Merlin and ancient magic are everywhere in the gameplay trailer and it would explain why our character can control ancient magic Also being a 5th year would make sense if that where true because since birth you were hidden from the wizarding world for your protection and maybe you were raised as a muggle so people that want to exploit that power wont find you but someone did and you can't stay hidden anymore so you go to the safest place for a 15 year old witch or wizard which is of course hogwarts
I’m assuming your character is “famous” at Hogwarts for either surviving a goblin raid or surviving harnessing the strong ancient magic. I also hope that the companion’s fighting styles fit with their house. Such as Gryffindors going in guns blazing, Hufflepuffs focusing more on healing and helping their friends, and Slytherins using more sneaky ways of fighting like paralyzing and such.
good thoughts here, i imagine it'll be something to do with the overarching story of the narrative, maybe they were on vacation with their family and goblins attacked and they discovered their magical powers for the first time, something like that, but it'll be interesting to see what they do regardless :D
I think it'll be more base on the companion's characer rather than the house. for example there was a character good with animals... so maybe she'll be using magical beast more so...
Man if this game does well, I hope they will consider making a sequel or spin off game located in one of the other schools of the wizarding world like Beauxbatons in France, Durmstrang in northern Europe or Ilvermorny in North America. Would be so cool to see one of the other magical schools from the wizarding world being as detailed like we see Hogwarts in this game. Expanding this magical universe even more.

Going from the gameplay footage to the blog post had me almost passing out LOL I'm wayyyyy too excited for this game. I'm with you on that last line...it definitely sounds like they're preparing us for either major updates to the game adding more content, future DLC, or even a sequel! My main question is are we just experiencing 5th year or do we go through 6th and 7th year as well? If not...that could be an option to expand the game further in the future!
i def agree if there's a sequel that could mean something like the Mass Effect trilogy where our character can experience their sixth and seventh years, which would be a huge but wonderous undertaking, would love it more than anything i've ever loved before lol
Everything I hear about this game makes me more excited, they really have put so much thought and passion into this. They really want to get it right and have a genuine vision for creating the Hogwarts game we as fans have always wanted. So excited. My goodness imagine if Hogwarts Legacy do a Mass Effect thing with sequels, were you can import your characters choices, traits and history into the next Hogwarts game and it all filters into the next games in the series. That would be awesome. Personally I am so pleased they are focusing entirely on single player, far to many rpg's get ruined with split focus between single player and multiplayer. Dedicated single player experience is absolutely the right way to go with Hogwarts Legacy. 👍😁😎

I don't think anyone realises how big the confirmation of Polyjuice Potion is. I hope the ability to loot a downed opponent means that we have the ability to take one of their hairs and/or their wand

A personality test would be a lot more interesting for sure, though I can see it purely being a choice after you’ve created your character otherwise people may be put in houses they don’t want, I’m more than happy either way though, I’m just over the moon for the game as a whole and I can’t wait to play it, never been so excited for anything aha 😁

I feel like this is a lot like Peter Jacksons lord of the rings movies. They seem to really respect the world and really want to make the game that the fans would want to play
That's a great comparison and I got that impressions too. You really get a sense these guys understand what this world is and what it means to people, so they are double committed to getting it right and being the best version of itself.
Wondering how spell-casting is going to work. They said there are “dozens of spells”, but how do you choose which you’re using? Is it a matter of button combos or will we be able to assign spells to different slots, each bound to different buttons.
I think it's gonna be three spells for gamepad button + dodge button and for keyboard the spells would be assigned to numbers and you could just switch them. I think it's gonna be like in PS2 HP games where you can have only three spells. But honestly, I dunno how this is gonna work utton wise on gamepad.
from the trailer the spell combos looks very fast paced, so probably the latter. but there could be something like a shift button doubling the number of spell you can assign to

so this might be news too some as i recognised the family name "Rookwood" as i had heard it somewhere else and i found out that "Victor Rookwood" is the ancestor of one "Augustus Rookwood" a known death eater loyal to Voldemort, which means the family could be a long line of dark witches and wizards.
Yeah, with Rookwood being in and the Weasleys being confirmed, i think its safe to assume we are also getting a Black, Potter, Malfoy and Rosier at least. Maybe a Lestrange and Prewett as well. Heck, with this being 1890, Phineas Nigellus Black is most likely the Headmaster, which would be another familiar name and Armando Dippet might be referenced as well, due to his old age.

