Kris Kristofferson one of greatest songwriters ever. Sadly we don't see many anymore and even more sadly is that most kids ,miliniels don't even know of this great writer or his songs! What they miss and all of those like Kris that they will miss what a loss for them.
I have listened to him him for almost 50years and I have been across this country in a semi and he was in my mind and I have gotten old enough to say that it doesn't get any better than this
I’m on the couch on pain meds after hip surgery. I had a beer on Sunday when I heard the news. Wasn’t supposed to. RIP and thank you sir for the memories.
Hallo Roswitha! TOP!!!!
This is such a throwback song to the days when everything was closed on Sunday and people were home or at church. It's also probably the saddest song there is because it doesn't pertain to a lost love, but just "being lost". And NO ONE does it sadder than Kris.
What a great, great song. I first heard by Johnny Cash many years ago and it saved me, every time am feeling low play this among other great Country songs. Thank you Kris, you are a brilliant writer and can relate to you and your mental state, we all belong to the same group.... please keep on writing.
“There’s somethin in a Sunday that makes a body feel alone”..... how very very true. 17 years in Recovery and I still struggle on a Sunday. Thank you so much Kris for writing this sensational heartbreaking song. You are a lyrical genius because you have lived every lyric xxx❤️❤️❤️
I love the lyrics dear Kris wrote for this song. It's so easy to visualize what he is sharing from his heart. For some reason, I've had a place in my heart for him for decades. So glad you're back from your challenges and sharing your talent...
I only have ever had 2 hero's in my life and one was my dad who passed away when i was 19 and the other is kris Kristofferson i have been listening to him since i was 13 and now 41 and i will never stop. He really is a true hero of mine god bless him
I got to meet Kris in Las Vegas in the 90's at a little Bar called Calamity Janes and he was as nice a Man you could evva want to meet, been listening to him since the late 60's when I were just a Pup!!!
Takes me back, to when life was much more simpler, takes me to a good place listening to his lyrics, I Love Kris!! Great memories being relived Gotta keep playing it over n Over Can't stop listening to it Makes me think of my Momma frying chicken on a Sunday n my Daddy pushing me in a swing.. They're both gone now, but thanks to Kris I can easily relive those Happy memories
When you do this every weekend, you got an issue.A lot of alcoholics dont think they have a problem. When tuesday morning is coming down..followed by friday morning.Reach out for help.No body is immune to it.I love the song...gr8 writing.

The greatest song writer of all Times; reflects the feelings generations, that's why so many people have taking the credit for it when we all know it why so many other people have been singing his songs thank you
Lyrics: Well, I woke up Sunday morning With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad So I had one more for dessert Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes And found my cleanest dirty shirt An' I washed my face, combed my hair An' stumbled down the stairs to meet the day I'd smoked my brain the night before On cigarettes and songs that I'd been pickin' But I lit my first and watched a small kid Cussin' at a can that he was kicking Then I crossed the empty street An' caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken And it took me back to somethin' That I'd lost somehow, somewhere along the way On the Sunday morning sidewalk Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned 'Cause there's something in a Sunday Makes a body feel alone There ain't nothin' short of dyin' Half as lonesome as the sound On the sleepin' city sidewalks Sunday mornin' comin' down In the park I saw a daddy With a laughin' little girl who he was swingin' And I stopped beside a Sunday school Listened to the song they were singin' Then I headed back for home And somewhere far away a lonesome bell was ringin' And it echoed through the canyons Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday On the Sunday morning sidewalk Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned 'Cause there's something in a Sunday Makes a body feel alone There ain't nothin' short of dyin' Half as lonesome as the sound On the sleepin' city sidewalks Sunday mornin' comin' down On the Sunday morning sidewalk Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned 'Cause there's something in a Sunday Makes your body feel alone There ain't nothin' short of dyin' Half as lonesome as the sound On the sleepin' city sidewalks Sunday mornin' comin' down
John's version is of course great, but Kris's just seems so much more autobiographical. (he can tell you where he wrote it and why!) Kris is proof positive that you don't need a great voice to be a great singer. ( Yeah I'm talking to you American Idol) I saw him live a few years ago and he was just magnetic.....and so humble.
Talento puro! Música perfeita que toca a alma das pessoas. K.K. é um iluminado; seus 83 anos só trouxeram Paz e é bom vê-lo ainda em boa forma no Palco da vida!
Kris . . . an American original in more ways than one. They broke mold when he was born.

Good lord. This is some of most beautifully written lyrics I’ve ever heard. This song is perfection in my book. Cannot hear it without choking up.
This song speaks to the essence of self-separation so cleanly, and with no way back cries for a rescue. The ache is exquisite.

Lyrics:
Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for dessert
Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
An' I washed my face, combed my hair
An' stumbled down the stairs to meet the day
I'd smoked my brain the night before
On cigarettes and songs that I'd been pickin'
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Cussin' at a can that he was kicking
Then I crossed the empty street
An' caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken
And it took me back to somethin'
That I'd lost somehow, somewhere along the way
On the Sunday morning sidewalk
Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
Makes a body feel alone
There ain't nothin' short of dyin'
Half as lonesome as the sound
On the sleepin' city sidewalks
Sunday mornin' comin' down
In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughin' little girl who he was swingin'
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
Listened to the song they were singin'
Then I headed back for home
And somewhere far away a lonesome bell was ringin'
And it echoed through the canyons
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday
On the Sunday morning sidewalk
Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
Makes a body feel alone
There ain't nothin' short of dyin'
Half as lonesome as the sound
On the sleepin' city sidewalks
Sunday mornin' comin' down
On the Sunday morning sidewalk
Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
Makes your body feel alone
There ain't nothin' short of dyin'
Half as lonesome as the sound
On the sleepin' city sidewalks
Sunday mornin' comin' down
It is a beautiful and symbolic song between Kris and Johnny Cash.

Been there, done that. 72 now, still remembering.
