    🍒 The total amount of condensed milk used was 3/4 CUP. It just looks like more because it was added a bit at a time.
    🍒 Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the fridge for up to 10 days.
    🍒 Baking tools & accessories used for this recipe:

      hela6208 LOL you must be from the UK or Europe. I am from the U.S. but lived in the UK and now Spain, and all you can get is desiccated coconut. It is rubbish. The coconut in the States-whether sweetened or unsweetened-is flakey, chewy and wonderful. Desiccated coconut is pulverised into practically a powder; and unheard of in the States.

    My hubby wanted something sweet to snack on and, of course, I had just gone shopping the other day, buying chips, dip, and NOTHING sweet. But when I came across this recipe for our MOST FAVORITE CANDY BAR, "MOUNDS", I looked at your ingredients and I HAVE EVERYTHING I NEED! Lol.
    So the coconut 'filling' is presently freezing in two ice cube trays (first sprayed with Pam and then lightly wiped out with a paper towel) in the freezer section of my refrigerator. (I did add a teaspoon of Vanilla Extract to the mixture)
    And once that's good and solid, I'll start slowly melting my Nestles dark chocolate 'chips' in a pan on low heat, using my NuWave electric 'burner'...very accurate in its temperatures, thankfully. (I don't have a Double Boiler and need all the help I can get! Lol.)
    Then the dipping...chocolate-shell-hardening...and eating will commence! LOL!
    (Already sampled the filling...YUM!!!!!)

    • @msr1116
      @msr1116 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a pastry chef I watch here on YT who never uses a double boiler to melt choc chips. He has a large heatproof bowl filled part way with very hot water and places a smaller heatproof bowl, filled with chips, inside. Lets it sit for a few minutes and stirs on occasion. Works well and no risk of burnt chocolate.

    That's so simple and such a cool way to make them.
    Thank you so much for sharing that with us. I wondered how that was done. Where would you get a dipping fork?
    God bless you real good 💕 🌿

    • @southernbelle1831

      Enter dipping fork into the search bar (I use duckduckgo) and you will find a myriad of different companies that sell them.
      Hope this helps. 😊

      Jude, you can also buy a dipping fork at any kitchen type store at a mall or even at Penny's department store probably!

    It says 3/4 cup condensed milk. How much would you say you actually used? The whole can or a can and a 1/2?

    • @BakingCherry
      @BakingCherry  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The amount of condensed milk depends on the moisture of the coconut you are using.

    These are easier if you scoop your coconut /sweetened milk mixture with a small cookie scoop. Add some melted chocolate to a mini muffin paper cup, add your coconut ball, add little more chocolate to cover top. Boom done with less headache & omit a step.😉

    • @marycook1644

      AZ Libra 71 Are you kidding ? That how I do my candies ! I always make sure to push the chocolate carefully down the edges so when you peel the wrapper off it is totally coated on the edges . I use an iced tea spoon . Nice to meet another genius ! 🦋👑🥄🏰💝

    I tried recipe and made a mess. I went step by step. Had a hard time cutting the coconut once I took it from freezer and really hard to remove from parchment paper. Should I have sprayed the parchment paper before putting coconut mixture on???

    • @pwatson79

      I had the same problems!! I ended up throwing everything out. So aggravated. I think if I make it again I'll freeze it overnight and use a different chocolate.

    • @marycook1644

      You could probably just refrigerate it . Maybe use waxed paper . 🌺