The wheels in my head were still turning as I was eating a bowl of Corn Flakes. My mind keeps returning to a couple of lines in the trailer. 'Who is this child? What are you not telling me?' I have to imagine this is the mentioned Victor/Viktor Rookwood. Likely speaking to the goblin RanRok (spelling?). I couple this thought with the recent blog saying we survived 'something' but didn't specify what. The blog even said: 'No spoilers.' Was there not imagery of Thestrals? I 'know' no more than any other fan but I wonder. Could we (our character) have witnessed death at a young age? Were our parents killed or are they alive? Something makes me think we did not survive a 'killing curse' as Harry Potter did. Perhaps it means we were not directly struck with it. Could we (our character) perhaps come from a dark wizarding bloodline? One whose members could have been involved in activities that personally led to the enslavement or hurting of Ranrok? Could it be personal? Maybe Professor Fig/Figg knew our family and helped to look after us, becoming a type of surrogate father or father figure. He definitely seems our mentor on some level. Maybe our family was attacked by Ranrok and he killed our parents for personal revenge but Professor Fig fended him off and took us 'under his wing as it were. Under his tutelage. Unrelated, but I remember reading once a long time ago that one of the characters in 'Hogwarts Legacy' was named "Helen Thistlewood". I love the name. I wonder if she would be the Herbology Professor. The charming lady who tells the class to 'please welcome the newest rose in our garden.' She just seems to have that bubbly cheerful personality, and strikes me as a bit of a nurturer.

As a die hard HP fan I do hope they make a trilogy and would play the hell out of all the games.
This trailer had me speechless. I will delete all my ps5 games just for this one 😂 I was not expecting any of this at all. The only thing I expected was the basics, like spells, some exploration, and flying on brooms, but they have exceeded my expectations. The one thing I'm wondering is how the classes will work. They mentioned in the trailer twice that you can explore the castle or talk to your friends in between classes, does that mean we have a time limit to get to each class? I'm not sure how it will work but that will be cool, and getting graded for on-time or tardiness LOL. But I won't be mad if it's not there. There is so much to this game.
You should take a look at Bully by Rockstar from like 2006/2007(?) It's a massive template for this kind of thing. I don't think I'm alone in saying that as soon as I started playing that game all those years ago I was like _"Right here is how you do a Harry Potter game. It has everything, and it has potential"_ and have been waiting and wanting this for so long now.
Maybe when your ancient magic surfaces you couldn’t control and you had a burst of uncontrollable magic and it may have killed someone trying to harm you.
I am so hyped for this game, but I sincerely hope that it is a finished product on launch and not like most other games that come out these days (broken and unfinished.) From watching the trailers, looking at tweets, and this lengthy blog post, I can say that this is the game we have all been waiting for.
Yep, it was definitely updated. That answer has actually been in there for a while though. I think people are still thinking it will be more than just a choice in a menu...but it absolutely could be as simple as that.
I’m actually glad the game won’t be multiplayer. Just happy that they can put all their energy into creating an amazing immersive experience/story with incredible detail
My thoughts on the last lines are possible expansions, they already have what looks like a great framework for the game after all, and personally I'd rather buy an expansion than a whole new game if we're going for the fantasy of living your hogwarts life it'd be a shame to lose anything you've worked for between games

