    Though it is said that you SHOULDNT peel a dragons shed is true. But also didnt tell you that in some cases if you dont aid your dragon on peeling its shed can result to stuck shed which really sucks, because it’ll permanently harden and wont be able to shed from that spot anymore, it can also house bacteria if there are pockets in that stuck shed. Not removing the shed can also cause bruising and scratches on them resulting trying to get that small piece of shed off them.

    Normally, helping a reptile when it comes to shedding isn’t needed.
    Rare occasions though, some reptiles will need help in removing dead skin that isn’t coming off.
    However, I do suggest talking with a vet about what to do in this situation.
    They’ll more than likely suggest doing something like this, or give the reptile a kind of bath to loosen the dead skin.
    But the only suggestion I recommend is talking with a vet or even a reptile specialist.
    That goes for all reptile owners, the guy in the video’s doing a professional job here!

And if you made it all the way through that video where he said the the Bearded Dragon was putting himself at risk for a real injury.

      Yes and even in the wild they have a hard time with sometimes it getting stuck but in the wild t j ey would then jave to just go with the flow. In captivity they can live twice that long or longer. Our Gecko is now almost 6 and when he sheds you have to assist in the entire process. When he was young, he just took care of that himself! This would have worked much better if you had had them soak in some warm water

    it seems like the exfoliation needs more time. like a week. i'd wait a bit. but that is just me. it appears the poor thing is in pain. i would stop.

    around the eyes were fine once you got to the top of the head that was another story your not pulling off stuck shed your pulling of shed that still needs time you effectively damaged the developing scales underneath congrats

      @@ChuckNorrizBeardedDragons your literally pulling non stuck shed off your not even putting them in warm water that proves my point right there that its not stuck shed also that scales are a lighter color then the raised shed scales i never said scars i said "developing scales" there is a difference under develop scales do not protect the dragon as well from uvb and heat so you may not see it but effectively at that stage of the scales development they could be damage since you yanked them off when they werent ready...

      @@Hypersite64He literally only pulled off what was already detached and left the shed that was still fully on there, he didn't try to peel the whole head off, just the bits that were already coming off.

    He is in pain and uncomfortable. Please don't pull shed. You can damage scales

      I would have thought he would just walk away if he was in pain? I am not restraining him. you are correct that if done too early it can hurt them, but this guy isnt being hurt

      @@ChuckNorrizBeardedDragons there seems to be a couple times when you "hold him still". If you accidentally pull shed that is attached to the scales you can damage them and cause rot. It truly isnt recommended to pull their shed to be honest 💙

    So much of that shed was not ready to come off. If your having to pull like that, its not ready.

  • @enigmaticheart666
    @enigmaticheart666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This is animal abuse. That eye shed was not easy to come off, hence why you were pulling so hard. If your care is proper you should NOT have to shed a bearded dragon, stop doing this.

    • @ChuckNorrizBeardedDragons
      @ChuckNorrizBeardedDragons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And belive me its not abuse. Monetized channels are reviewed for a whole list of things that could make it demonitized and I make money on all the videos. STAY RAD

      You can tell it's not abuse the lizard would not just stay there if it hurt yes they move a little but I would to if something kinda touching near my eye and it would have not even came off the way it did I have a few bearded dragons clearly you just want to clam it's animal abuse for the hell of it fact check yourself before calming anything
