Although the centric ring fits very tight around the lens holder, in time with vibrations, there is a small chance that it loosens and falls off. So a tiny bit of adhesive is a good way to prevent it.
Is led kit easier? Do I need to drill the hole on the back of my headlight? I saw a thread on 1 series forum about a guy doing led retrofit to his 128i. And it peaked my interest, as my halogens SUCK at night.
The LED kit is a little bit easier to install because you don't have a large ballast/starter to mount and you don't have the cables for the ballast going in/out the headlight for which you need to drill a hole.
@@Retrofitlab In terms of sheer light output, would you recommend the AtomLED X2 or the Primo Ultimo? Thinking of getting one for my 1-Series, torn which one to get.
@@Retrofitlab Are you guys planning on doing a video comparing AlphaLED vs AtomLED? Sort of like your video comparing the Ultimo vs Primo, or the one where you compare all projectors. I'm interested to see the differences between Alpha and Atom.
You need to completely unscrew the reflector part by turning/loosening the adjustment screws. And removing the ball joint from the headlight height adjuster. Usually not too hard, sometimes a bit of lube, heat or good pliers can help.
@@Retrofitlab thanks! I sent a message to you on your site and your Instagram about another issue that’s holding up the install I am doing. Can you please review?
Yes, but 'about the same' the headlights we have used are DEPO ones and easy to open because they are sealed with butyl. The OEM BMW ones are usually a bit harder to open.
We have a database with information about a lot of headlights. Please send an email to info@retrofitlab.com if you want us to personally help you with picking the right products for your headlight.
Because alignment can be done in several ways, and is a completely different process, we don't include it in our video's. But we can definitely make a video about it. It can be done by leveling the headlight and the beam on a workbench for example, but also by mounting them on the car and adjusting them on te car.
What is the piece of metal securing the light bulbs called minute 4:50
That is a part of the bulbholder, this holds down the bulb inside the projector.
Should I use any adhesive to secure the shroud or projector as I’m thinking over time vibrations will cause them to loosen?

On the video, is the shroud 3" diameter? and the lens housing 2,5" ? That's why you put black ring adaptor? Thanks
Correct :-)
Needs a HID kit for bixenons?
No, you will need to install the Mini H1 bi-xenon projectors :)
The product is 2.5" for bmw e46? But it fits 1 series e87? thanks
Yes, 2,5 inch :) It will also fit the BMW E87
@@Retrofitlab what different?
More than perfect.. 😍😍😍
Thanks, this retrofit does look really good :-)

@@stefanpetrov8 Based on light output, the Mini H1 Ultimo in combination with XB35 bulbs produce the highest light output.

Do you need to code em in now, will you have fault codes ?
Great work by the way
Thanks! Normally there is no need for coding because of the can-bus proof ballasts.
can i ask which way to adjuct projector or it doesnt matter and you will adjust light later when its on car??? thank you
this can be done once the headlights are mounted onto the car. But please note, you do not have to put the glasses on the headlight yet
How do you remove the chrome reflector bowl from the headlight if I wanted to paint this?

Where do you mount the ballast? I the OEM location or somewhere else?
Where there is space, it doesn't really matter

how much is?
Is this about the same directions as for the e90 halogens?

Hi, Is Depo a a good quality brand (aftermarket)? There is another better?
For retrofitting they are usually very good, because they are not very expensive and are sealed with butyl, which is easy to open :-)
What‘s the Name of the Tool in 1.24?
Thanks for sharing. For other tools check: www.retrofitlab.com/c/zoek.php?string=tool
Thats right, need lens adapter ring to shroud 3.0 inch

Every time you make a video, you never show if you align low and main beam optically and how to do that.
Do you do that?

@@Retrofitlab It would be awesome to make a video of that. I am sure ppl would be curious to see how professionals do it!
Thanks for the response.
Well I can't do that anymore, I already got angel eyes and if I put this I wouldn't fit both 😂😂
It is an option to mount angel eyes on the chrome shroud :-)