I feel like they quickly showed a few images implying quidditch but the fact they haven’t explicitly spoken on it makes me wonder if that will end up as DLC in the future. Hopefully not though and it will be apart of the game 🙏🏽
I expect we will get two or three DLC that will be paid additions (among them I suspect will be the addition of Quiditch). That will be followed by the Next Year (full price) addition in which several elements of the original game will be slightly revamped and still more details added. That of course will have a new, different but equally expansive quest line. All depends of course on sales. As long as they think they can make money with it, they will continue to work on it.
I absolutely LOVE the fact that there will be no multiplayer aspect to this game. In my opinion (emphesis on that my optnion) an online aspect to an RPG adds a stiffness and a sertan feeling of a static world. COOP is an other thing that might have been cool, but I am glad they did not delve into that, it is a extremely recource demanding thing to add and personaly I'd rather they focus on adding content for us to experience and make the game as endless as possible instead of adding things like a COOP mode. All in all I think they made the right call in making this a true singleplayer experience. I just want as much quality content and hours out of the game as possible as I see myself playing this game for years to come as I did and sometimes still do Skyrim. Again this is only my opinion and everyone has their own. Thanks for all the great content Retro! Hogwarts legasy and all, keep it coming :)
I was waiting for this post. I've got to add my voice to the many. The las line would seem to hint at DLC at the very least. Additional content. Maybe even a situation where our character could be the 'star' of several games like Commander Shepard in the original Mass Effect Trilogy ( a man can dream). Maybe we start as a Fifth Year because it is somehow revealed that our character is a prodigy in terms of learning and magical appitude. Sort of like the programs for gifted students at universities. Maybe the faculty feel that our character would "coast" through earlier years' courses. Could we have transferred in from another Wizarding school?
With our support? I'm going to buy the Ultimate edition as soon as the pre-orders start. A billion percent support for this game! A game made by fans for the fans? This is the best thing that is happening in the gaming industry right now!
13:00 I mean in their FAQ on their website they specifically say portkey games was specifically made for the purpose of creating wizarding world/harry potter games. If Hogwarts legacy gets enough success of course they're gonna make other games. DLC's, sequels, and hell maybe we have an MMO in store for us in the future.
Haven't checked in with your channel for a while. Months back I was saying I was really wanting the duelling to allow us to use a variety of spells and not just the standard combat ones we see in the film. I'm so happy that's the case. Being able to disarm and then use oppugno to send the enemy's weapon back at them is so cool, this game looks genuinely excellent. I'm so keen!
If they make a sequel I hope they do what mass effect did and have a way for you to carry your choices and their consequences over to the next game. So for example if you have certain friends maybe they show up in the sequel or maybe if one them died in Hogwarts Legacy maybe your character and other friends talk about the one that died. That is if our companions can die in the game. This sounds dark but I actually hope characters can die if you make the wrong decision it gives added weight to your choices and raises the stakes with the story going forward.
I don't know if somebody already caught this or not, but at 10:51 on the official trailer on PlayStation's channel, right at the part that they are talking about exploring common rooms, I could be wrong, but it looks like it could be the Slytherin Common Room, and the character they are using is clearly a Gryffindor. All the other students are Slytherins and there is Slytherin decor in the background.
Regarding the arrival of the main character to Hogwarts, did you notice that in the scene with Prof. Fig where you can see Gringotts or something the character is in a Hogwarts uniform but unsorted?
I do think the sorting is like you choose stats and then you get to go into the house that is typical for that "stat" so yes houses would be based on the choice of players /not random but it would also bring the consequences with it.
I’m so glad you read the whole blog post because it would have been too long and I would have missed them talking about the variety of difficulty levels I suck at video games and there were some bosses in Mass Effect I had to have my husband do because I couldn’t beat them even in story mode anyhow this gives me faith that I will be able to enjoy the game and the world even if I have zero combat skills without the ability to pause and aim like in Mass Effect
finished marathoning the harry potter series last week, and then days later they did the showcase. the timing couldn't be more perfect, i cannot wait for this game. I dont get hyped from AAA games anymore, but THIS, THIS is something to be hyped about.
Had to start rewatching then today, the hype is far too strong since they revealed the state of play. The nostalgia hit me like a tidal wave when I rewatched the movie. Its the first movie I ever saw in cinema
I really hope they don't make the character customization too rooted in gameplay. I don't want to be forced to wear a helmet that looks ugly but I need "Armor" *shudders*. Or if they do, take the one good feature Ubisoft has added to AC games and let us make whatever clothes looks what whatever we want. If they wanted to make different wands have different effects on spells that'd be fine though. Like a wand that does 10% more damage with Incedio or something. Would probably be best as wand "perks" and they should be obtained through pain staking classes and exams. Wanna feel like I actually learned and mastered these spells throughout the story which I think they understand that too. Progression is key, even in single player games.
I could see them making quidditch online multiplayer a thing, but I don't think anything else would work well as online multiplayer. I really like that the game is single-player, but I also think that multiplayer quidditch could still be a great thing while also preserving the game's "single-player integrity." They could make it play like FIFA or make you play from the perspective of just one player with multiple teammates and I think that would be really cool. The way I see it is that they haven't confirmed quidditch's inclusion in the game yet, they can continue to market the game as a single-player RPG, similar to how Ghost of Tsushima did, then like Ghost dropped their online multiplayer out of the blue not too long after the launch, they could do the same for a quidditch DLC. Free or paid, its inclusion would be really fun regardless and I hope they have realized that in certain cases, online multiplayer does have a place in single-player RPGs. I don't think anyone would've been complaining if Witcher 3 had an online Gwent mechanic, and it would enhance the game if anything.
Just a little observation I've just made: In the german version of the recent State of Play event it does say WINTER 2022 not Holiday (Ferien). Well... Winter starts on Dec 21st:/

