N64 fit the whole game, plus all the cutscenes and FMVs, despite people constantly saying the N64 could "not fit these kind of games".
We use to refurbish discs for $3...That solution is expensive. But that new crystal disc thing....I can't imagine that being cheap right now...I dunno the price of silicon crystals or anything but blu-ray is already stupid expensive and its just because you changed the color of the laser...I mean, really?
The different color, as you said, literally multiplies both the amount of information it can store, as well as how much can be read from it at a time. It's not by a small amount either, although I'm not sure of the exact number...if one exists.
Of course the crystal discs will be prohibitly expensive at first, but once sales start, they'll go down pretty quickly. Same applied to PC's (which would go up to $2000,- for the basic ones back in the day), CD-ROM players, CD-ROM-burners, DVD players, DVD-ROM burners and now the Blu-Ray burners. Once companies adopt the new technology, covering the costs for research, prices go down as costst will mostly be in production, which will go down with more massive sales.
+SuperGuy13 the funny thing is - my internet is super slow so I bought the sims 4 on disc. Unfortunately I had to restart origin and my computer several times before it stopped trying to download it rather than upload from the disc. To put it in perspective, it took my internet half an hour for an 8mb game and 3 hours for a 1.2 gb patch for another one
Every time you have a videogame in DVD/DC/Blu ray install it with Origin/Steam/U-Shit (some call it U-Play) off. It'll start one of those programs at some point but will install it from disk.
I can't believe you guys mentioned CD-quality audio but you DIDN'T mention the PS1 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night secret audio track that you can play with this method. Also..."ONE-chanbara"? I realize that you probably don't speak Japanese, I don't either, but even I know that your pronunciation is WAY off!
GUYZ, TEH NX WILL HAVE CRYSTAL DISKS, NOT CARTRUJES!1! NANTEHNDOH IS JUST FOOLING USH!! On a more serious note, I find it interesting how cartridges became obsolete but may be making a comeback as a superior format. That is...until crystal discs become cheaper...
EpicJackman They're not your typical cartridges though. They're more like bigger versions of the "carts" used for the DS and 3DS. Cartridges are a lot more expensive to produce and can't hold nearly as much data that carts can hold. But they do still load a ton faster than CDs, DVDs, or Blu-rays.
In reference to the audio track in a CD player portion, I discovered that on the PSX, if you remove the game disc after the level has loaded and put a normal music CD in, the game will play the corresponding track on the normal music CD in game. you are fine until the system needed to load a new level, and needed to swap discs back.
if you put a disc in the microwave for 3 seconds you get a cool lightning effect. it doesn't last long, but it's pretty fucking cool when you're tripping ballz. now go have fun kids.
Wow, I can't believe that for once, the image they chose as a thumbnail WAS really in the video... Kudos for NOT being a click-bait! That is what the world has come to. ^^ Rewarding a TH-cam video for not trying to scam people.
P.S. Gameranx 10/10 I loved it... especially the chica at the end hahahahaha I'll be sure to like all your videos if they have that quality of entertainment
I actually DID play video games on cassette tapes LOL. When I was a kid I had a TI99-4a and it didn't have a floppy drive at the time so I would manually type in games from a computer magazine subscription. The only way to save a program was on cassette tapes. The computer would record sounds (like the screeching a dialup modem used to make) to a cassette recorder with a special adapter from the serial port to an audio jack. When you wanted to load a game you'd prompt the computer to listen and then played it back.
+G13M Thay did actually put whole games on cassette! I had the rare opportunity to play a few back in high skool, and my uncle owns several ancient desktop computers with cassette drives, and many games for them! Blew. My. Mind.
+Vic Vinegar Developers on that time literally worked much fucking harder to compress the game, Did you know that the real size of ocarina of time is like 1220mb (without compressing, anything). SO fucking HUGE
if you own Spyro: year of the dragon, you can access the crash bash demo from the main menu, basically owning two full games on one since the cheat to unlock crash bash's full beta state on there as well.
jack brearley Not really, assuming averagely pcs, and especially pcs used for gaming have at least 500 gb, and a triple A game made 'today' (Old games, and even modern indie games can be less than one gb), are maybe 10-20 gb (I'm not including Advanced Warfare's 60 gb etc. cos that's mental) You can have 5-10 games downloaded at a time and still have only used 20% or less of your data. And your games still show up in library even if they aren't installed
I still use CD's....but then I still do play lots of old games, and often will buy physical copies of new ones. I use digital distribution too, but to say that nobody uses CD just because you don't, is wrong. Plenty still do.
When the music started I paused the video and was like wooooooah that feels weird where have I heard this before... then I realised it's Crash Bash. Well played gameranx, well played.
The data on a disc is encoded in the reflective surface which is actually under the silk screen label on the top. It's actually safer to scratch the bottom of a disc as you can just sand it smooth than it is the top of the disc, which would flake off removing the aluminized data layer. Thats why toothpaste works, it is a polish, and rubbing it in sands the disc smooth removing scratches. Also the cd audio was called redbook audio, and for awhile before the internet, actual music cd's sometimes contained hidden data layers for PC users with music videos, or messages from the artist.
Final Fantasy 7 was not developed for PlayStation because the game was too big. The game was being developed for the N64 until Sony money-hatted the project. Nintendo's President at the time was furious and saw it as a betrayal by Square considering the first 6 Final Fantasy games were exclusive to Nintendo platforms. Sony needed a big game to push the PlayStation and Final Fantasy 7 was that big game. Obviously it would have been a much different game on the N64, but understand it was money-hatted. Sony got their big game. The other Japanese devs followed suit and the rest is history. PlayStation became the system to buy if you wanted to play all the new games.
Yuuri Gatsby No, I play no man's sky, gtav, witcher 3, rise of the tomb raider, dark souls 3, fallout 4, battlefield 4, xcom 2 and of course ashes of the singularity just to name a few of my current favs. I load them all off of my SSD and have all the game data and backups on steam, ready to install on any PC i want. No need to worry about them getting scratched up or fucked up by some crazy ass girlfriend (my gf isn't crazy but it happens).. #consoleproblems
Really guys? why can't we just be happy there are a lot of options for games for a lot of people? if you like consoles, cool. if you like PCs, cool. But there is literally no point to get bent out of shape about it. We should be celebrating the awesomeness of games, not dividing each other. at the end of the day when you all are fighting, the rest of us are actually just having fun with games and friends. also, pc + each console. hybrid master race. ++++
The finger can go in both ways in that disc
xD
😂
seriously i am not gonna google it i want you to tell me what is futanari
japanese right? FUCK MY LIFE
I am afraid to put my finger in from the rear, simply said, I just end up giving her a new accessory from the front view, a less, compelling one.

