Thank you for sharing this. You have a wonderful system. Although I am not in the building trades, I have about 35 years experience as a DIY homeowner and have done everything except install fascia trim and am about to do so on my garage which is why I am here. In my application, I figured out that 14" trim coil would work best. In my case, instead of cutting off the inch or so of excess that I don't need, I am choosing to hem that as well as the top edge. So I will have two hemmed edges and one 90 degree bend.
Thank you for sharing your expertise. You are a good teacher. You explained what you were doing and why. I appreciate the emphasis on efficiency and minimizing handling. Thanks again.

Watched the video a few weeks ago. Best part for me was the table set up. I'm a newbe homeowner having to replace all the metal trim on a 20 yr. old house I built. Unfortunately, my siding guy didn't know to warn me about al over treated wood. So it's rotted through. Thanks for the process video.
Thank you sooooo much, man. I have a good amount of coil stock work to do on my garage fascia and am completely new to the break. This was a huge help!
Hey thanks. My work just got one of these and I'm starting my first siding job. This was really helpful. Simple and clear explanation with a well developed process that I can take with me.
Thanks a lot. This helps a lot. Got a piece that I have to replicate because the old fascia flew off my building. But I have access to a brake for 20 minutes at my friend's place. And you even showed me how to cut it too. I'm ready to do it now.
Thank you so much, that’s is best informative way and detail of how to bend the fascia trim. I did one manually, just one 😅, and it did not look good. I will be renting the Metal Breaker so I don’t ruin all my trim sheets. Again thank you for showing us of “the how to do” or bend trims. Mike
This was a great video. So my question is what do you do when you have to bend around a fascia corner? Let's say you have a 10' piece and bend it at 5' at 90 degrees to wrap the corner of the house. Do you have a video for that? There as to be a slit at the 1" bottom edge to make the 90 degree bend. How much overlap do you allow for longer runs over 10'?
You can cut the bottom lip and use a hand brake to get a sharp bend, if the corner is level with the other corner, not a gable. However, if the top has been hemmed, you can't get a good bend out of it, you will need to carefully cut that top hem at the bend to get a clean look. I overlap about 2" on long runs, you don't want to go crazy with it. When you are doing the level eaves and you come to a corner that goes up a gable, I cut the pc about 2" long, cut the bottom lip off at the corner and bend the rest around the corner then the gable pc slides over that. You won't need a corner pc if you do it that way, looks cleaner. You will need hand benders though, to get a sharp bend.
Great video , thanks for your contribution.. Hem on top 1/2” , then 3/8” Hem on 1 inch lip that holds soffit adds time and work , but adds strength there as well ... .024 coil eliminates this need altogether Regards John
i made a box that holds the coil. i pull it through my break and cut it with the cutter. great way to do it especially on site. may be a bit more efficient
I have a carpeted table directly across from the brake, about 4 feet apart so I can cut and lay out everything then spin around and feed it to the brake back and forth with no walking needed.
Innovatool has one that will bend 24ga steel, I'm about to buy it. I do not like the Van Mark, I've had it for 8 years, it's does well enough, but it's not great.
Very good love the shop one thing when I do when I’m bent pieces like that I usually put a circle around my checkpoint that circle tells my partner that’s our band and the checkpoint with no circle is there a cut but very good work by the way that’s a beautiful break
Why didnt you hem the bottom as well? Im just curious as I bent metal and came across your vid, and happened to watch. Im 34, been at it for 14 years, and I bend a hem at the bottom of my fascia. I like a 1 1/4 bottom face wit a 3/4 hem, I also dont face nail my fascia, and I find it drastically reduces waves, so im just curious.
@@ajs96350 I’ve been using that machine for 30yrs. Don’t take it personally when a pro offers help. You can do 500k simple bends, not impressive. Can you do complex items tho. The only advice I would give on this video is while drawing your knife across the break stop before you get to the end and pull back so you don't run the knife off into the hinges like the guy in the video does that's the death of most brakes
“When I train a new guy” you don’t hear that too often!!! Thank you Sir for the video!!
lol i came out the womb bending metal fascia 😎
This is hands down the best explanation on how to do this. I just bought a brake and I had no clue how to get started. Thank you!#!
Agreed he’s a talented tradesmen!
This is by the far the best video on youtube for learning to bend metal.
I've never done this before. But with this guy's instructions I'm going in pretty confident that I'll get some trim made. This guy's awesome.

I’m trying this today. I hope it’s as easy as you make it look.
This is so straight forward and simply explained right
I'd also recommend hemming the bottom lip instead of the top

Efficiency. Love it. Do you ever hem the horizontal leg also?
Great info om a jome owner diyer whos going to attempt this, thanks for taking the time to make this video

You don’t want that sharp edge on the bottom, you need a hem on that as well,,to give it strength.

Where in the world do you get .024 trim coil?

Great video! Can't get over the Van Mark clamping the opposite direction though. Haha
Thanks for the video, very detailed! Love the fact that you have taken the time to share years of experience.
You are an excellent teacher!
Nice explanation. Company owners are all about saving wasted moves.
What gauge coil are you using
Shouldn’t the L portion have a hem as well?
Exactly my thought. The lip should absolutely have a hem because that is the part that is exposed with the soffit
Dang I want to go to work for this guy! Awesome video
I'm late to the game, but terrific presentation! All the best!
Great instruction! Greatly Appreciated!
Can you show in another video how to hem the bottom portion as well?
why no hem on the 90? I would have expected it there instead of the top.
It makes less waves on both, but if any, i agree with you. Not everyone can afford the profile wheel
For sure, the bottom is much to weak, and will probably have little bumps in it, where it is up against the soffit.
Thinking to get one ,but wondering if it would bend a 0.032 gauge. Stock
Innovatool has one that will bend 24ga steel, I'm about to buy it.
I do not like the Van Mark, I've had it for 8 years, it's does well enough, but it's not great.
How to make a box for a beam header ? Thank you.
There should be 1/2 “ hem o the cut edge, on nthe bottom. Just a plain cut edge is to week, to screw, or nail.
Nice job. I do it a tad different but yours looks great as well.
Awesome Video
Never seen black fascia trim before. Guess times are changing.
They make every color now brother man
How do you like that van mark brake?
Great ! But how do you bend. Inside corner ?
Nice work shed.

Thanks fellow American 😊 Damn! Made this out to be hard 😆 have a blessed rest of your life.
I need a 1inx6inx10ft piece exactly the same piece you made in the video. Where can I buy it? Thank you.
Thank you for the great video. Question about what the Hem does, is it to help push the drip edge away from the facia? Water control?
That’s done to keep the piece from being wavy. As a stiffener
I would imagine it could only help in that regard. Aids in ease of handling during install.

where does it reside

Hey! Nice work on the brake! Have you ever heard of some of our brake accessories?!
Nice video. Shouldn’t the 1 inch L bend have a hem too?
Maybe but if his job calls for 3 8inch pieces..why buy another roll of coil?
It sure as hell should.🐶
It sure as hell should, the bottom is much to weak. A half inch bend on top, and a half inch bend on the bottom inch part.
great instructions!
great video, very informative.

.024 is actually pretty thick. Is flimsy because it's aluminum.
