  • This time we'll be taking a closer look at the contents of the British 37 Pattern Small Pack as carried by British Troops in NWE during WW2.
    As part of the Monty's Men adventure I've teamed up with Jake from the Jake Brown Collection. www.youtube.co....
    Part 1 Kit Overwiew: • Civies to Monty's Men:...
    This series of videos will follow us through our preparations for next year's Monty's Men Trip which is considered the top in WW2 reenacting. We'll be covering preparations and getting our kit up to the exceptionally high standards required
    Monty’s Men is a collective of individual living historians who are usually members of other groups. The group, albeit without a name, existed in 2002 but the first Monty’s Men ‘branded’ trip was in 2003 as a platoon of the 9th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry.
    The ethos behind the Monty’s Men group is a fully immersive living history experience and, wherever possible, not compromising on accuracy. As such, the men were fed from compo rations to the same menus as the 1944 British infantrymen and there were little modern conveniences other than where modern safety standards required it. During battle would there be any times where you would have to sleep in the battle feild? Also would you carry a blanket with you just in case?

    Would you also happen to have a type of shelter to camp in the battle field.

    Safety razors are certainly much Safer than straight razors. Where did you get the toothpaste from?

    Would you bring a large pack into battle or just a small pack?

    • @kevinofishero
      @kevinofishero  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi JB.. The large Pak would always be left back with supplies or at camp. Most of the time the large pack would be carried by transport...

    What did soldiers on the field use for aftershave ? Is this what shaving stick is for ?

    • @MikeJones-xw3te
      @MikeJones-xw3te 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No aftershave ever used in the field, due to the smell, which would give away your position or presence to an enemy.
      The shaving stick, would be non perfumed and used with a stubble brush,gave you the soap to shave with. No shaving cream in aerosol cans used.
      Set up of this small pack, with contents is very close to what I had in 1972, when I joined the army, as my unit was still issued 1938 pattern webbing. By that time, we had to carry a few more items squashed into the pack.

      When I worked at the medical depot in ludgershall in the 70s/80s they were still using 1943 issued packs for first aid kits