really? That's pretty neat. I like little details like that
That thumbnail is perfect.
MechSniper1928 where is it in the video
Mclovin Starz It's at the end, did you even watch the thing yet?
MechSniper1928 he just pressed the video because of the thumbnail
Crunchy Toast I did the same, so what?
+Crunchy Toast I am also guilty about it...
I have never noticed the disk/disc difference... I feel like my life has been a lie
xD I just cant believe I didnt notice. Its the same as when i realised that when you make eye contact with someone you only look at one of their eyes
Disc comes from discus, so it's always applied to storage media that is discus-shaped.
me 2
...ikr
+Δημήτρης Κυρκου that's interesting! I find language and etymology fascinating tbh. Do you know where the disk variant comes from?
Hell yeah I was in need of documentary type channels and I love gaming, so this channel is freaking awesome! :D
Once again, I support this message
No one will ever be able to say that better. I tip my hat to you.
+CognizantxNight of course it is. o-o xD
You may have just saved my Xbox 360 game library with that toothpaste tip

christian Robertson nah I just skip the duologue 😁
It takes 498 licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop
I counted
MY LIFE IS COMPLETE!
YOU GOT THE CLOSEST TO ME
I had 476.
Everyone else I know had numbers waaaayyyy off
COOL
The More You Know
took me 499
Violets are violet
Some discs are blue
I came here for the thumbnail
And so did you.
I came here to ask what disc that is. Not for the thumbnail HaHa!
The thumbnail is the image of the video, in this scenario the disc.
+Pietro Cavallanti oh crap
I already am. Don't you know?
+Pietro Cavallanti shit you caught me
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This was actually a pretty interesting video.
*claps respectfully*

