This is my first campaign I've watched from the beginning and I've started the other campaigns too (I was 2 very slowly with my partner and I'm binging 1) And I find I love the episodes she's present my favorites. I miss her when she isn't at the table! Also the "Imogen, wake up" sent me SCREAMING beck to the Last of Us when Joel's injured. I'm sorry Ashley but you will always have a little Ellie in you.
I love that Christian created FRIDA as a gift to Sam and Aabria created Deanna as a way to troll Travis. There are two types of friends and both are equally important and valid.

I have to say, while Travis's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day was really entertaining, Ashley sitting like a bird and flapping her wings while everybody else is screaming and freaking out is THE funniest fuckin thing I have ever seen and the labels of those two parts "There's A Lot Going On Right Now/But Also There's A Bird Just Chillin" made it even better.

There's a lot of truth to it. It felt like the entire group revolved around Jester (and it didn't feel even the slightest bit unnatural) and it wouldn't be hard at all to have the Vox Machina story told entirely from Vex's perspective.
@@GreyAcumen Campaign 2 was a bit more balanced in terms of who got the spotlight, Bells Hells does feel like it is Imogen and friends at times, simply because of how it all revolves around Ruidus and Imogen being so tied to it. But it's all in good fun

I'd even argue that Fjord's and Nott/Veth's arcs were bigger than Jester's. Being the glue that holds a group together does not mean you're the main character, in fact it's often the role of a supporting character (think Alfred or Lucius Fox). I'd argue that Jester and Caduceus shared that role in Campaign 2, and no one is saying that Caduceus was the MC. I mean, I can't stand Jester and will normally criticize her about anything and everything so If I'm even saying it's dubious... And, really, you cannot seriously be trying to convince anyone that Vex was the MC of Campaign 1? Where is your head on that one? Other than Pike and maybe (MAYBE!) Grog, Vex had the smallest character arc. I mean what was Vex's individual journey? Getting over her daddy issues, learning not to be so co-dependent with her brother, and falling for Percy? That very much pales in comparison to selling your soul in exchange for your twin's life by becoming the campion of the goddess of death and going through an entire tragic star crossed love story; going through a quest to rise to become the leader of your tribe who also guards the world from monsters of a primoridial relm for your 1000 year life-span (oh, and while also being the other half of that tragic star crossed love story); avenging the slaughter of your entire family, restoring your family's throne and fighting off a demonic posession; or even discovering that you have a daughter you didn't know about and it inspiring you to change your entire worldview of what you want for your future and how you treat people. Come on, bro! There is NO serious world where Vex was the MC of Campaign 1. However, Imogen is definitely the main character of Campaign 3. I'll give you that one.

Watching this live was hilarious, especially near the end where you could clearly see that Travis was trying to scrounge up ANY reason for Chetney to stop fighting F.R.I.D.A.
Also I'm amazed that's with Orym, Laudna and Ashton on the other team, Fearne, Fearne of all people, is trying to be the voice of reason with regards to Imogen

the jump from “you’re the first thing from my past that didn’t hurt” to getting ready to man-hunt Chet was pretty wild, especially when you think that FRIDA was drawing Were-Chet closer when they could have let the werewolf hunt. even after everyone + FRIDA were on the complete other side and trying to calm her down. or maybe i’m on edge and it’s just me
also there was some very weird stuff. Like immediately assaulting him, which is never ok no matter how bad a breakup was. Or the thing she said "we don't need to excuse his bad behavior". It's a literal curse. It also feels very much like this wouldn't have been said if chet was played by a female CR actor and was a female character. There you would have had compassion and understanding and feeling sorry for this condition. But with a man it's seemingly always "as soon as you're a potential danger you're on the blacklist of society". Broken men get tossed, broken women repaired essentially. This is just so sad. Chet's curse is no different than being schizophrenic or any other severe mental disorder. Saying "there's no excuse" is just so unnecessarily cruel. It's not like he loves always being at the risk of hurting and even murdering those that he loves.

She TOLD us her hurt from the get-go. Imagine dying a brutal death, to eventually finding peace and calm in the afterlife for 200 years, only to be brought back (presumably against your will?) to a world in which your family has moved on, and you have nobody left. Everything that she remembers from her recent life now hurts. When she says Chet was the first thing she came across that DIDN'T hurt... that speaks volumes to the amount of pain she's felt over the years.
Lex and Fire, I couldn't put better myself. Cake of Doom went way in the bag for that. It's simple, the one person who has become her literal lifeline in this new life she is living almost died. And Abria is rping not understanding the full scope of lycanthropy. All she knows is that the only person she has in this life was almost killed by the guy the broke her heart but also still has her heart. While not understanding the full scope of Chetney's werewolf condition. I.e. the group trying to explain it and her talk about it later with Chetney. Also disclosing to people that you're traveling with that you could possibly transform and kill them would be the right thing to do lol
I am so happy that this comment section has actual normal comments and less hate. The Episode on youtube has so many comments that hate on Aabria for no reason. Really happy that this one here is just enjoyment, love and normal reactions to the events.
I didn't watch the series she DM'd, but she's incredible as a player. She has a crazy quick wit and a sweet emotional core to her character. I'm going to have to go back and watch more stuff with her.
She DMs great when the rules are more freeform and can rely on humor to prompt improv buy in. It was REALLY offputting to have charisma saves for things that should have been perception checks and a lot of the plot hooks were just... not well baited at all. Brennan talked about how deep the character creation aspect in EXU: Calamity set down motivations, which he used to set all of them up beautifully (in which Aabria was a wonderful player) and I think a lot of his success DMing that is thanks to her going in blind and crashing into the various hiccups from trying to adjust Crit Role universe to a short form campaign.
So much good STUFF happened in this episode, that I'm not surprised you had to include so many moments. Love the level of effort and love that goes into making these videos.
It was a nice touch inserting Aabrias Messages from Twitch Chat about gaslighting the DM 😂 - also all the Aabria/Travis interactions... Edit: I totally missed Travis' reaction to the fact that Deanna was dead for 200 years - just another reason to look forward to your videos, because I notice those little details
I was waiting ALL week for this because oh my god this has been one of my favorite episodes. They've all been so incredible but this one has the comedic, uncertain tension release after the big fight, shakes up party relationships, introduces new ones, and a ROBOT WHO MIGHT BE A WEREWOLF NOW. This episode just. It has everything. The fact that two sections are labeled "idk man a lot is happening" was so funny because gkskgkekhk there sure was Also "Jesus Christ Ashley Johnson". YES. GOD JUST. She grabbed me by the THROAT with that I am obsessed with her. Fearne is KILLING it rn.
