Didn't know that! That's dope! I rented the Silverado EV again and actually charged it on that trip. That video is coming out early next year. Would love for you to weigh in on that when it comes out. Do you own an EV truck?
@ I’m actually going to order the 25 Silverado EV LT likely in February from my local dealer. I convinced the wife to get the 24 Equinox 2LT AWD and we love that vehicle. I have placed a deposit on one back in 22 so it’s been a bit of a wait but it’ll be worth it. I’m looking at replacing my ice 21 GMC Sierra with the EV for towing an RV around my province. Gas prices are crazy in Canada compared to what you’re paying in the US.
@johny.5381 im in Canada. So i payed in Canadian Monopoly money where they sold the 4WT for $80,000. But after taxes and delivery and othe rfees it cost me $84,000CAD... which is the current equivalent to approximately $58,000USD
Glad you liked it. You need to checkout the RST version or better yet the Sierra Denali EV version. Either will adress almost every feature you felt you were missing.
I own a Ford extended range Lightning Pro and I own ant navigate properties that have me on logging roads with mixed areas of mud vs high ground. I also have a muddy labrador and frequent passengers with outdoor gear. I love that I have a great grade of vinyl seats and the general interior of the Pro is rugged but out classes the Silverado WT. The Silverado does have the range, no question. But it does so at the expense of it weighs more then a ton more and you’ll feel that effect on muddy slick trails on a side incline. And the WT costs almost 30k more then I paid for my Extended range Pro. But they are hard to find as they typically available only to fleet or commercial buyers. Your University might be able to help you out with that.
Thanks for watching and for the insight! Where'd you buy your F150? $30k less than a Silverado EV WT is incredible! I don't have an immdiate need for an EV truck, but it'd be nice to have one. I was incredibly excited about the Pro when it was announced, but all the prices I've seen in my area have been north of $75k. Curious to know what you think of my forthcoming video with the Silverado EV on a 900mi road trip. It should be out early 2025. Cheers!
@@outthereJCH There is a dealer that specializes in fleet sales near me that ordered twenty some Pros with extended batteries for a large local service company. They bought all of them except three. So this dealer was sitting on the most base of base models, only option was the big battery. I worked on them for three months to shoot me a great deal but they weren’t moving until early summer and finally I got it for the price of a PRO standard range and two days before I signed the contract, Ford came out out with incentive on the Pro trim that is usually unheard of, and I got an extra $ 1000 off and 0% 72 month finance for what I negotiated as a cash price. All in I put zero down at a 50.9k purchase price. I miss having a 240v plug and a few other very minor features like power seat, but I’ve got a 4x4 that has locking rear diff, 4sec 0to60, more payload and towing then I ever use. For me it works well, I would love more range for the few times a year that I would use it but not at the price GM wants. Plus as I said before, as a former HD diesel owner, that extra two thousand pounds can be a game changer on dicey trails. But to be honest with you, I find that when things get really bad I’m more likely to use an atv or utv with a light trailer to save on wear and tear on the logging roads. Just stumbled across your channel. Checked a few videos out and subscribed. I appreciate the outdoor focus from someone that has a background of a wildlife professional. Expect to see more comments as I hit some of your other older videos. I’ve already seem some things to have a friendly challenge discussion. Not to be disagreeable, but more to test the assumptions vs reality in some practices. Example, as a very longtime Great Lakes fisherman, the Japanese version of pithing and bleeding for fish quality.
1:29 Hold Up!!!! What? Charging is not that great on the EV6? Explain that please because I own one and just did an 1800 mile road trip over the Holiday. The EV6 has one of the FASTEST on board chargers and 300 miles of range on a full battery AND can charge from 10%-80% in 18 minutes at a DCFC BECAUSE of that on board charger.
You're totally right. I misspoke. The charging network in the area I was wasn't great. That's what I meant. Thanks for pointing this out. I recently rented an EV6 when I was home visiting my mom and loved it. In the follow-up video to this one I rent another Silverado EV and charge it, and that experience was probably the most surprising aspect of the trip. I had in my mind that the Electrify America network was trash, but it was actually incredible. I'm make a note to correct my statement in this video. Thanks again!
Indeed. Hertz didn't have the RST to rent. I'm not sure if they will. I don't think this truck makes sense to buy unless you're doing so for your business. Have you driven the RST? I'd love to take that one for a spin.
@@outthereJCHyou need to look and drive the Ford first. At every trim level they art lighter and far less expensive. GM has the range but having lived with my Ford for a while, I am less concerned about range then total cost. Plus at the trim I want for muddy messy lifestyle, Ford has IMHO, a better work truck feature for feature. I recently looked at a 2024 3WT Silverado, generally liked it and it’s range. But it was also at best price they would give me, 28000 bucks more than what I paid for my Ford extended range Pro… that’s no bueno! I’ll get around the difference in range for that kind of money as I know that I am rarely in a situation to worry about the range of my Pro.
Thanks for watching. Sadly, yes, they didn't have the RST for me to drive. Not sure Hertz is going to buy any. What EV truck are you most interested in? Do you own one? I really like GMC Denali EV, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
I actually traded in my Tesla for the Silverado EV LT back in October. Not a fan of Elon's political views so no more Tesla for me . I've been electric since 2014@@outthereJCH
I agree about the nervousness of doing so. But it's all about infrastructure, right? If I had solar panels and a battery at home and had a truck with this kind of range, I'd consider it strongly. On the other hand, I have an uncle who has an F250 diesel and he says he can go 1100mi on a single tank, which is just nuts! Do you drive a truck?
It wasn't class leading, I agree. I was pleasantly surprised they had in the work truck version though. Is it bad in all other models? I drive a Palisade now and Hyundai's lane tracing is the best I've experienced. But also, I haven't driven luxury class vehicles to see how those compare. Thanks for watching!
Sorry to break this to you, but the first time you try to travel cross country with a 100% electric vehicle is the last time you'll want to drive a 100% electric vehicle. I wish it was better, but between the sparse infrastructure and the long recharge times you have to end up planning the entire trip around electric stops. And the first time you pull up to charging station at like 2% charge and none of the chargers work, well that's when you really go Wally World.
I disagree. I;ve done many roadtrips with an EV and did not encounter major issues. Maybe it's because I learned what I needed to do and thus I understood that charging will take longer than refueling with gas. And I never encounter any stations that had all dispensers dead. Yes, I know that can happen, but its really rare these days.
@fatherwilliam7256 I must break this FUD that you are selling here - The times you travel across this country with a 100% electric vehicle you will wonder why you ever even put up any other propulsion drive type. The lies that @fatherwilliam7256 are just distraction to the reality of owning an EV.
Thanks for watching. Sorry you feel that the car a person drives is tied to their sexuality. What's your favorite car/truck? If money were no option I'd own four vehicles I think: 1) Nissan GTR 2) Ford Velociraptor 3) Lucid Gravity 4) TVR Sagaris What about you?
If you have the nacs to ccs adaptor you can also use the Tesla superchargers

i LOVE my Silverado EV 4WT.
Superior range and charging, plus can act as a back up home generator. all for $58,000USD