the picture was click bait but still a good video.
I can't wait for that silica crystal disc to come out. I want to buy the entire PS3 collection.
+supercyberfunk Imagine the games that would follow. I'm talking singleplayer campaigns with weeks worth of content.
Severity Servers I know, but it can be hard to imagine the scope of those games, much less the amount of time to develop. Can't wait, though.
+supercyberfunk Don't hold your breath. They wont be out anytime soon. The lasers they require don't really exist yet. And the only time one has ever been used it was only capable of storing 300kb. +Severity Servers Holy hell that would be awesome.
+herranton1979 So these guys are pioneers ahead of their time?
discs make good blade weapons. also, when you break them, you get many knives.
true
And some people use them on their bicycles too.
but what if it was your favorite movie or game?
it would be a shank
Hahah I like how you think violently hahah although if you ever use a disc as a weapon let's say against a zombie I'm not quite sure you could kill one quickly but it might do the job done but not just fast as expected
If you came for the thumbnail, it's at the end. I think around 7:50
Thanks lol
what was that game btw? (I'm asking for a friend)
+TheLambBread I THINK it was bikini zombie slayers. not sure
xD
Yea I probably came for the thumbnail
Stinks for the guy who invented the DVD. If his favourite colour had been blue and not red, his would have been the dominant storage media.
.....that's not how it works
CECommunity Productions
There's always one on the Internet who has to ruin a joke by being literal, huh?

+AncientPurpleDragon But it doesn't work like that...
+Kryoc

+Supa Bambam wat
You forgot something important!!! Discs are round!
LIES!
they're circular, not round.
Clash of Clans RayMan they are circular (not a sphere)
ALC0LITE thanks for quoting me. 👍
+The Diamond Hero im just here to clarify why it isn't round and to back a brother up
it takes 364 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop and boy i wasted 20 minutes on that XD
stop
So, at one lick a day, the pop lasts a full year.
oh main god you are a GENIUS (as long at it doesnt go bad beacuse of the spit and the air it works)
I feel urged to do the experiment.
$#÷₩
₩ ?!;*,?4

wtf 5 dimensions
ikr sounds magical
they probably mean 3 layers on top of each other. hence 3 x-axis or that plus 2 is 5
maybe
I think they were kidding 360 TB is crazy OP
Vladamir I think we missed the boat on a big announcement. Or something...
Mohamed Hijazi Stacking layers would add only one dimension, like in cylindrical coordinates.
Step 1: Take Your Bloodborne disc
Step 2: Put 2 fingers in the middle of the disc (under the disc)
Step 3: Laugh your ass off
Kioget Buttborne

Kevin Chu you sir made me laugh
I put my copy of Tomb Raider on PS1 into a CD player and was surprised to hear the cutscene audio. It was a fun time.
Imagine how many Onechanbara discs vere "terribly" destroyed cause of that hole. Oh you filty people :P
+oxoConstantinEoxo gross!
gameranx does the ps4 version of the game have a hole ;)
gameranx haha imagination is a terrible thing, isn't it? :D
+oxoConstantinEoxo That would literally scrape the skin off of one's dick. Hurts just thinking about it.
Rpkiller Gaming well... games like this are usually made by asian people... so... i guess everything fits just fine hihi
Omg I'm now super prepared for my disc quiz later this week
gohu mcnu and you don't have to give us credit!

+Lord Hexdrix and his wicked world of insanity Oh wow, gg
This list was incredibly informative and really entertaining. Awesome work!
Discs? Man, it's been ages since I used one of those...
PC MASTER RACE
A pc player isn't a race.
Called digital games jackass
i still prefer discs on a console. not on a pc, cause PC MASTER RACE BITCH
If you're talking about Steam you don't even technically own the games you buy.
***** he is right, you don't own the game like you own a disc version of the game, you just have the right to play it and of course the ability to download it.
Not like it's important but it's a difference.
4:48 omg, it's my dad! xD
seriously??
haha, nice 😜
+Quick Tuts What got in your butthole today? Nevermind, i don't want to know. Pretty nasty stuff in there.
+Quick Tuts savage, dude
+Quick Tuts Maybe my mom has a penis. :^)
Have the finger come out from the back side of that Onechambara disc and it adds a futanari angle instead of making it lewd...
Even better
hahaha thus is funny,
that makes it more lewd
Penguinox lewd is better
Roland E of course
Thank you for not using a misleading thumbnail and actually showing and talking about the disc on it. Sick of channels doing that.
XD "Or if you put your finger in it, makes it considerably more lewd! :D"
lewd*
+Eddy Creato Nice thumbnail m8
+Eddy Creato I love your thumbnail...
Lol
+Eddy Creato Tehehehehe :D
In an old gem of a sarcastic and satirical video game, The Bard's Tale for PS2, on the disc there's a line of text that reads "For A Really Disturbing Image... Flip Disc Over"
I'll let you figure that one out.
+jokkepokke95 What anime is your profile pic from?
None. It's just artwork.
As far as I know anyway. It's a random nazi girl.
I find neonazi's intolerable, but for some reason there is nothing hotter than a girl in nazi clothing. It's gotta be the hat.
I googled "The Bard's Tale" because I thought it had something to do with the game being violent... took me WAY too long to figure out the joke. /_-
+themeanminecraftman Can you explain the joke? I'm slow.
Who clicked on here because of the thumbnail?
me....
I click on this because I saw this video on related so many times
+Spenser S | same. I don't get why it kept popping up.
+Tidgy YOU xD

The Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Kiosk demo cart contains the entire game, but you are locked off into a small demo section, i made some action reply codes and was able to explore the blocked of sections of the demo only to find a full working game.
+KazoWAR i doubt that as demos only contain a sample of the game and never the full thing i think your bullshitting
You can test yourself, download the Kiosk demo, and use a walk through walls cheat.
+James Quinn did you watch the video?
+James Quinn Did you not watch the video? It just talked about another game doing this, and this is actually pretty common practice. Even the Destiny demo on the PS4 is the full game with Crucible blocked off.

I have to know... wasn't the music in this video also in crash bash?!
I feel like it was one of the pogo stages
Nevermind, I know for a fact it is now after watching further into the video lol
+Shuten Doji What? Nobody said Darude- Sandstorm? It's a miracle!
+Shuten Doji It was Pogo Padlock... one of my favorite songs.
I noticed it too! Glad I wasn't the only one.
6:14 360 TERABYTES?!?!?!
Riiight! O.o
69 Tb would be enough, but I bet someone will try to 360 no-scope the 360 Tb one
I guess there's a lot of extra space in the 5th dimension.
+Nick Anderson Yes, but it will still take 4 disks to play the next Final Fantasy.
There's rarely any PCs that could hold 1
I just like Gameranx videos !! ^_^

hidden fact. for irreparable damage done to a disc. the disc can be useful for circular ninja throwing blades hahahahahaha
i did that it flied like 30 meters
Depends how you throw it
I can get quite the distance with a disc

+Guillaum27 I had Atari 2600, after burner for life
Guyver2391 pretty sure the Atari 2600 did not have AfterBurner. Are you thinking of Atari ST?
Gamer Si Maybe, sorry I just had a concussion (no not kidding or looking for sympathy) I am having a hard time with remembering and stuff
hey man thats cool, I had just figured it was a typo - hope you're better soon.
Gamer Si Thanks man.
I like how you used the Crash Bash music through the whole video. Glad to know people still use it.
Why were the bottom of PlayStation discs black?
Cuz they're OG discs and gangsta's are black

