This is the basic warm weather bag/gear we recommend the Search and Rescue team members carry when doing a primary search in our back country located in Southern Arizona. Thanks for watching.
I keep seeing leaf bags on sar check lists. Do you have anymore insight of type and usage? I guess they can be used for various tasks but was thinking more about material off and sizing. Regards
What I have used are large Contractor Trash Bags at least 2 MM thick. Others used the Leaf trash bags. I find this bags in the big home improvement stores.
of course, but what i mean is that the video is obviously designed to show equipment that would be useful to search and rescue and in my mind it doesnt make much sense to bring/carry rope, webbing and carabiners, (all meant to enable a short, quick rappel) and then not bring a proper friction device to use to lower yourself.
Erica Wharton This is a basic pack weighing in at 15 lbs with no water, food or extra clothes. The thought was to keep it light and low budget. Video is aimed at our new members. Thanks for looking.

Very similar to our sar pack base requirement in San Bernardino County
Thanks for showing this set up.
Thanks for watching. This is an old video from 2012. Modern materials will change the products but not the concept.
Solid loadout! Enjoyed it
great pack load out. Thanks for taking the time and sharing.
+Vernon SAR Thanks for looking.
Great looking kit..greetings from New Zealand LandSAR and Australiana SES. ..Phil and Matt
Greetings to our friends from New Zealand and Australian. Thanks for looking at our video
really good video.
I will ask the presenter what it is and where he got it. I will post info once I get it. Thanks for watching.
During the winter months they augment with winter clothes.
Great video is this gear you pack year around on all Search & Rescue missions?
Thanks for posting this. One question, what kind of radio do you have that you can charge it with a clamshell? Thanks.
The radios most folk carry is the Icom with an extra battery. The communication van carries a charging unit.
@@yuccanator1 Thanks.
Yep do not leave home without it.
Thanks Eric.
Nice setup you've got there. Who makes that pouch you have strapped to the bottom of your pack?

yuccanator1 and what do you use them for?
I carried them as a water proof barrier or hand out to people as a make shift poncho.
yuccanator1 got ya, I kind of thought that was going to be the usage for them. Cheers
The presenter does not recall name of bag but it is a Blackhawk product.
Solid Pack, good load out video. What is your all up weight? I run a similar pack and at 10Kgs (22lbs)
Per narrator around 25 pounds with food and water. A little more during Winter.
Where can you get one of those small stoves?
It is called an Esbit Stove. You can find online, big box sporting stores or military surplus.
@@yuccanator1 thanks! Did not recall that stoves came that small! 😉
@@jamesburton1050 Old school, came out during WWII. I carried one for years till I replaced it with an alcohol stove.
how would you realistically rappel down without a rappel/belay device?
This video does not dive into the technical rescue aspects of SAR. Video is for beginning members to participate without undo burden to finances.

Agree.
You can very easily rappel with a carabiner with a munter hitch. Wouldn't hurt to bring an atc or ats though
You should upgrade your knife to a Becker BK2.
Thanks
What is SAR Guys ? Is something relationated to rescue ?
+matheus oliveira: SAR stands for Search and Rescue.

matheus oliveira SAR = Search And Rescue.
What model bag is this maxpidition??
The speaker's pack is a Blackhawk. I do not recall what style it is.
