    I like your care for the painted side. Unlike painted steel, your average aluminum does not have as durable of paint to survive much handling. Too many guys in the field clearly have no idea they should minimize dragging it across surfaces. Every fold adds stiffness, but the real trick with fascia is nailing loose enough so it doesn't oil can; remember guys your gutter will nail/screw through it, too. You can use the jaw to set the hem on the short side. Most jaws are 1/2 inch on the portables.

    Thank you for sharing this. You have a wonderful system. Although I am not in the building trades, I have about 35 years experience as a DIY homeowner and have done everything except install fascia trim and am about to do so on my garage which is why I am here. In my application, I figured out that 14" trim coil would work best. In my case, instead of cutting off the inch or so of excess that I don't need, I am choosing to hem that as well as the top edge. So I will have two hemmed edges and one 90 degree bend.

Unfortunately, my siding guy didn't know to warn me about al over treated wood. So it's rotted through. Thanks for the process video.

    • @MadRat70
      @MadRat70 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He probably didn't warn you not to mark with pencil because it too will burn through aluminum. But its okay to trim treated if you put on peel and stick. You always do an underlayment or you are asking for leaks.

    This was a great video. So my question is what do you do when you have to bend around a fascia corner? Let's say you have a 10' piece and bend it at 5' at 90 degrees to wrap the corner of the house. Do you have a video for that? There as to be a slit at the 1" bottom edge to make the 90 degree bend. How much overlap do you allow for longer runs over 10'?

    • @ajs96350
      @ajs96350 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can cut the bottom lip and use a hand brake to get a sharp bend, if the corner is level with the other corner, not a gable.
      However, if the top has been hemmed, you can't get a good bend out of it, you will need to carefully cut that top hem at the bend to get a clean look.
      I overlap about 2" on long runs, you don't want to go crazy with it.
      When you are doing the level eaves and you come to a corner that goes up a gable, I cut the pc about 2" long, cut the bottom lip off at the corner and bend the rest around the corner then the gable pc slides over that. You won't need a corner pc if you do it that way, looks cleaner.
      You will need hand benders though, to get a sharp bend.

    • @MadRat70

      @@ajs96350 Sadly, that's what most builder marts stock. Its nice to work with .032 or thicker if you are doing your own home. But honestly, I prefer painted steel as much as possible, because .028 will ding like a golfball in a light hail storm. Insurance companies should be demanding .032 or steel, and if not refuse cosmetic replacement. It's farcical to think .028 is hailproof.
