In another episode of Meet the Classic Bike we are joined by my good friend David and his fabulous 1970 Suzuki T500. We, as usual, have a chat with David and then take her out for a spin.
This was the first bike I bought after getting my license in 78. I loved it. Not too sure about the silencers on that one, but it brings back good memories.
I had a blue T500M, and many years later a GT500, which had electronic ignition. Both had a couple of BHP less than the early models but I do hope that this gent, or perhaps the previous owner has done the extra 200cc of gearbox oil mod, to save premature gear wear.
this was a hot bike in year one. then the triples came on market, and t500 was de-fanged for the elderly, like me. still a good practical ride, rideable today although you might want a disc brake.
What a beauty that was and I just luved the sound of those expansions awesome ,correct me if I am wrong here but David was moving onto a 550 triple ! from what I recall they had chromed barrels and could not be rebored . If that is correct how would you get around it should you have to are these parts readily available I wonder .Thanks good to see : )
Sweet Bike & Fancy camera with lots of Far Away shots Sadly ... 1st time as a Debbie doWNer & an armchair QBack. But we watch because most of us bike ♡'ers see all bikes as Eye CaNDy ... That's impossible without a Walk around and a stationary cam 10~15ft away. In comparison would be like if you were wanting to buy a bike off only pictures VRS Physically walking around checking everything out 1st then getting on B4 you take it for a spin ...🤔Hmm? Well that seems 2b a no brainer! Again Sorry, but just try n 2Help while obviously venting at the same time✌☻ut!
Great bike 👍back then they made great looking bikes and in striking colours too.

Excellent bikes, although I’m slightly biased as I bought mine in 1974, and still have it now. 👍👍

👍👍
The color is amazing
Thank you
I had thé same and thé same color in 1972
That is a gorgeous bike. Personal preference, I would have kept the pipes original although it sounds sweet.
It is probably very hard to find nice original ones I think.
Or at least stick period expansions on like allspeeds, micron.j&r or le.
A,beautiful and very nice, bike 🏍
Very nice flick! Loved it! Keep up the good work!
Thanks. I will try
Great video bud, keep the smokers coming👍
If you have the original pipes leave them in the shed...those spannies are gorgeous!! 👍

Want it !!!
David did have it up for sale for a while but has now decided to keep it. Good decision I say
Nice one Stephen, Libby said thanks for the credit 🤣
I thought she would like that.
I know someone who put over 100,000 miles on one of these.
Looks/sounds sweet. I have a 71 T500 with Higgspeed pipes.
Yes it does. If I had more garage space I would have it. I really enjoyed riding a 2stroke again. Stay tuned for more classic bikes.
Fabulous...got one in my garage in bits.....what do you reckon a reckon to this standard will cost me...???
Phew. how long is a piece of string. A couple of grand maybe

It felt like a 250 on steroids. Disc brake would be a great improvement
I had a 76 GT500 the entire piston skirt shattered end of the bike for me

I am not sure although I think they are reborable. Hope you enjoyed the video.
Odd thing. Of all the bikes I’ve owned it’s my 74 T500L I miss the most.
Christ above I need one of these in my life. Some people want a Ferrari or a Jag. I want a T500 as my weekend bike. Is that too much to ask.
Of course not
CC??
It is 500 cc