I can't wait for this game! From all the gameplay features and customisation options, to the world design that feels rooted in the places we love, while also reimagining and rediscovering the history of this world. Can't wait to play this again and again and again!
By "Even more in the future" might explain why it starts you out as a 5th year. Maybe they are planning on making it a trilogy? That way hopefully it doesn't "overstay it's welcome" and still has room for innovation. I am very excited for this game!
How cool would a sequel be where instead of going before Harry's time, it was game all the way AFTER the cursed child. 2023, in their world, so maybe a late-2023-release?
I think likely sequels would be 6th and 7th years at Hogwarts, this would make the most sense and I think would be the best idea for continuing your Hogwarts Legacy story. Which would also allow for a Mass Effect style of carrying your characters choices through into the next year/game. A potentially a game after that could be what career you character choices to be e.g. Auror, teacher, ministry worker, explorer, curse breaker etc....
Thinking the same thing, that would be awesome. Imagine being able to carry your characters choices through into the next year and the year after that. It really would feel like your story.
Definitely glad it’s not multiple player. IMO there should be a separate mmo game similar to FF14 but set at Hogwarts. But keep Hogwarts legacy a single player rpg.
I want details on the wand, I get that the wand chooses the wizard but will there be a standard one for all players or will we go to olivanders or maybe customise our own, same with the brooms
"With your continued support ..." That means that they'll reveal more information later this year. That's all. Also huge, because that means that they'll ramp up the marketing campaign, so they are sure that the game will release in 2022 or early 2023.

The fact that they’re starting off slow, putting in the work and commitment needed, really striving to create the world we as fans have been CRAVING….. I think the only "multiplayer" gameplay that would suits the game best is something like Elden Ring, or Fable's co-op-like. Very minimal, but you still can go explore with a friend and have fun, duels and everything. Something they could add through DLC or future updates!
"With your continued support" Could also mean micro-transactions. The room of requirement gave away the timer system, so there might be transactions to speed up the process, similar to a mobile game.
I'm thinking sequel. It just doesn't seem like a dlc would be enough for another full adventure, unless it's an insanely huge dlc. If there's any dlc I'm hoping for is Quidditch, if it's not in the game already
Though it’s saying open world RPG, I think there will be a multiplayer aspect. Even if it is on a separate screen. Kind of like The Last of Us (Part 1) did. The main focus is online gameplay, however, they did have a multiplayer section. Especially since they said they confirmed dungeons and loot.. just my thoughts and hopes.

