That was the cameo I mentioned in the review. That's actually (spoiler): . . . . . . The Avatar from Ultima 8. Molineux asked Richard Garriott the permission to include it but he didn't expect that "treatment" in the ending video, lmao. I also converted him, he's so fucking overpowered!
DK1 & 2 are/were fantastic. Would love a remaster.
Actually DK1 has a source port called KeeperFX
keeperfx.net/
It's like a remaster.
I remember NEEDING this as a kid and having to explain the Latex Clad Ladies to my parents.... they're Evil Nuns!!!!
My mother has ptsd from dying screams of soldiers from the RTS games I used to play, like Tzar.
Remember playing this at 12 yo, finished the whole campaign. On the last level I've converted the sun knight

This one sure is a game that I would love to play again. It aged like fine wine.
back then I showed this to my dad and had no access to my (!) pc for two weeks... he was addicted from the very first minute :D
Playing this with mods makes it feel like it came out today. Absolutely worth still playing. Doesn't need a Blizzard "remaster".
I played it without problems using dosbox, tho I'll certainly try Keeperfx one day.
I only played DK2, but I do like DK1 graphics style. Isometric 3D with bold but unified color palette make it look really stylized.
And that sprite animation is so charming.
dk 1 EATS dk2 for breakfast
god damn henemy heros preaching my hwalls
