PLEASE LISTEN TO HER SONG WITH JACOB COLLIER AND JOHN MAYER CALLED "NEVER GONNA BE ALONE" Headset recommended. You will die peacefully. You're welcome!
Nick's efficiency in movement makes it look like he's barely playing anything, but the groove emanating from his bass is amazing (as usual)! I love that style of playing.
Not quite. At around 0:24 she sings "and the beauty of it all"; the note on "it" shoulld be a D but it sounds very flat - almost as if it were a blue note, except the blue note typically is the third, not the fourth degree. Only reason I'm saying this is because she clearly isn't "perfectly in tune", but she really doesn't have to be - at least not all the time.
I love how there's no flash and extra noise to this, perfectly respecting the original and bringing a revival to the master that was Bill Withers. Love you guys!!!!
The moment around 1:24 is DEFINITELY my fav moment of this video, when they laugh while singing it makes the whole scenario a lot lighter, it's just so good to see that
I see the crystal raindrops fall And the beauty of it all Is when the sun comes shining through To make those rainbows in my mind When I think of you sometime And I wanna spend some time with you Just the two of us We can make it if we try Just the two of us (Just the two of us) Just the two of us Building castles in the sky Just the two of us You and I We look for love, no time for tears Wasted water's all that is And it don't make no flowers grow Good things might come to those who wait Not for those who wait too late We gotta go for all we know Just the two of us We can make it if we try Just the two of us (Just the two of us) Just the two of us Building them castles in the sky Just the two of us You and I I hear the crystal raindrops fall On the window down the hall And it becomes the morning dew And darling when the morning comes And I see the morning sun I wanna be the one with you Just the two of us We can make it if we try Just the two of us (Just the two of us) Just the two of us Building big castles way on high Just the two of us You and I Just the two of us (We can make it, just the two of us) Let's get it together baby (yeah) (Just the two of us) Just the two of us (We can make it, just the two of us) (Just the two of us) (We can make it, just the two of us) (Just the two of us) (We can make it, just the two of us) (Just the two of us) (We can make it, just the two of us) (Just the two of us) (We can make it, just the two of us) (Just the two of us)
Just as groove as "Staying Alive".. I come for the vocals but stay for the harmonies/ always a treat to see where these musical geniuses take me...always a surprise...
I keep coming back to this cover whenever it shows up on my recommended. The instrumental is magnificent, and the mix between Lizzy's laid back and sweet voice and the sharp funky talkboxing have created a piece of music that doesn't get old. Thanks, Frightening Purses!
I wonder if people realize how hard it is to sing harmonies to a talkbox. You're pitch matching an instrument that is mathematically perfectly on key, so you as a vocalist have to be super precise. Very well done! Love this song!
Coming back for a second listen, I think it’s the infectious vibe that makes this a noteworthy SP session. I like the rendition, regardless. But the chemistry that only a video can communicate.. puts the shine on this.
I've heard this song, like, a freaking 10k times, and realized that the bass line evolves during the song and in the end is just f-ing blowing up my brain cells. AMAZING!
(Shhhhhhhhh!! Ryan and Jack, the Rossi Twins, are just 2 awesome artists, intent on making great vinyl) Just The 2 of Us is a total stinker in the best new sense of the word. You guys - all of you, including Lizzy, are just making music back into a Performance Arte all over again. Special Renaissance Masters, Scary Pockets all. Thank you for keeping it joyous in the creating of...IT's a wonderful gift to those of us hearing and seeing you.
The laughter in the middle of the tune is golden! Reminds me a bit of a Brazilian singer, the late Elis Regina, who used to do performances somewhat like that (although more intentionally). Congrats guys! :-)
This was cool to watch and I absolutely love the sense of humor this group holds. Beautiful vocals and sick instrumentals. Bob Ross would be proud of that funk tutorial!
This song is incredible in every way the use of instruments the singing the background music and the drum groove🤯 I am starting to think this is better than the og
@@paultheboss yeah, after a couple of listens once you're used to it and can hear the really subtle reharm underneath in the instrumentation it sits super nicely
Can I just give you a sincere thank you for releasing on Mondays. This is seriously the best thing that happens every Monday. Also, can we just have Swatkins in every single song? k thx.
OMG!!! ARE YOU F'IN KIDDING ME?! Amazesauce!!! Like, SRSLY, this needs to be on every radio station in the whole country!! THE WHOLE WORLD. SOOO GOOD!!! That mouth thing is so classic!!!
@Julian "Ugh" is for something terrible; e.g. ugh, it stinks. "Ah" is for something nice; e.g. ah, so smooth. Don't even think about claiming you mixed "ugh" with "so nice" as a twist.
Are you guys from another planet, send here to make the world funky and happy again? Ok, cool...I thought so. (I looooved the making of a funk record in 70's style. That was brilliantly hilarious.)
Ah yes, the classic story of the love between a woman and a robot. A tale as old as time.
This is real life not Blade Runner. He is obviously a cyborg.
@@paulg5287 Hey now, they're replicants in Blade Runner not robots. Don't insult Roy and Pris like that.
Haha that made me LOL
Florence and her Machine
Ha
i love how you can hear her smiling when she sings. so much character added it's unreal
Wow, you really can!
She makes YOU smile and that's beautiful. She's not really smiling though, she's singing.
@@bela-sofia34 She actually laughs two times in the video. I think he's referring to this: 0:51 and 1:24.
I don’t know what’s better: the way Swatkins looks at Lizzy, the way Lizzy looks at Swatkins, or the way Ryan looks at them looking at each other.
true, so sweet
Ryan, it’s Ryan.
Or the way those mics sound when they look at each other. Delicious.
😂😂
Nah I am here for the way Nick and Jack look at each other!
Capturing and not being afraid to release a take with that laughter between Swatkins and Lizzy is what make SP so freaking fun, it's just so real!
love that you left the laughs in at 1:23, really hits home that the band is playing live, you see everything you hear - always magic
yeah! and i love it. thats was great!
That's the best part of this song!
Agreed great moment
Her voice is like gold wrapped in crystal. So clear and full bodied.
She sounds a lot like Hayley Williams. Equal skill too. Along with just a little bit of Estelle.