I am EVEN MORE excited than I was and I was pretty excited before but you know the thing that has shocked me most? - which is saying a lot as we have seen quite a few surprises - the fact the game is coming to NINTENDO SWITCH! So uh Rookwood sounded familer to me and I found out why because it's the name that Percy shouts and gose after Fred's death. So looks like this dark wizard is this Augustus Rookwood's ancestor.
I have a feeling this game will easily be 40GB minimum based off of how detailed everything is. With the day and night cycle it makes me wonder if we will level up stuff automatically or if we have to sleep to get leveled up.
I REALLY REALLY HOPE, that the Game Developers Avalanche thinks about adding a Online Mode to the Hogwarts Legacy (ofcourse this Online Mode should be 100% OPTIONAL to choose if added to Hogwarts Legacy just like how if you brought Red Dead Redemption 2 you could choose to play Red Dead Online through the Game's menu) (since it was confirmed on the official Hogwarts Legacy Website FAQ and the official Hogwarts Legacy Wikipedia Page, that Hogwarts Legacy is a Single Player RPG with a Open World.) So then it would be pretty cool if that Online Mode was a MMORPG or if not at least similar to a MMORPG or other Online Games like Red Dead Online, Fallout 76, Grand Theft Auto Online etc It would also be nice if that Online Mode could be Cross Platform meaning that if person A is playing on a PS5 and person B is playing on a PC those two people would be able to play the Online Mode together, despite the two playing on completely different devices! Another feature of the Online Mode that would be nice if your Avatar could have a Moral Alignment System (I also hope a system like that will be added to Hogwarts Legacy as well) close to or at least similar to the Moral Alignment System that Dungeons & Dragons have, so that way if a person's Avatar is in Hufflepuff House, but their personality is chaotic neutral or having a Avatar where their personality is super kindhearted but their House is Slyrthein etc Having a Moral System like that would allow everyone to mold their Avatars personalites the way they want to, even if it goes against the Cannon Lore found in the Books or Films. So far that's all I got to add, I might edit this comment if I think of more to add but what do you people think? This is still WBs version of the wizarding world. The one thing that still annoys me is school uniforms. Please someone share where, in any of the books, describes a typical muggle uniform? They don't have descriptive house markings or ties!

good thoughts here, i imagine it'll be something to do with the overarching story of the narrative, maybe they were on vacation with their family and goblins attacked and they discovered their magical powers for the first time, something like that, but it'll be interesting to see what they do regardless :D

I did my research on raven claw and it was said that their house focuses more on dueling then the other classes!
I think it'll be more base on the companion's characer rather than the house. for example there was a character good with animals... so maybe she'll be using magical beast more so...
Man if this game does well, I hope they will consider making a sequel or spin off game located in one of the other schools of the wizarding world like Beauxbatons in France, Durmstrang in northern Europe or Ilvermorny in North America. Would be so cool to see one of the other magical schools from the wizarding world being as detailed like we see Hogwarts in this game. Expanding this magical universe even more.

Going from the gameplay footage to the blog post had me almost passing out LOL I'm wayyyyy too excited for this game. I'm with you on that last line...it definitely sounds like they're preparing us for either major updates to the game adding more content, future DLC, or even a sequel! My main question is are we just experiencing 5th year or do we go through 6th and 7th year as well? If not...that could be an option to expand the game further in the future!

Everything I hear about this game makes me more excited, they really have put so much thought and passion into this. They really want to get it right and have a genuine vision for creating the Hogwarts game we as fans have always wanted. So excited. My goodness imagine if Hogwarts Legacy do a Mass Effect thing with sequels, were you can import your characters choices, traits and history into the next Hogwarts game and it all filters into the next games in the series. That would be awesome. Personally I am so pleased they are focusing entirely on single player, far to many rpg's get ruined with split focus between single player and multiplayer. Dedicated single player experience is absolutely the right way to go with Hogwarts Legacy. 👍😁😎

A personality test would be a lot more interesting for sure, though I can see it purely being a choice after you’ve created your character otherwise people may be put in houses they don’t want, I’m more than happy either way though, I’m just over the moon for the game as a whole and I can’t wait to play it, never been so excited for anything aha 😁

I feel like this is a lot like Peter Jacksons lord of the rings movies. They seem to really respect the world and really want to make the game that the fans would want to play
That's a great comparison and I got that impressions too. You really get a sense these guys understand what this world is and what it means to people, so they are double committed to getting it right and being the best version of itself.
Wondering how spell-casting is going to work. They said there are “dozens of spells”, but how do you choose which you’re using? Is it a matter of button combos or will we be able to assign spells to different slots, each bound to different buttons.
I think it's gonna be three spells for gamepad button + dodge button and for keyboard the spells would be assigned to numbers and you could just switch them. I think it's gonna be like in PS2 HP games where you can have only three spells. But honestly, I dunno how this is gonna work utton wise on gamepad.
from the trailer the spell combos looks very fast paced, so probably the latter. but there could be something like a shift button doubling the number of spell you can assign to

so this might be news too some as i recognised the family name "Rookwood" as i had heard it somewhere else and i found out that "Victor Rookwood" is the ancestor of one "Augustus Rookwood" a known death eater loyal to Voldemort, which means the family could be a long line of dark witches and wizards.
Most if not all slytherings belong to a family with a long line of dark witches and wizards. Starting with slythering himself.
Yeah, with Rookwood being in and the Weasleys being confirmed, i think its safe to assume we are also getting a Black, Potter, Malfoy and Rosier at least. Maybe a Lestrange and Prewett as well. Heck, with this being 1890, Phineas Nigellus Black is most likely the Headmaster, which would be another familiar name and Armando Dippet might be referenced as well, due to his old age.

