Harringtons made out of polyester for waterproofing is a must in the British Isles though. As much as we can just say: get an umbrella to shield yourself from the rain, the wind there is just too strong for any umbrella to keep you dry and therefore, it is better to just have good waterproofed jacket. Of course, that does not justify the high price point, but when it comes to outerwear, since it won't be touching my skin, I think some polyester is good if it is meant to help with waterproofing. Nobody wants to be walking around in a drenched cotton or wool cardigan after all.
I loved Massimo Dutti a couple years ago because im short and quite muscular but their tops always fit me and looked really nice. But the last three orders I sent back everything because the sizing is much different now. Also when scrolling through you really have to keep an eye on the fabric because they mix in polyester alot nowadays
My dream harrington is the one made by Private White V.C. Certainly pricey ($700+; though some colors do see a significant discount through the year), but made in Manchester with 100% ventile cotton, which is waterproof, RiRi zips, and really lovely, copper hardware. Oh, and they have free lifetime repairs. I have one Private White V.C. jacket and I think it's extraordinary. For me, a harrington is classic and versatile, so in my opinion it's a good item on which to spend more - you'll probably have it for a lifetime. Otherwise I would probably opt for an umbrella. Or, for that matter, I would just shop second-hand. As for Barbour, I've never been terribly impressed by them, though I do respect the heritage of the brand, and of the waxed cotton. That said, though, I think that heritage is exactly what they've been cruising on. But waxed cotton can get hot/clammy, let alone the polyester lining. And if I'm going to buy something that's supposed to echo King Charles hunting in the country side, it better be made in the UK. I'm glad you mentioned Crockett & Jones, because I've been considering a pair of boots by them, but also think they're overpriced. Thing is, I just love some of their designs. But I've also been looking at Morjas, Loake, and Carmina. Ralph Lauren is probably best thought of as a number of different brands. Some Purple Brand (on sale) is incredible). RRL on sale can be very nice. I basically stay far away from Polo, unless it's vintage.
There may be better options or alternatives for a cheaper price, but you always have to pay for the brand name. Some people want to wear something from a well known or iconic brand, even if you can’t get something better for less.

Barbour and Belstaff both uses wax cotton on their jackets but they sell two very different products that caters to two very different market/lifestyles. Comparing them is a bit disingenuous as they are apples and oranges. Belstaff is designed with motorbikers in mind and lean heavily on it's military inspiration whilst Barbour is English country. A slightly better comparison would be Belstaff and Barbour International (Barbour's sister company) as they both cater to the same audience. However, Belstaff jackets typically costs twice or three times the price of Barbour International so comparing their quality is also a bit unfair due to their market positioning. The synthetic lining in the Ashby sleeves are intentional. Ashby is slim fitting and the synthetic fabric prevents the shirt or jumper from getting pulled up when wearing the jacket. This isn't an issue with the Bedale and other looser fitting models. You should have done your reaserch before buying the Ashby IMO. I own Ashby and Bedale and I wear one or the other depending on what I need. I love them both. Crockett and Jones isn't overpriced. They are a little bit high, true, you are paying for brand name. But they are not too far off given the quality and material you are getting, and with shoemaker's wages being paid in British pounds. Again, comparing them to brands made in Portugal or Spain is a bit dumb given the wages in those countries are a fraction of what people get paid in Britain. You can say that Portugal or Spanish made shoes offer more value for money but you can't say overprice without knowing base manufacturing costs and mark-up. It would be better if you compare C&J price to value to other English shoe makers like Loake, Cheaney, and Church's. I agree with what you said kn Baracuta. They don't offer value and you are mostly paying for brand name and history.

About the Poly lining I'm sure there're cotton fabrics that can do the same, Private White for example uses better material on the sleeves. And about shoes, even if we compare only by Country, we can't compare everything with all exact numbers, if we start adding new variants, we might also need to calculate how long they've been in the business, productivity by employee, if they have new or old machines and a lot of things more just to have an exact number? Edward Green for example or Gaziano both made in the UK, how would you compare them? leather, lasts, equipment... I think we can compare Italian, Spanish and British shoes even tho we know salaries are not the same in that countries.

I recently bought a pair of Jaggs desert boots which i cannot be more happy with. For a decent jacket/coat, try Frahm. For all round good quality, reasonable prices standard clothes try community clothing. Made in UK
I've came across Jaggs. I haven't ordered yet. The only thing is good & bad - small company so some boots are made in small batches ( so sold out )& sometimes I think should that boot have that sole or I wished it came in another sole option.

Madly overpriced for ok quality, if I'm being generous. Their polos are absolute crap nowadays. I have some twenty-year-old Crockett and Jones, which I have looked after, and they're still beautiful and comfortable to wear. Their prices now are off the scale. I recently bought a pair of Cordovan Oxfords from Carmina in Palma for 40% less than their Crockers equivalent. They're just as good quality and great to wear. Great service in the shop, too, as a bonus-not so much in Jermyn Street.

The main point with overseas production is not about quality, is about the price they offer them, if the Bedale (Uk made) and other model of Barbour made outside of the UK have the same price, I don't think is fair, and I prefer to support the local producction, even tho quality could be the same.

One brand that I would add to your list is Collars & Co. They are selling polo shirt that are 100% pollster.

The poly lining in the barracuda jacket is to prevent pilling from 100% wool
Other brands are using 100% cotton that doesn't pill either
I own the ralph lauren harrington (paid 180€). 100% cotton and the sleeves lining is 50 cotton 50 rayon. Definitly no pilling.
