    I have been doing that in full 10 ft lengths by myself for 25 years. A quick tip install some green painters tape on top blade of your brake . It will prevent the metal from sliding up and allow one person to easily hem a 10 piece of 26g steel.

      It's very flimsy to handle the aluminum coil stock with 1 guy. 26 ga is a different animal. Even still, I was doing this indoors in winter, which kept us out of the wind. But any windiness and thin aluminum is asking for trouble and/or a learning curve to keep from messing up things. That flip we do on the video with just a hem in itself would catch wind like a sail, not to mention the 6 inch rips we piled up and marked.
      But there is just one guy in the video... see my other comment. LOL.

      All-American Handyman just don't squeeze the hem flat until you put in at least 1 bend in your trim piece , the piece won't be so delicate that way

    Side note....A little bit of oil on the cams works wonders. Makes the action super smooth and easier.

      Great idea. Not my brake, so I generally do the minimal maintenance. But next time I will do that. None of my buddies that owned a brake ever did any maintenance to them.

    Does the back stop come with the break?

      Yes, I think so. Or it looks like a $20 addon or something.

    Why is the camera man sitting on the floor?

    • @AllAmericanGuyExpert
      @AllAmericanGuyExpert  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't think he was. But the camera "boy" is short and the work area is elevated.

      LOL, GOOD point. likely the cameraman is 3 years old.

    i gotta try this green tape on upper blade thing and make one of my bends first. cause hemming under 3/4 is impossible by your self..well 3/4 is like the limit , of course 1 inch is easy.. but wich she would do 1/2... i have a tapco 19" 50 aniversery model. , side winder and cutoff slide tool..

      Hydro Space I’ve only ever done half inch hems. Anything more than that is unnecessary to me I learned that way and didn’t learn until later on that people have trouble with it. I learned on a tapco 19. I just put the half inch inside the break and bend. Then spin it and put it on top of the break and make sure it’s all the way down towards the hinge. Then if you notice the part that you lift to make the bend (moving hinge) has some play in it. Pull it/lift it towards you so it sits higher when you bend and while putting pressure on the metal crush the hem. Should be perfect

    You really need two guys ? I've been vinyl siding solo for 32 yrs , I must have hem bent enough coil to circle the globe all alone

    • @AllAmericanGuyExpert
      @AllAmericanGuyExpert  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No. That's not two guys. One is a child... He wasn't even a teenager at the time. So there was a guy and a 12 yo boy. LOL. He is learning.
      But I *tricked* *you* by not making that clear in the video and treating him like a man the whole time. He is mostly unseen. If you go back and watch, you will find that the photographer is humming and is actually a younger child than the one in the video.
      I actually planned it this way... The camera was supposed to stay primarily on me so it didn't show the "little" one. It turned out to be decent video work (except for the humming) despite being done by a kid.
      It's also got double the number of views than an official Van Mark Products video.
      So please, please, get a video of your work!! I'd like to see a real "siding solo" pro using it. I'll bet it would get a lot of views. I don't use it all that much.

      @@daveyboy8907 I don't do much with the brake.... it's a loaner. But there's virtually no pros out there who take videos of themselves and are willing to teach.