I have to imagine this is the mentioned Victor/Viktor Rookwood. Likely speaking to the goblin RanRok (spelling?). I couple this thought with the recent blog saying we survived 'something' but didn't specify what. The blog even said: 'No spoilers.'
Was there not imagery of Thestrals? I 'know' no more than any other fan but I wonder. Could we (our character) have witnessed death at a young age? Were our parents killed or are they alive?
Something makes me think we did not survive a 'killing curse' as Harry Potter did. Perhaps it means we were not directly struck with it. Could we (our character) perhaps come from a dark wizarding bloodline? One whose members could have been involved in activities that personally led to the enslavement or hurting of Ranrok? Could it be personal? Maybe Professor Fig/Figg knew our family and helped to look after us, becoming a type of surrogate father or father figure. He definitely seems our mentor on some level. Maybe our family was attacked by Ranrok and he killed our parents for personal revenge but Professor Fig fended him off and took us 'under his wing as it were. Under his tutelage.
Unrelated, but I remember reading once a long time ago that one of the characters in 'Hogwarts Legacy' was named "Helen Thistlewood". I love the name. I wonder if she would be the Herbology Professor. The charming lady who tells the class to 'please welcome the newest rose in our garden.' She just seems to have that bubbly cheerful personality, and strikes me as a bit of a nurturer.

This trailer had me speechless. I will delete all my ps5 games just for this one 😂 I was not expecting any of this at all. The only thing I expected was the basics, like spells, some exploration, and flying on brooms, but they have exceeded my expectations. The one thing I'm wondering is how the classes will work. They mentioned in the trailer twice that you can explore the castle or talk to your friends in between classes, does that mean we have a time limit to get to each class? I'm not sure how it will work but that will be cool, and getting graded for on-time or tardiness LOL. But I won't be mad if it's not there. There is so much to this game.
You should take a look at Bully by Rockstar from like 2006/2007(?) It's a massive template for this kind of thing. I don't think I'm alone in saying that as soon as I started playing that game all those years ago I was like _"Right here is how you do a Harry Potter game. It has everything, and it has potential"_ and have been waiting and wanting this for so long now.

Yep, it was definitely updated. That answer has actually been in there for a while though. I think people are still thinking it will be more than just a choice in a menu...but it absolutely could be as simple as that.
I’m actually glad the game won’t be multiplayer. Just happy that they can put all their energy into creating an amazing immersive experience/story with incredible detail
My thoughts on the last lines are possible expansions, they already have what looks like a great framework for the game after all, and personally I'd rather buy an expansion than a whole new game if we're going for the fantasy of living your hogwarts life it'd be a shame to lose anything you've worked for between games

I feel like they quickly showed a few images implying quidditch but the fact they haven’t explicitly spoken on it makes me wonder if that will end up as DLC in the future. Hopefully not though and it will be apart of the game 🙏🏽
I expect we will get two or three DLC that will be paid additions (among them I suspect will be the addition of Quiditch). That will be followed by the Next Year (full price) addition in which several elements of the original game will be slightly revamped and still more details added. That of course will have a new, different but equally expansive quest line. All depends of course on sales. As long as they think they can make money with it, they will continue to work on it.

