My first female had a spot on her tail that ended up like this. Her previous owner neglected her hardcore (he let her get attacked by a cat and never took her to the vet, he kept her in a 10 gallon tank with blue sand, he shared 2 crickets between her and a handful of frogs, etc...), and i ended up having to have her tail amputated on two different occasions. The second time i had it amputated from the wound, she ended up not being able to fight it and i ended up having to put her down because she went into organ failure from so much trauma catching up to her. I had her for several years after i rescued her and she was my baby. I sobbed so hard when i had to put her down. Its so nice to see you trying to make your baby feel better. He may he uncomfortable now, but he'll feel better after the wounds are taken care of!

I once rescued a bearded dragon from some college kids when I was in high school. He was 8 years old and they kept him in a 20g long. I spent a week trying to get years of shed off of him and there was a bulge on his head that I didn't want to mess with. I took him to the vet and the shed caused to much pressure that he had gotten a brain Aneurysm. He passed a month later after it popped but I gave him a great month from those college kids. And I put him in a new terrarium (40g wide). We do what we can

I’m sure most people just don’t know. This is exactly why I would never own a bearded dragon. They’re a lot of work. I owned an iguana for a while and that was enough for me (I took him just because he needed a home). I never caged him; I just built a tree structure in my bedroom with a heated lamp and let him hang out. He was pretty chill. I prefer cats though.

I have a bearded dragon that I love so much and when I got him his tail got caught I'm my drawer but he was fine. I still cried even though he was fine. Now he's all orange when I feed him or when I hold him. When he's in his tank and I pick him up, he's really really dark but with in a second of my picking him up he turns orange. When I put him in front of the window he turns orange. His name is Biscuit and I love him so much.😊

Yep. That and I caught myself wincing and pulling away every time he went to digging around and pulling off a piece of stuck shed.
It's been many years since I've had a reptile for a pet, a Green Iguana, but I remember very clearly bring told to not pull any of sheddings from him. It may be a different lizard, but the principal has to be the same. It was ok to help him remove it, if it was already loosened and maybe in an area that he had no way of removing on his own, but never use any amount of force to remove them. Only the pieces that pretty much fell off on their own were ok to help him remove. Worst case scenario, he should only be using a misting bottle with clean and clear water a couple times a day to help soften the skin so he can scrape it off himself. Even the salts he expelled through sneezing were pretty much off limits. Most of the time, and as long as it didn't get too badly built up, just a little bit of a spray, and usually after just a day or two, he would be able to scrape it off himself with one of his branches or rocks. Overall, it was pretty rare to have to pull any skin from him since most of the time he was able to scratch against something to get it himself.
