My dad often lended different family members money, he rarely ever got paid back. He told me when I was 10 years old, that he gave the money thinking he would never see it again and would be pleasantly surprised if it was ever paid back. So in his mind, the money was gone once it was "lended" to family/friends... A few did pay him back though, but hardly any.

If you say "you can pay me back" (even if you don't really mean it) then your friend doesn't have to feel guilty for the rest of the time. Then when some time has passed and you haven't asked for it back they usually forget and everybody got to have a good time and nobody feels bad. I've asked friends to lend me money too, although if you're asking for the favour I think you're obligated to pay it back. Usually I'd rather pay for people than lend them money, but some people are funny about money and "lending" is just easier for them. Like Mandie says, if its an amount you can't afford to never see again, just don't offer! But some things are worth more than money and its good to let some go sometimes, for people who deserve it.
My wife n I have loaned money out to family without expectations of being paid back. We just kiss it away. The one exception was when her sister borrowed money from my wife so that her 401k wouldn't be impacted. I'm sorry but that was unacceptable for her sister to ask us for money under those circumstances. It took her years to pay it back of course while she brags about how well her investments are doing. My wife is a bleeding heart so my mom-in-law is living with us right now because the family doesn't want the expense of a nursing home. They all cringe at the thought of mom in a nursing home but don't want mom living in their house.

And my parents paid for all the funeral expenses and they had to nerve to complain about the ceremony not being grand enough.

Care credit is “very hard” to get approved for?? Care credit is from synchrony bank, they specifically target low scoring applicants. They charge high interest rates and slightly predatory deferred interest promotions. 🤨

I understand that not everything in life is free and you have to take responsibility for yourself but the government should take over and at least make sure poor people have a way to get treatment and make payments without profiting off them with interest and fees
The finance company only benefits is the charge is under $200 or over $200 and not paid off within 12 months. I know there's extended time to pay off with 0% interest, but I believe it's once you hit the $1,000+ for a one-time charge, not cumulated charges that total $1,000.

"Lent" is the word you mean, not "lended." There's also the less formal word "loaned," which Judge Judy uses.