Lizzy! So great to see her singing with Scary Pockets, she's pure quality.
2:54 that fill on the bass. so good!
Thanks for calling that out! Dude is amazing
Yeah there, but really all through. Great bass.
@@Morelynn definitely. Nick Campbell is just a really skilled bassist
@@connersigrist I've known Vulfpeck for about 6 years! Seen them live twice. I've been a fan of Joe Dart from the beginning ;)
@JulienZ definitely had to replay that bass fill multiple times, then I noticed the vocal run that happens at the same time! Mind blown
Nick's efficiency in movement makes it look like he's barely playing anything, but the groove emanating from his bass is amazing (as usual)! I love that style of playing.
she's so skilled she can sound perfectly on tune against a super precisely tuned machine
That's how all singing with accompaniment works though.
true
except she cant hold the tone, a let down
Not quite. At around 0:24 she sings "and the beauty of it all"; the note on "it" shoulld be a D but it sounds very flat - almost as if it were a blue note, except the blue note typically is the third, not the fourth degree. @@karlpoppins while you may be correct it still kills the mood lol
Watching them having fun makes the song even better
I can't get enough of this. Lizzy's talent, the joy in the air, and the chemistry between lizzy and swatkins take it to a whole other level.
The perfect match, please guys do more with Lizzy
comin right up!
@@ScaryPockets I SAW!! WOOHOO!!
The tone of the harmony of those voices is FANTASTIC.
I know the vocals killed it but man, that bass was laying it down lol.
I miss seeing Nick Campbell on the bass in these
The contrast in the vocals is giving me all sorts of feelings I hadn’t expected. Dear God.
Amazingly, this song was written about a man and his plastic talkbox tube. Finally someone gets it.
Pin this comment please
Can you help me? How is it about plastic talkbox tube? Thanks!

I expect more than one video with Lizzy, She's too good!
They have on of very cool version of "Stayin’ Alive"
the harmonies, the romantic stares, the laughter, the passion of the guy at the start, just superb
The moment around 1:24 is DEFINITELY my fav moment of this video, when they laugh while singing it makes the whole scenario a lot lighter, it's just so good to see that
I second this
OKAY BUT THE WAY SHE BLENDS WITH THE VOCODER IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION
The groove, the ambience, and that talkbox sound. Blend perfectly!
I agree the talkbox adds a certain flair that makes the whole track sound just that much better
I see the crystal raindrops fall
And the beauty of it all
Is when the sun comes shining through
To make those rainbows in my mind
When I think of you sometime
And I wanna spend some time with you
Just the two of us
We can make it if we try
Just the two of us
(Just the two of us)
Just the two of us
Building castles in the sky
Just the two of us
You and I
We look for love, no time for tears
Wasted water's all that is
And it don't make no flowers grow
Good things might come to those who wait
Not for those who wait too late
We gotta go for all we know
Just the two of us
We can make it if we try
Just the two of us

Ok I just figured out that they can’t remember who’s supposed to sing “just the two of us” at the end of the phrases.
Really magical moment
I thought it'd be strange combining a talk box singer with a traditional singer, but... NAH. STILL A BOP.
Yeah it’s well executed. Great performances and the effects on Lizzy’s voice make for a less jarring contrast
Just as groove as "Staying Alive".. I come for the vocals but stay for the harmonies/ always a treat to see where these musical geniuses take me...always a surprise...
LIZZY IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. The energy levels here were unreal - it's been a while since music made me vibe this hard!! :D
A girl and her robot 😉
“Boy, that stinks.”
Spoken like a true Bob Ross.
Her voice is amazing. It sounds so effortless yet crystal clear.
The Bob Ross outro, oh my GOD, you guys. I'm dying lmao
The lyrics:
"just the two of us, we can make it if we try"
The rest of the musicians:
"are we a joke to you"

This may be my favorite Scary Pockets video. Lizzy has such a beautiful voice. I love talkbox and Swatkins does it as good as anyone I've heard.

However you play this song... it's a masterpiece. And when it's reinterpreted by solid musicians like you it really reasonates with the soul.
this is the real definition of jamming. amazing sync, so fun to watch!
These outro ads are freaking awesome. Never thought I'd say that about an ad
Lizzy McAlpine also has an unbelievable collaboration with Jacob Collier, truly enjoyable to listen to and her song writing superb.

The "mistake" where she forgets to come in top of 2nd chorus = BEST MOMENT OF VIDEO (sounds great too)
The song was really good. But "The Joy of Grooving" was absolutely the cherry on top!

Something about the sonics of this is freaking me out. Is she singing the melody and he singing a third below? Soooo goood.
