One of the reasons i adore Groudon and Kyogre so much is that instead of being some creation of man's desires or some god, Groudon and Kyogre feel like nature itself felt wrath. They're not benevolent gods, they're monstrous titans who only seek to slaughter their opponent. They aren't pokemon. They're MONSTERS.

I love the duality of this line. Kygores's saying it as "There is nothing you can do to stop me; you will fall." while Groudon's has it more as "I will continue to rage against you as long as I live."
I know I was late to the party but you guys nailed it with this one. Probably one of the best covers you've ever done!
I like how each legends voice is portrayed. Groudon is loud and harsh like a blazing sun, intimidating but bright and evident. While kyogre has a much more calm yet mortifying voice, almost like a nightmare where you are trapped underwater, the voice being everywhere around you.
I have been trying to put this into words for the last hour. You have hit the nail right on the head.
Kyogre sounds calm but has a sinister undertone. Like how the ocean looks serene but has hidden dangers inside.

I just like to imagine that while Groudons spitting lyrical fire at Kyogre he’s still standing on that small speck of land like he did in Emerald.

Cannonically, groudon is fine. It'll just evaporate the shit out of water and just stand there, as Kyogre is getting sucked in. Menacingly
Kyogre has a deeper water for it and groudon has land above water so the base water that surrounded the land could be an equal gain and loss for both

I like how Groudon’s angry personality clashes with the typically calm Maxie, and Kyogre’s liquid-smooth vocals contrast Archie’s aggressive hot-headedness

I think that Groudon and Kyogre are the only Legendary pair that have a mutual/absolute hate for the other and I think that this song really gets that across.
Giving it a thought, you’re not wrong.
Ho-oh and Lugia are counterparts in idea, seas and skies, but in practice there’s no ‘rivalry’ between the two.
Dialga and Palkia have clashed, but it’s always been because of some kind of outside factor that causes the conflict like Arceus’ awakening in the movies.
Reshiram and Zekrom are the closest to that rivalry, due to their opposing philosophies. But even they can put their differences aside to help one another should the need arise, and they were once a single being.
Xerneus and Yveltal had one time in the anime that they’ve been in the same room but otherwise have nothing else.
Solgaleo and Lunala are the ‘male’ and ‘female’ of the same species.
And Zacian and Zamezenta are basically siblings who’s entire lore is about them working together.
Fact is, there’s no other legendary duo that hold animosity towards one another on a scale even close to Groudon and Kyogres, no questions asked when it comes to those two, it’s on sight.
They should make another rivalry/hatred legendaries, not just copy of paste of Kyogre and Groudon but something similar

I adore the sort of "evil queen" vibes Kyogre gives off in this. It would have been easy to just give Kyogre a soothing voice and depict them as the good guy, but you did a good job making them both sinister conquerors, and Kyogre still has a smooth voice to contrast the harsh voice of Groudon without detracting from their imposing presence.
I have been looking through the comments for the past 5 hours trying to see if anyone noticed the almost regal undertone from kyogre.
Good to know I wasn’t the only one.
Neither of them seems to care about the consequences if either of them wins, your either roasted by sun/volcanoes or drown in an endless flood.

The Hoenn trio are my favorite because compared to the rest, they feel so, *viceral.* Most other legendaries tend to be vague or abstract concepts. Time and space, truth and ideals, ect. But the weather trio represent the unpredictable, untameable nature of the very planet we live on, something every human has undeniably experienced first hand. The Beginning and the End. Water and Fire. *Alpha and Omega...*

