My mom is a lifelong smoker. In her '70s, she can finish a carton of cigarettes in less than a week. I told her I'd rather she smoke weed. It might make her more mellow and less bitchy. I adore my mom, but she is a bit of a handful in her old age

I can even puff a couple times and a cigar. But if I'm stuck breathing it in all day I will have serious trouble breathing. You have a right to smoke on your own property. But if your smoke goes on to your neighbor's property in large quantities. Then you've broken the Do no harm rule when it comes to your neighbors.
I worked at a Domino's as a manager in 1998. A girl I kind of knew pulled up to order at the drive thru...I couldn't understand a word she was saying, and each word blew a gust of vile drunk breath in my face. She got mad because I couldn't understand what she was saying, put her car in drive, floored it, cranked the steering wheel left and drove over the public sidewalk, tore up the yard, and drove over the sidewalk to the entrance. when she parked, she sat there, passed out in her car. Two drivers went to check on her and said she was out cold. I called the cops and had her arrested. They also had her car towed, It was great.

The chain-smoking neighbor may be absolutely free to smoke however much and wherever she wants on her property, but anyone with a shred of decency would take their neighbors into account, especially if smoke is a trigger for a health issue. Now I have a loose leaf vaporizer that doesn't stink up the place but I still watch out for open windows. No one asked me to move from the buildings, but if they did I would've apologize and moved
As a smoker, I approve this message. Yes, I know, and I’m trying to quit again. It’s a process. Anyway, I go out of my way to *not* torture others with my own bad choices. Cigarette smoke is strong. A lot of other people smoke in my group of apartment buildings, but when there’s a neighbor that doesn’t (like the current one next to me) I only smoke in front of my apartment when his windows are closed or when there’s a good wind heading in the other direction (which it usually does blow that way). If there’s nice weather or I see the windows open, I just go on the other side of the building 🤷♀️

Story 3: You'd have to be an absolute idiot to basically admit to having a fake ID on *social media.* Also, this revenge slips into ProRevenge because while Petty tends to not cause much damage, this revenge was a mix of getting banned, losing a lot of money, and OP getting the love of her life. Story 4: This one also counts as pro in an overall sense since the Karen got arrested for trespassing, and that can lead to large fines and jail time.
I guess it's somewhat subjective, but anything that leads to an arrest has to be at least pro in my opinion. Story 3 seems to be more pro then petty as well.

Yes! I don't have asthma, but when I got told I have severe allergy against pollen, my neighbors actually cut down a tree that stood right in front of my front door. They were so nice about it. This however can get very serious if the Karen ignores the condition of OP or blows smoke into her face.

Left handed bag is genius. This reminds me of the pranks people used to play on the newbies. My mum remembers a young man (16ish year old as was she - it was post war Scotland and people started working earlier) coming into the law office she was working at and saying that his bank needed more verbal agreement forms. She tried to explain to him that there was no such thing but he was insistent. She finally gave up and said they were out of them and to try another law firm across town. That, of course, was the entire point - to have the newbie spend a day walking all over town looking for something that didn't exist. As someone who used to be insecure and a victim of bullying as a child, I know from personal experience, that the ones who bully you are often more insecure then you are and it's a way to make themselves feel better about themselves that they bully you. It still doesn't make it right, and it still hurts, but eventually you'll overcome it and move on.

I love those stories. Last one was a little disappointing, but it was good. I met with an old friend who told me about this anti-karen attack. My friend was at the managerial task at a mini market. A young woman (probably in her later teens) was the cashier and the target of a nasty idiotic male karen. That man always made fun of her ears to the point all of the staff tried to trespass him. Once the girl's mother was visiting her when that stupid appeared. The girl started to shake scared and told what happened to her mother. Her mom started a very memorable tirade against him calling names, insults and a couple of slaps. He never came to the market again. Moms are amazing.
The first story... I'm a smoker. I'll smoke where/when i want on my property. HOWEVER, If someone were to tell me they dont smoke, and they can smell it while they try to sleep, i'd try to respect them and relocate. BUT if they were rude right away, i might not move ALL NIGHT.

