- The closest I think I’ve come to nailing the guitar sound of a Daughters song - not quite perfect, but I feel pretty happy with it.
Pedals used:
MXR Dyna Comp
Digitech Whammy (double octave setting, expression pedal positioned to add 1/2 step above original pitch)
Behringer HD300 Heavy Distortion
DOD Gonkulator Ring Modulator
BOSS DD-6 Digital Delay (quick delay time, mixed pretty low)

Amazing! I need to explain why you're interpretation of the solo blew me away. First off it's layered, they use a couple delays, a slide, and a fuzz that has oscillation. Your solution so it is just insanely good.
Thanks, I really appreciate it! The solo was always the one section of the song where I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was actually being played, so I opted to just do my own version. Glad you like it, though.

This is fucking sick man. Hope you consider doing more Daughters material, what a gnarly tone and compositional style. If you dont mind me asking what sort of setting did you have the gonkulator on? Anyway, great work
Thanks man, glad you like it! These are my knob positions for the gonkulator:
Gain: nearly all the way down
Dist: nearly all the way up
Output: a little above 9:00, maybe 9:30 or so
Frequency: close to 4:00, adjusted so the pitch of the overtone happens to match perfectly when you play a D5 on the b or e string
Ring: a bit past noon, kinda pointing at the bottom corner of the g in the word "ring".
I'm gonna keep experimenting with different configurations (I bought the pedal fairly recently so I'm still figuring out what sounds I can get from it) but I think this setup sounds pretty great for several daughters songs with some added distortion. Hope this helps

This sounds SO SO GOOD! Absolutely love what you did with your Whammy set to that semi tune setting too.. Does that work leaving that on for the whole song or is that something you just turn on for the higher single notes?
Thanks! Yep, the Whammy is fixed in the same half step position for the entire song and always stays on (it would be a challenge otherwise, since bumping it even a little can cause the expression pedal to change position and ruin the harmonics of the guitar)

Am I seeing things or are there jump cuts in this video? It sounds great, I'd just like to know for my own sanity.
Nope, the video just ended up really jittery after exporting. My editing setup is really primitive (basically just iMovie and movie maker) and it seemed like having two camera tracks was too much for the software to handle, which is why I've stopped shooting the pedal board in my videos -- you'll notice that all the videos after the black midi cover don't have that weird jumpiness. So don't worry, you're not crazy ;)

Thank you. I agree that it isn't quite right -- I think running the guitar through a POG is what's missing, which would probably add those extra crunchy high-end tones. Can't be totally sure, though.

Standard EADGBE, just layered with a duplicated pitch of FA#D#G#CF courtesy of the Whammy pedal.

Thanks -- I'm not really sure how to do tabs (I can barely read them as it is), so I'm not the best source for that sort of info. There's a tab available online that looks pretty different from how I play it, but it might help you if you're starting out with the song.