I liked the fact that original PS1 CDs were black in order to differentiate original from pirated ones. Very educational video BTW. Love it.
Bard's Tale on PS2's disc told you that if you turned it around you'd see something awfully frightening... yeah. lol
CoolAsDan saw this a while back. Came for this.
If you would turn around a disc on the PS2 now you would only see a reflection of your own face...
+xGhostBoyx Welcome, friends, to a land of problem-solving intelligence and strong senses of humor.
LOL
Beau Butler Ya know, I was gonna make a comment about how I shouldn't explain the joke, and how I would probably get bashed for it but I was only doing it for the guy who left the comment "????????????" so that he could understand.
It's strange, because RE2 for N64 fit the whole game, plus all the cutscenes and FMVs, despite people constantly saying the N64 could "not fit these kind of games".
+ShinSHOGO Ayyy funny seeing you here.
gavin80001
*shrug*
I get around.
+ShinSHOGO It was actually some pretty advanced compression for the time. People lost their shit when they saw what that team had managed to do.
+daniel pepin I agree with you there, even through it didn´t have the best quality, especially in audio
This Channel is awesome :D i love the way he present to us informations, Good Job ;)
We use to refurbish discs for $3...That solution is expensive. But that new crystal disc thing....I can't imagine that being cheap right now...I dunno the price of silicon crystals or anything but blu-ray is already stupid expensive and its just because you changed the color of the laser...I mean, really?
I will refer you to techquickie's "blu-ray as fast as possible" It will explain blu ray the best way possible.
From what I can tell, one U.S. ounce of Si crystal goes from 35 cents, to $35 depending.
different wave lengths my friend. That's pretty much it
The different color, as you said, literally multiplies both the amount of information it can store, as well as how much can be read from it at a time.
Once companies adopt the new technology, covering the costs for research, prices go down as costst will mostly be in production, which will go down with more massive sales.
who remembers having to install gta 5 with a separate disk
i hated that had to wait like 3 hours for it to install
+SuperGuy13 the funny thing is - my internet is super slow so I bought the sims 4 on disc. Unfortunately I had to restart origin and my computer several times before it stopped trying to download it rather than upload from the disc. To put it in perspective, it took my internet half an hour for an 8mb game and 3 hours for a 1.2 gb patch for another one
Every time you have a videogame in DVD/DC/Blu ray install it with Origin/Steam/U-Shit (some call it U-Play) off. It'll start one of those programs at some point but will install it from disk.
ya mean disc
Yup, those were the good days...Kids today will never know the struggle...*sigh*
360 TB?! thats gonna be costly fo sure. 1 tb is already crazy to get.
/: this one doesnt get it
I thought 320 GB was large...I fell stupid...
+alextheonewarrior 1 TB are like $60 unless it was a SSD then that is much more
This will make storage cheaper sir.
+alextheonewarrior Depending on difficulty of manufacture, of course... If it's easy, this will revolutionize our storage limits.
A Disc can be thrown and it "flies" pretty well with the right wind current. Should be a Sport for it called *Disco Toss* :p .
+Nolan Beardy Why not just…disc toss?
*ba dum tsh*
+Nolan Beardy *flies
CARMAGEDDON OST!!!! I was AMAZED when i popped it into my cd player and Frear Factory played with tracks!!!
i hear that steal wool is great for scratches.
No, stealing is bad.
Tommy Persklint This is the best comment I've seen in a long time.
Colby Pantall tucking auto correct
Really? I've never heard about that. I think I will give it a try.
Sand paper will work as well. It will help smooth out the scratches.
I used to stick my game discs in the music player all the time.
Same
Every try put PC game into a dream cast
PC games generally from the 90s. I know the first 2 Heroes of Might and Magic games had it as well as Little Big Adventures 1 and 2.
Who remembers having to install Age of Mythology on 2 discs
How about Age of Empires 3 which, unless I am forgetting a few, took me 6 discs for it and the Expansions.
Had to do that with the witcher three
I remember the Sims 2 had 4 CD's...I think. Not quite 6 though but yeah hah.
pfff you people know no struggle. Space Ace for the Apple 2GS took 8 hard disks to install.... that was a fun afternoon.
+Brad R that's hardcore pain
Crash Bash music as BGM.
Well played GR, well played.
pro fact: disc's are circle
No they are not "circle".
They are circular.
A circle does not have a hole in the center.
ur right its a broken circle
...
It's a Donut
+William Poulsen out of all these answers, yours are well rounded, 😁
wait. you can fix cd disks? *grabs broken sly 3 copy*
Omg yasss I love the sly games...thieves in time is my fave
This is the same way I fixed my Sly 3 disc!
+Nikke 2800 Did it work?
