This isn’t connecting a river to an ocean. I saw the original video and essentially when there’s heavy rains, the water floods in the dunes of the beach. Eventually, someone comes along and clears a little tunnel for the water and it all drains back into the ocean.

My grandfather took me to do something similar. Reconnecting rivers to lake Michigan after dunes would block them off. Yes, they would work their own way out eventually. But it was a fun activity on those long summer days in the U.P.

The title is incorrect. It isn't a fresh water source. It's rainwater that settles in a tidal beach head. After high tide, or when it's windy, that sand settles there at the inlet. If it was a real river tributary, then that beach head wouldn't have stopped it from running.

That doesn't mean we need to speed it up to that degree and potentially cause massive irreversible damage that effects nature AND people. Water typically flows far. That's affecting life both up AND down the stream. Imagine if someone did this in water where specific creatures lived that have few population. This could single handedly wipe them out. The title is incorrect. It isn't a fresh water source. It's rainwater that settles in a tidal beach head. After high tide, or when it's windy, that sand settles there at the inlet. If it was a real river tributary, then that beach head wouldn't have stopped it from running.

That doesn't mean we need to speed it up to that degree and potentially cause massive irreversible damage that effects nature AND people. Water typically flows far. That's affecting life both up AND down the stream. Imagine if someone did this in water where specific creatures lived that have few population. This could single handedly wipe them out. This type of insensitivity is a huge part of the problem.
1. It is completely impossible for a beach to be consumed by a river
2. no destruction was made
3. it’s likely heavy rain that formed large pond that is being made into a canal into the ocean to stop flooding from happening