holy SHIT when i say i got chills from this i MEAN IT. the INSTANT groudon started singing i instantly got goosebumps and shivers. alex is of course a natural fit for an ancient wrathful primordial land diety, no shock on that casting, and the way he’s able to deliver that POWER behind the voice while still having it be singing and work with the music, and the added vocal effects feel like auditory flames.
and THEN emmy with kyogre comes and it’s just the same level of WOW. this was a casting choice that, when i read the description before watching felt so out of nowhere and a complete curveball, giving kyogre a more feminine voice wouldnt have been what i imagined, but HOOOOLY shit as soon as kyogre started singing i UNDERSTOOD. there’s still a ton of power being the voice but it contrasts SO well with the searing fire begun groudon’s voice, providing that primally smooth but dangerous ocean sound. it’s such an unexpected casting choice but provides SO much levity to the harshness of groudon
and then putting them TOGETHER? god, i had chills through this entire thing, the lyrics OOZING that primordial rage and raw, undistilled POWER, the very land and sea speaking, a personification of the utterly immovable forces of nature, with absolutely STUNNING vocals to go with it. but when you put the harsh and the cool TOGETHER? like i said, i had goosebumps for the entire song but my breath was taken away from me during this section, i cannot overstate the genuine physical effect the vocals had on me, and this was absolutely the intended effect and it SUCCEEDED. absolutely ASTOUNDING at capturing two literal gods fighting for control
i’ve enjoyed these pokemon musical bytes so far, yes, but this one absolutely blew everything else so far out of the park. it’s been SO long since a song has given me genuine chills, i’m blown away by the work here. keep it up, i CANNOT wait to see what comes next
I couldn't put it better myself! You've got all of that bang on the money and I agree with everything. Although I might need to listen to it more than once for it to grow on me, as Mewtwo and HoOh had me hooked instantly, this song is still amazing and vs. Giratina has a lot to live up to!

Jokes aside I LOVE this definitely my favorite of the bytes so far. It fits their lore and goals so much! Groudon is sheer rage, conquering the land. He wants the world to rise into the sky. Kyogre is calm, collected, confident. Only wants to expand and make all of earth her home, for the world to expand.

Really like how Groudons lyrics and voice are chaotic, like how earthquakes can be.
Yet kyogres lyrics and voice are kinda calm, like the ocean sometimes

I wouldn’t say that groudon’s parts were chaotic, they seem more so to be harsh and jagged as if he was moving on pure wrath. The idea of “land being unbreakable and unwavering” was in the forefront of my mind while listening to this as rock is known for being durable and volcanoes are often mistaken for wrathful gods in many mythologies.
As for kyogre, those parts didn’t really sound calm, but more so they sounded like they were perfectly harmonized and exuding a sense of arrogance. Getting the idea of “your strength will inevitably Falter ” across with a slight sense of horror behind it and that really fits the ocean as it slowly rips apart the land creating canyons and the terrifying things that hide in its deepest depths.

He would arguably need his own whole song as he is the apex legendary of the region. And his involvement would literally do nothing but hinder Kyogre and Groudon's performance: There is so much power in the voices on display here - that to have Rayquaza come in at the end and go "Yeah, but I am top bitch in this kingdom. So shut up!" would just insult the previous two performances.

Ratquaza is there to maintain balance (there is a reason he is the leader of this Trio) Ratquaza doesn't want to expand the sky, he wants life to thrive. which couldn't happen if Kyogre or Groudon "Won"

Add in how neither land nor sea is superior and should be balanced due to the natural order and that there are living beings who depend on both land and sea for survival, only punishing those who abuse them for selfishness and greed?
Kyogre's voice suits fits her so well. I like how it feels a little metallic, giving her mysterious and evil vibes.

I love how they are almost unable to fight in each other's weather (except for groudon being ground type). That means that it's a battle to see who can impose their own weather and win. Accurate lore-wise

All the other legendary duos work together, are incomplete without the other and represent two sides of a coin or two integral elements of the world that don't work without the other, meanwhile Groudon and Kyogre are an ancient blood feud hellbent on destroying each other... and this theme catches it PERFECTLY.

Scariest thing about these two is there is no true "victor" of this fight for anyone else. The world will end regardless of the winner, either deriving the world of water and having it become a desolate land, or submerging all civilizations underwater. I suppose Kyogre is slightly less catastrophic since oceanic life can persist, but either way it's a lose/lose for pretty much everyone else.
I think Pokémon Generations implied that not even Water-Type Pokémon would be able to survive Kyogre’s rampage.

The sheer power of groudon and kyorge can be heard through the voices. Groudon’s anger and kyorge’s desire for expansion is so clear that I can’t help but be in pure awe. Groundon and kyorge have been my 2nd favorite legendary duo and I am so happy this has been done justice.
One thing that I relate it to is ares and Athena,with ares(groundon)being a lot more about pure power anger and force,while kyorgeres(Athena) lyrics and voice make it seem like they’ve planned an attack for a long time and have this planned out,overall,amazing song.
@@penguinoverlord9994 Yeah, I don't think you can associate Kyogre with Athena, since he is just as agressive and savage as Groudon. Those two aren't gods like some other legendary ; they are primordial titans, the incarnation of the the immense power of their respective elements and the destruction that come when nature is unleashed in all of her fury.