***** no
+Nikke 2800 Aw damn. Thanks for replying. I have my stuff packed up. So i can't get something quickly. Man, that's disappointing.
I used that toothpaste thing many times while I still had my PS2. Never worked once.
+Aaron Watkins
Worked all the time for me
+Aaron Watkins Did you use white generic toothpaste?
+Aaron Watkins Same my friend came over with that same plan and some toothpaste one time and it worked for like 3 seconds.
I love your voice, so I subscribed, plus I learned something today 😌👏🏼👏🏼
MY DISK IS BIG AND HARD AND HAS A LOT OF INFO;)
im sry ill leave now
+Kiku Honda It ain't no micro SD.
...I'll show myself the door, too.
+Melissa McWilliams bai bai xP
We all know yours is not hard, it's a floppy Disk
I'm leaving now
LOL ME TO ITS REALLY FLOPPY
My disk has a hole in it
I can't believe you guys mentioned CD-quality audio but you DIDN'T mention the PS1 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night secret audio track that you can play with this method.
Also..."ONE-chanbara"? I realize that you probably don't speak Japanese, I don't either, but even I know that your pronunciation is WAY off!
+John Evans what secret?
+quickhakker - Just do a TH-cam search for "Castlevania Symphony of the Night secret track" and you'll see. ;)
I remember that ost, had sex with that playing (unintentionally), made it more memorable
+DJ Moon Knight haha awesome
+DJ Moon Knight - That was more than I needed to know... :P
It's possible that optical discs and silicon chips will cycle in and out of style from how things are looking.
the thing is cartridges are faster
EpicJackman They're not your typical cartridges though. They're more like bigger versions of the "carts" used for the DS and 3DS. Cartridges are a lot more expensive to produce and can't hold nearly as much data that carts can hold. But they do still load a ton faster than CDs, DVDs, or Blu-rays.
EpicJackman just like how Blu-Ray discs became cheaper as more and more people started putting movies and TV show episodes on these kinds of discs
In reference to the audio track in a CD player portion, I discovered that on the PSX, if you remove the game disc after the level has loaded and put a normal music CD in, the game will play the corresponding track on the normal music CD in game. you are fine until the system needed to load a new level, and needed to swap discs back.
The thumbnail 😂
if you put a disc in the microwave for 3 seconds you get a cool lightning effect. it doesn't last long, but it's pretty fucking cool when you're tripping ballz. now go have fun kids.
Does it break the disc?
+Mortal Kombat Lovers absolutely. in fact it puts a cool spider pattern in it.
+Mortal Kombat Lovers btw if u try it I believe it's the label side up.
+Robert Purdin - And did you know you can charge your iPhone in the microwave? Works great.
***** personally I wish everyone who owns an iPhone and/or iPad would stick em in a microwave.
Haha. The lewd disc was made by x SEED
Hope the glottal fry goes bye bye
Wow, I can't believe that for once, the image they chose as a thumbnail WAS really in the video...
Kudos for NOT being a click-bait! That is what the world has come to. ^^ Rewarding a TH-cam video for not trying to scam people.
Floppy
Pants
I like your profile pic
Gavin LeClaire I personally think mines better but what evs
I don't
I only like it because it's zed from league of legends
And it's my opinion so if your gonna be like that just go away
Crystal disk holding THAT amount of memory? And to think I was blown away by my 512gb card! (Yes, bow in jealousy!)XD
+johnlewisbrooks no
+johnlewisbrooks Mine has 1TB (Bow in shame) =D
CainNiner lmao. I'll shit 900$ and get one.lol
+johnlewisbrooks You're vastly overestimating the price of HDDs
we're not talking HDDs here.
i remember playing games from tapes :(
+dots Press play on tape... wait 10 mins and the game didn't even load.
LOAD"*"
PRESS PLAY ON TAPE
(Wait 15 minutes)
(Enjoy Game!)
I remember playing games from boxes that you bought at the toy store. I think they even still have those.
+knyte6426 heh
You mean the ones where it told you how to program the game in like the 80s? I remember that...
I've been avoiding this because of the thumbnail, but this is cool info.
How long will the memory crystal survive a three year old.... seriously this needs to be answered to really understand how durable it is.
5 months
Is the new disk called disck?
No, it's dissc. Disc made from silica crystal.
+Al Muhajir lol
I love you lol
image all the typos on that :)
I thought it was called a diskc.
"1-chanbara" ... Oi
glad i wasnt the only one that noticed that
P.S. Gameranx
10/10 I loved it... especially the chica at the end
hahahahaha
I'll be sure to like all your videos if they have that quality of entertainment
4:58 is this why mass effect 2 one xbox 360 took up two discs when on ps3 it only took one
Vaughan Bunt Yes and many other games that are on like three discs on 360 are only on one on PS3.
+MadFinnTech final fantasy 13 is one of them
Nate Klein yeah I know this
+Nate Klein you're right ps3 used blue ray technology
Some of us did play video games off a cassette tape lol.
So why can RE2 fit one one rom but takes 2 discs?
