    Fender forgot to chew up the fretboard, put finish blemishes everywhere, leaving polish compound in the joints, crack the neck pocket, weaken the headstock and figure out the Gibson trademark secret of poor tuning stability. They also forgot to over price it by $1k

    • @TurtleRocker12
      @TurtleRocker12 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The poor tuning stability you speak of comes from the sharp angle on the head stock and the way the strings divide at the headstock. I think it was designed before you bent a lot and when everybody had a wound g

    • @Deebz270
      @Deebz270 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are far better channels dedicated to that task than Trogly here... He uses wire-wool to clean his fretboards, something no self-respecting lutheir would ever countenance. All those shards of rust-gathering steel strands stuck under the frets... Not forgetting the dust, or miniscule scratches everywhere.
      .
      Troglly is cool for 'general information' mostly about Les Pauls', though he does have a good wealth of knowledge on most of the top brands. And is very good at spotting scams and fakes. But when it comes to guitar maintenance/repair, look elsewhere.

    I was always confused why fender sells wide range hum buckers today as wide range even though they aren’t really wide range, they aren’t the CuNiFe magnets anymore they are just wax coated AlNiCo, it’s just really frustrating to me and now you can get the CuNiFe ones from the custom shop which is nice, but I just wish they didn’t just put a regular hum bucker underneath a wide range plate and call it a wide range hum bucker

    • @alanthompson3493
      @alanthompson3493 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I think these are standard humbucker-size Shawbuckers, not the larger Wide Range HB's. In any case, Fender is now making real CuNiFe WRHB pickups with the original construction, only for a couple of guitars so far. It was just announced at the NAMM show. They finally were able to source the correct magnets, which they will also be the distributor for.

    • @Djarra
      @Djarra 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Last time I looked CuNiFe loaded replica pickups were $500 each, the originals were made for Fender by Lace (although designed by Seth Lover), and they came up with the sensor as CuNiFe magnets were getting hard to source.

    @pensdrawblood 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thank you for including the both pickups on setting in the tone demo. It’s annoying as hell when players only go back and forth between the bridge and neck and pretend the option of using both doesn’t even exist. It’s even more annoying when they do that when demo-ing a guitar with two volume and two tone nobs, ignoring the tones that can be created by adjusting those when both pickups are on.

    These are quite an upgrade from what I remember as the Telecaster Deluxe. I'm glad you demonstrated the differences in this video. To put that large headstock in perspective with the times just watch a few old Partridge Family reruns. Wide ties and extremely large shirt and jacket collars were the norm. Elvis's costumes of the same period also sported the huge oversized collars to go with his 70's period long and wide side burns. Eyeglasses from the 70's were also oversized frames. Elvis, Elton John and John Denver all wore big 70's style eye wear. Perfectly in tune with the large wide headstock's of the day.

    I they did have a carved top Tele the “Special Edition FMT”... it was odd as it came with black chrome hardware (not the same as black) and it did have two humbuckers, but only master volume and tone with a switch... more like a PRS style as the knobs were slightly inset into the top. Just watched a vid explaining how the newer wide range pups are nothing like the originals. That would probably sound better with Gibson pickups in it.

    There's also the Fender American Standard Telecaster - Ocean Blue -2015 with 2 humbuckers.

    The Tele FMT HH is pretty similar too, minus the tailpiece, the fact that it comes with Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and that it’s made in Korea. Mahogany body with a real flame maple cap and a mahogany set neck with rosewood board. It’s also got some cool beveling on the face of the guitar rather than the traditionally flat slab body. Easily one of my favorite guitars that I own.

    The gigantic pick guard on the Tele Deluxe, totally ruins it for me. I’ve never understood that design decision. This thing, on the other hand, is awesome! Very cool, I love it.

    I think you miss the point, Fender isn't trying to copy a Les Paul exactly. It's more of Fender's take on a Les Paul. All your complaints are about the differences you would like to see. Set neck and tilted head stock come with their own issues. How the controls and control plates are lined up is also pretty petty. Only thing I would like to see with this is a bound neck and block inlays. Being a Tele lover here I think this guitar looks great.

    Awesome. Love the mahogany neck. As the owner of a Les Paul & a Tele , I really like this . Les Pauls sound great ,but it's hard work playing an unergonomic , poorly balanced boat anchor.

    I think the FMT tele is a somewhat better mashup between the two since it has the set neck construction, mahogany body and neck, maple cap, and humbuckers. It's missing the dual volume and tone knobs as well as the selector up top that this one has. It is an import though, originally made in Korea and now in Indonesia, I think. Top it off with the Seymour Duncans Pearly Gates and 59 that it comes with and, I think, it adds up to quite a bargain. Nice vid.

    The white knobs make it look like something from a 60's Sears catalog. I didn't like them on my 66 Strat back then and switched to Tele knobs. Still have the Strat and put the stock ones back on to keep collectable.
