Thank you! I have a limited amount of rolling stock at the moment, but am constantly expanding that to be able to make even better videos going forward!
This is the Russian Decapod, not the larger U.S. decapod. This one was in the 2023 Lionel catalog on page 24-25, which used tooling that was purchased from MTH. Since MTH did not use the IR drawbar, Lionel did not change it as that would require a change to the complete tooling that they purchased. . I wish it had the IR drawbar that you have. That would be much nicer than the large bundle of wires that I have to plug in.
Actually, it's a 20 pin tether just like the one Lionel used on the Mth tooled U.S.R.A 0-6-0. It's not that MTH used a tether . Rather, some of these MTH models represent smaller prototypes, specifically in boiler diameter. In order for Lionel to get the whistle steam effect and motor in the shell , the Legacy boards reside in the tender on these models. ( the Pennsy decapods are a larger prototype and can accommodate the Legacy boards) Unlike more typical Legacy / TMCC models, these engines will not run without the tender. If you lose coupler control, or the locomotive stalls, check that the tether is fully seated. Nicely done video pointing out the details and discrepancies.👍
1630 is such a beautiful locomotive, glad to see her represented in O Scale.
Completely agree. Thanks for watching!
Prototypical or not...if you like it, buy it and let the joys begin. She's a beauty ! 👍

Why does this model have a wired tether draw bar ? I have a pennsy version of the decapod and it has the IR drawbar .