@@TheColor_Blue I know but Rayquaza is different from them, he is not trying to take all pf the world for himself and is the one who has to stop these two from destroying everything when he is not busy fighting an alien virus (his job is really hard now that I think about it).
While he is just as powerful as them, he is also a lot more reasonable and that make him different from those two walking/swiming biblical apocalypse.
@@bosskaiju4834 Actually, the Titan analogy works well if you further extrapolate that Rayquaza is a Giant. In Greek Mythology, while the gods were recognized as powerful [so much so that you couldn't look at their true forms without burning up], the Titans were even stronger. Their true form was so powerful, you couldn't even BE NEAR THEM without disintegrating.
However, the Titans were only so imposing, as any individual could conquer and kill them if they were powerful or lucky enough... The Giants, on the other hand, EXPLICITLY required the cooperation of both gods and demigods to defeat [Except for the _one_ Giant who was just plain old mortal.], and it wasn't easy because each Giant was crafted SPECIFICALLY to counter each Greek god and goddess.
Rayquaza could be seen as the Giant to topple Arceus, the Zeus of the Legendaries, while Groudon could be seen as a sleeping Gaia, and Kyogre is Ouranos.
While listening to this song, I realized that Rayquaza's Ability, which clears the battlefield of weather effects, most likely was used by Rayquaza when facing Groudon and Kyogre, cancelling out both of their buffs that their weathers give them, and giving Rayquaza the advantage, even against the Primal forms of the two
I love how Groudon sounds so aggressive and imposing and Kyogre so mysterious and foreboding, it really tells you how Kyogre really isn't that concerned, with Groudon having severe type disadvantages.
Hoenn legendaries. They're not Gods, but they sure carved the most memorable and historic moments in all of Pokemon history, for casual fans and competitive players.
Well, one of them created the earth and the other the oceans. And they’re insanely powerful. I’d say they are gods to an extent
Many Legendary Pokémon are practically God-Tier.

Don't forget those who only care for lore. The lore of these two primordial powers being meant to oppose each other is just an amazing concept and I love how this works!

I like how Groudon is more aggressive and direct, while Kyogre is silent and mysterious, like the deep sea.
The weirdest thing about this series so far is that it's making me realise I have been subconsciously voicing all these pokémon in my head for years now, so whenever I hear someone else's take I'm immediately taken aback by the differences. However, once I'm over that initial hump, it is stunning to see the love these games have inspired, and the talent that has been put into these videos.
My first pokémon game was Platinum though, so I'm very anxious/excited to see what you do next in this series. :D

I like how Groudon is a lot more aggressive while Kroger is a lot calmer, with Groudon speaking about twice as fast as Kyogre when they have their duet segments

Hearing their solo parts they sound like an aggressive volcanic conquer and a calm sea queen. But together they sound like children fighting, would not be surprised if Rayquaza sounds like a father getting his kids to stop arguing
Groudon's voice is just so fire, so fast and rough, and Kyogre's is slow and flowing, so they both fit these Pokémon perfectly. I think I prefer Groudon's voice to Kyogre's, but they are both awesome.
It makes sense that it is fire because it is fire/ground type in its primal form.
gotta be honest, going into this and seeing alex as groudon, i was worried the casting was too powerful; how could anyone match the fury of groudon if the big man himself was the one belting out primordial screams? well, i got my answer; the resounding echoes of kyogre's voice sound almost hypnotic in how chilling they are! it conveys a sense of just barely breaking the surface of a power so vast that none truly know the depths to which it might reach. a perfect foil for the broiling, boiling, bubbling rage of groudon's more focused verbal assault.
"Rayquaza, Groundon and Kyogre are going to destroy Hoenn! Please, you need to stop them!"

Kyogre honestly sounds like he'd be much more scarier to deal with, specially with the "gasping for air" line.
Which makes sense as canonically people are the smalls of Groudons domain. So a person being unable to handle the leader of the other opposing domain makes sense.
Kinda like 2 mafias going after each other, a grunt has no power against an angry don.
Groudon would be pretty scary to deal with as well. If the earthquakes and lava didn’t kill you, you’d be slowly baked to death in a heat wave that would make the Permian-Triassic mass extinction look like picnic weather!