I absolutely LOVE the fact that there will be no multiplayer aspect to this game. In my opinion (emphesis on that my optnion) an online aspect to an RPG adds a stiffness and a sertan feeling of a static world. COOP is an other thing that might have been cool, but I am glad they did not delve into that, it is a extremely recource demanding thing to add and personaly I'd rather they focus on adding content for us to experience and make the game as endless as possible instead of adding things like a COOP mode.
All in all I think they made the right call in making this a true singleplayer experience. I just want as much quality content and hours out of the game as possible as I see myself playing this game for years to come as I did and sometimes still do Skyrim.
Again this is only my opinion and everyone has their own. Thanks for all the great content Retro! Hogwarts legasy and all, keep it coming :)

Haven't not been this excited for a game in so many years lol.
I was waiting for this post. I've got to add my voice to the many. The las line would seem to hint at DLC at the very least. Additional content. Maybe even a situation where our character could be the 'star' of several games like Commander Shepard in the original Mass Effect Trilogy ( a man can dream).
Maybe we start as a Fifth Year because it is somehow revealed that our character is a prodigy in terms of learning and magical appitude. Sort of like the programs for gifted students at universities. Maybe the faculty feel that our character would "coast" through earlier years' courses. Could we have transferred in from another Wizarding school?
Setting up Mass effect style stories and sequels would be an absolute dream.
With our support? I'm going to buy the Ultimate edition as soon as the pre-orders start. A billion percent support for this game! A game made by fans for the fans? This is the best thing that is happening in the gaming industry right now!
13:00 I mean in their FAQ on their website they specifically say portkey games was specifically made for the purpose of creating wizarding world/harry potter games. If Hogwarts legacy gets enough success of course they're gonna make other games. DLC's, sequels, and hell maybe we have an MMO in store for us in the future.
Haven't checked in with your channel for a while. Months back I was saying I was really wanting the duelling to allow us to use a variety of spells and not just the standard combat ones we see in the film. I'm so happy that's the case. Being able to disarm and then use oppugno to send the enemy's weapon back at them is so cool, this game looks genuinely excellent. I'm so keen!

If they make a sequel I hope they do what mass effect did and have a way for you to carry your choices and their consequences over to the next game. So for example if you have certain friends maybe they show up in the sequel or maybe if one them died in Hogwarts Legacy maybe your character and other friends talk about the one that died. That is if our companions can die in the game. This sounds dark but I actually hope characters can die if you make the wrong decision it gives added weight to your choices and raises the stakes with the story going forward.
I don't know if somebody already caught this or not, but at 10:51 on the official trailer on PlayStation's channel, right at the part that they are talking about exploring common rooms, I could be wrong, but it looks like it could be the Slytherin Common Room, and the character they are using is clearly a Gryffindor. All the other students are Slytherins and there is Slytherin decor in the background.
Perhaps the event we surived caused us to harness this ancient magic?

Regarding the arrival of the main character to Hogwarts, did you notice that in the scene with Prof. Fig where you can see Gringotts or something the character is in a Hogwarts uniform but unsorted?
I do think the sorting is like you choose stats and then you get to go into the house that is typical for that "stat" so yes houses would be based on the choice of players /not random but it would also bring the consequences with it.
I’m so glad you read the whole blog post because it would have been too long and I would have missed them talking about the variety of difficulty levels I suck at video games and there were some bosses in Mass Effect I had to have my husband do because I couldn’t beat them even in story mode anyhow this gives me faith that I will be able to enjoy the game and the world even if I have zero combat skills without the ability to pause and aim like in Mass Effect

finished marathoning the harry potter series last week, and then days later they did the showcase. the timing couldn't be more perfect, i cannot wait for this game. I dont get hyped from AAA games anymore, but THIS, THIS is something to be hyped about.

I really hope they don't make the character customization too rooted in gameplay. I don't want to be forced to wear a helmet that looks ugly but I need "Armor" *shudders*. Or if they do, take the one good feature Ubisoft has added to AC games and let us make whatever clothes looks what whatever we want. If they wanted to make different wands have different effects on spells that'd be fine though. Like a wand that does 10% more damage with Incedio or something. Would probably be best as wand "perks" and they should be obtained through pain staking classes and exams. Wanna feel like I actually learned and mastered these spells throughout the story which I think they understand that too. Progression is key, even in single player games.
I could see them making quidditch online multiplayer a thing, but I don't think anything else would work well as online multiplayer. I really like that the game is single-player, but I also think that multiplayer quidditch could still be a great thing while also preserving the game's "single-player integrity." They could make it play like FIFA or make you play from the perspective of just one player with multiple teammates and I think that would be really cool. The way I see it is that they haven't confirmed quidditch's inclusion in the game yet, they can continue to market the game as a single-player RPG, similar to how Ghost of Tsushima did, then like Ghost dropped their online multiplayer out of the blue not too long after the launch, they could do the same for a quidditch DLC. Free or paid, its inclusion would be really fun regardless and I hope they have realized that in certain cases, online multiplayer does have a place in single-player RPGs. I don't think anyone would've been complaining if Witcher 3 had an online Gwent mechanic, and it would enhance the game if anything.
the goblin rebellion was only mention in passing in books I think... like history shiz so this game can be canon real quick.
I’m pretty sure if this game does well above expectations, an online mode will be added whether it be quidditch, or like a raid boss or horde mode.
Just a little observation I've just made:
In the german version of the recent State of Play event it does say WINTER 2022 not Holiday (Ferien). Well... Winter starts on Dec 21st:/