+John McNemar Incredible compression, and a lack of 3D rendered battlegrounds.
nods* I still prefer the N64 one, the discs I had did not work to well, and the loading times sucked.
+John McNemar BASICALLY, they just merged the two roms, and set up a pointer to the start of the next rom from the first.
It's like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. The world may never know.
Blew. My. Mind.
The word "disc" sounds weird now. Disc. DISC. Dissssc
+Ellie Apperley Yeah it almost sounds exactly like Disk.. almost.
+smellygoat disc. disk. dick.
Floppy Diks.
Nava
Luxman Madapatha wat
How did they get the Legend of Zelda games on 64MB cartridges? Those games were huge.
Mimu Mi ew. Ubisoft's Tetris? That makes me want to hurl. Just having Ubisoft in the title... yuck.
Vic Vinegar They may of used some type of compression
Toby Worland that's what I figured. And the audio is MIDI
+Vic Vinegar JewMask used the three day time limit and having everything reset to make space easier.
+Vic Vinegar Developers on that time literally worked much fucking harder to compress the game,
Did you know that the real size of ocarina of time is like 1220mb (without compressing, anything). SO fucking HUGE
lol the UK flag you used is hundreds of years out of date..
if you own Spyro: year of the dragon, you can access the crash bash demo from the main menu, basically owning two full games on one since the cheat to unlock crash bash's full beta state on there as well.
0:05 no we don't, we digitally download them
Loads buy em on disc so that we physically own the purchase plus something's good about having a collection on a shelf
jack brearley A collection on your Steam library's better
But it's just a load of data
jack brearley Not really, assuming averagely pcs, and especially pcs used for gaming have at least 500 gb, and a triple A game made 'today' (Old games, and even modern indie games can be less than one gb), are maybe 10-20 gb (I'm not including Advanced Warfare's 60 gb etc. cos that's mental) You can have 5-10 games downloaded at a time and still have only used 20% or less of your data. And your games still show up in library even if they aren't installed
Still I feel it's nicer to have a disc it reminds you of your childhood and the times you lent them out to people
Anyone elses mind get blown by the crystal disc?
Atria Wulf my mind was blown by how much data could be stored
I have not put CD in my pc for several years now... so no... we no longer play games using optical disks, we mostly use digital distribution.
I still use CD's....but then I still do play lots of old games, and often will buy physical copies of new ones. I use digital distribution too, but to say that nobody uses CD just because you don't, is wrong. Plenty still do.
The last three times i bought a game i forgot that i removed the drive so had to download the game anyway.
*discs
and Torrents
When the music started I paused the video and was like wooooooah that feels weird where have I heard this before... then I realised it's Crash Bash. Well played gameranx, well played.
what's the name of it again 7:50
One chanbara. It says the name on the disk. I mean disc
+Andrew Castillo one chanbara chaos z2 to be precise
fucking perv XD
+φ First-order logic he's not a perv he's a guy
They are synonyms
So disc divided by disk equals a tie wearing cat? How'd you get there? show your work!
It's simple. Take the square root of a cassette tape and multiply it by the square root of a hipster lion.
Key_Of_Destiny47 so simple. How did I not see that lol
Creamated Biscuit Gotta step up your math game bruh
Hipster lions and tie wearing cats? Why didn't they teach maths like this!?
siloPIRATE Probably cause your math teacher's a SKRUB
Go to 7:52 thank me later
You fucking angel!
Why did they stop using floppy diks?
+Nate Klein No! I said floppy dicks, silly!
+Nate Klein You killed the joke.
Greg Towers Wait! I got an idea! let me steal your joke and get all the profit!
+MrErit23 At least its popular.
Greg Towers Diks? Yeah LARGELY popular BIG popularity..
im saying something funny
trying to be funny
***** yup! :D
+Cosmicbuggy xDDD

Thanks for the explanation of how to differentiate "disc" & "disk". :)
lmao console peasants are stuck with obsolete technology...big shocker there.
#consoleproblems
this is exactly why i dont want to join pc gaming, the village idiots are worse than any other community's village idiots.
Demonism *puts on nerd glasses* "the pc fanboys are superior"
Demonism i cri evry tim
Really guys? why can't we just be happy there are a lot of options for games for a lot of people? if you like consoles, cool. if you like PCs, cool. But there is literally no point to get bent out of shape about it.
We should be celebrating the awesomeness of games, not dividing each other. at the end of the day when you all are fighting, the rest of us are actually just having fun with games and friends.
also, pc + each console. hybrid master race. ++++
thanks guys for make my day better :)
Nice video edit and use of sample movies :D
"We played video games on cassette tapes!" Yup, sure did. Still have my TRS-80, it still works. The cassettes, not so much.