In all seriousness, this is fantastic. Both voices are extremely fitting, Groudon’s agressive and full of fury, really reminds me of Alex’s Ridley voice. I expect Groudon’s voice to be low and booming but this is loud and intense like a raging fire. Kyogre on the other hand is much more calmer like water but still has power behind it. Honestly Kyorge’s lines gave me chills.
Literally better than any rap battle I've ever heard between these two. Groudon sounds absolutely harsh and crazy while Kyogre holds an air of mystical chaos.
In all honesty, Kyogre sounds like a whale in some parts of the song, especially with the echoing effects of the voices.

I see this line is having two meanings;
Kyogre's means the land with crash and crumble to the sea.
Groudon's means the land will stand tall against the crashing sea.
Groudon is just a guy with extreme anger issues. Kyogre, on the other hand, sounds noticeably scarier, like a bloodthirsty psycho.
This was a phenomenal cover. Hearing the duet between the avatars of land and sea with their radically different voices/tones helped to push this song even further. Excellent work MOTI.
Absolutely incredible cover. Hearing the contrast between Kyorge and Groudon left chills down my spine. While Kyorge's singing is softer compared to Groudon's anger there's still that warning Kyorge is issuing to Groudon by threatening to drown the land. Emily and Alex nailed it with their performances as Kyorge and Groudon respectively. Incredible job to everyone at the Man on the Internet!

I just adore how, even though they seem like opposites, their lyrics and even the way they sync with each other reflects on how while their goals seem different, the results would be practically identical.
Both think they're superior and in the right, when they're both actually capable of murdering everything.
(If you are listening with headphones) when you get to the part where Groudon and Kyorge both sing “Crash and Burn against the waves! For this world is my domain!” you can hear that each voice is dominant on one side but the other isn’t as loud on the other. I really like this. Groudon’s and Kyorge’s was “legendary” enough that it warranted huge constant clashing between the two. I feel that mostly in that part of the song. Way to go MOTI for another amazing song!!
The parts when Groudon and Kyogre sing together sound so GODLY! Also If legendary bites arrives at gen 8, i can't wait how the Galarian Legendary birds will sound like.

I liked the lyric you did in the along. It perfectly represents how Groupon and Kyogre truly seen themselves as. They believe it’s their purpose to expand the land or sea and will take out the opposite no matter the cost. Their conflict is legendary and what helps set up future legendary conflicts or relationship with duo or trios for every generation. This one has got to be one of my favorite Legendary Pokémon songs on this channel. Good job to the team and the two signers.

I appreciate that neither is projected as the good guy, because that's exactly what they aren't. Neither Groudon nor Kyogre are "good guys", they're just power-hungry beasts. That's why Rayquaza stepped in in the first place.

I love this song so much. The chanting and rich voice of Groupon versus the cool yet menacing tone of Kyorge works so well here.

I love the visual, and the song depicting how different Groudon and Kyogre are, Groudon being chaotic and Kyogre being serene, this song is a masterpiece.
It also shows how similar they are, being arrogant, confrontational, and incredibly dangerous. They also share a lot of their lyrics.
I have both Omega and Alpha. Each time I meet these two in their turf, it gives me chills. If I couldn't put up in that moment, the world would die. I HAD to catch them.

This is definitely the best Legendary Byte of them all. The way the entire song, not just through the lyrics but also through tempo and pitch, manages to perfectly encapsulate Groudon's and Kyogre's personalities and their detest for one another is absolutely incredible.
This is such a great song, I like Groudon having an intimidating, rough burning voice like a warlord, a merciless king while Kyogre has the voice of the calm and mischievous, calculating, malevolent queen.
No one is the good guy and both are essentially extremely territorial, selfish gods way worse than any demon.
I should point out that while Team Magma's ecoterrorism at least kind of makes sense, there's no shortage of water, and waters rising are already happening on earth, and we know that's bad for everything on earth. Acidified oceans and rising global temperatures are bad for sea creatures too.

desolate land turns that 4x weakness to an immunity, leaving his only weakness being a 2x weakness to ground. i wish that the primal reversions worked like rayquaza's mega so groudon could hold a light balloon and have his primal ability leaving him with no weakness and three immunities. unfortunately primal reversion requires them to hold a red/blue orb

Gen 3's still my favorite, all versions. Though I like Kyogre slightly more, there's little more satisfying that using Solarbeam after someone points out the type advantage.