I can't wait for this game! From all the gameplay features and customisation options, to the world design that feels rooted in the places we love, while also reimagining and rediscovering the history of this world. Can't wait to play this again and again and again!
By "Even more in the future" might explain why it starts you out as a 5th year. Maybe they are planning on making it a trilogy? That way hopefully it doesn't "overstay it's welcome" and still has room for innovation. I am very excited for this game!

I would expect it to be a continuation of the character we create in this game, potentially Mass Effect style.
I think likely sequels would be 6th and 7th years at Hogwarts, this would make the most sense and I think would be the best idea for continuing your Hogwarts Legacy story. Which would also allow for a Mass Effect style of carrying your characters choices through into the next year/game. A potentially a game after that could be what career you character choices to be e.g. Auror, teacher, ministry worker, explorer, curse breaker etc....

I think the only "multiplayer" gameplay that would suits the game best is something like Elden Ring, or Fable's co-op-like. Very minimal, but you still can go explore with a friend and have fun, duels and everything. Something they could add through DLC or future updates!
The only way I could see multiplayer being implemented is via quidditch
"With your continued support" Could also mean micro-transactions. The room of requirement gave away the timer system, so there might be transactions to speed up the process, similar to a mobile game.

Though it’s saying open world RPG, I think there will be a multiplayer aspect. Even if it is on a separate screen. Kind of like The Last of Us (Part 1) did. The main focus is online gameplay, however, they did have a multiplayer section. Especially since they said they confirmed dungeons and loot.. just my thoughts and hopes.

So uh Rookwood sounded familer to me and I found out why because it's the name that Percy shouts and gose after Fred's death. So looks like this dark wizard is this Augustus Rookwood's ancestor.
A squeal to this game would be nice, and DLC would be amazing as well.

With the day and night cycle it makes me wonder if we will level up stuff automatically or if we have to sleep to get leveled up.

I REALLY REALLY HOPE, that the Game Developers Avalanche thinks about adding a Online Mode to the Hogwarts Legacy (ofcourse this Online Mode should be 100% OPTIONAL to choose if added to Hogwarts Legacy just like how if you brought Red Dead Redemption 2 you could choose to play Red Dead Online through the Game's menu) (since it was confirmed on the official Hogwarts Legacy Website FAQ and the official Hogwarts Legacy Wikipedia Page, that Hogwarts Legacy is a Single Player RPG with a Open World.) So then it would be pretty cool if that Online Mode was a MMORPG or if not at least similar to a MMORPG or other Online Games like Red Dead Online, Fallout 76, Grand Theft Auto Online etc
It would also be nice if that Online Mode could be Cross Platform meaning that if person A is playing on a PS5 and person B is playing on a PC those two people would be able to play the Online Mode together, despite the two playing on completely different devices!
Another feature of the Online Mode that would be nice if your Avatar could have a Moral Alignment System (I also hope a system like that will be added to Hogwarts Legacy as well) close to or at least similar to the Moral Alignment System that Dungeons & Dragons have, so that way if a person's Avatar is in Hufflepuff House, but their personality is chaotic neutral or having a Avatar where their personality is super kindhearted but their House is Slyrthein etc Having a Moral System like that would allow everyone to mold their Avatars personalites the way they want to, even if it goes against the Cannon Lore found in the Books or Films.
So far that's all I got to add, I might edit this comment if I think of more to add but what do you people think?

Honestly height customisation is awesome
This is still WBs version of the wizarding world. The one thing that still annoys me is school uniforms. Please someone share where, in any of the books, describes a typical muggle uniform? They don't have descriptive house markings or ties!