I was raised in the 50's and 60's when everyone and his mother smoked and I think they smoked a pack a day.I was allergic to this smoke along with burning wood. in the end I was sick most of my childhood. and I would be called into the office at school because I smelt like I was the one smoking up a storm. they thought I did not take a bath or do laundry. smoke cover all of your items in your house and the smell is always there.

I worked at a Sub (way) shop part time in HS. The strip mall ran horizontal to the road, every other store closed by 6, and I often worked closing alone. I gave cops in my area free subs when they came in, and they would pull in front of the store every hour or so at night. A Karen frequented right at closing, would eat half her sub she watched me make, and go off how it wasn’t made how she wanted & demanded her money back. A couple of the cops gave me their cell # for non-emergency stuff. I would bring their number up when she came in, so all I had to do was hit send. She was super extra one night, and honestly I was afraid. She was trying to get in the employee door to get back behind the line, I pressed send, and grabbed a knife. She was arrested, trespassed, and the sheriff told the owner to either have 2 ppl on shift or pay for a cop to sit on premises. Best and worst job I’ve ever had. I was fired and hired back 6x in 2.5yrs 🤣 Manager hated me, owner loved me.

I would let her spend the money and maybe even ask for copies of any and all embarrassing moments like being forced to pour out the booze, getting escorted off of property by security, etc.!!! When I smoked, I would go outside and not smoke in the house. I got chewed out for smoking outside too. The smoke was going into the upstairs window they said. I was on the patio on the other side of the house. I asked how far in to the 40 acres they wanted me to go so there’d be no chance that any smoke would be detectable. As someone with asthma myself there should be a way to compromise I think that op was right in their asking of the lady to smoke out front instead of the back if op is outside also what I don’t understand is why she isn’t smoking inside her own house.

Story #1: Put a window fan in your bedroom window set on high to blow the air into your neighbor's yard/garden.... this will allow air to come from the opposite side of the house (which will filter it somewhat) from the open windows there into your bedroom. I am a smoker myself but I do respect my neighbours. I only smoke on the balcony when the wind is not at their apartment. How hard can it be? They have never complained either.
As someone who has lived with smokers her entire life, they’re all entitled. I’ve watched my family have children with asthma, end up in the hospital, be told by the docs that the smoke will keep their kid sick (one had his lungs fail at 10 due to it) and they never stopped smoking bc (it’s my house and I can damn well smoke when and where I want). It doesn’t just affect your health, it affects everyone around you as well. This ain’t the same as decorating your place the way you want it etc. it doesn’t matter if it’s your property. Entitled AH if asked and you don’t move. Period.

I can't be around it because even the slightest amount gives me migraines. Imagine being trapped in your house because your jerk neighbor refuses to smoke on the other side of the house. In the US in some States you can be forced to not smoke in certain places if people with medical conditions could be exposed to it. Your rights end at the end of your body. Smoke travels well past that.

Story 4: This one also counts as pro in an overall sense since the Karen got arrested for trespassing, and that can lead to large fines and jail time.
I guess it's somewhat subjective, but anything that leads to an arrest has to be at least pro in my opinion. Story 3 seems to be more pro then petty as well.

Left handed bag is genius. This reminds me of the pranks people used to play on the newbies. My mum remembers a young man (16ish year old as was she - it was post war Scotland and people started working earlier) coming into the law office she was working at and saying that his bank needed more verbal agreement forms. She tried to explain to him that there was no such thing but he was insistent. She finally gave up and said they were out of them and to try another law firm across town. That, of course, was the entire point - to have the newbie spend a day walking all over town looking for something that didn't exist. Like sending an apprentice to get the pump to blow up the big bass drum for the pipe band and every garage would say it was somewhare else. Or the new carpenter apprentice who's sent down to the hardware store for a long weight, only to be told by the proprietor to sit down as it may take a while. I got one youngster when we had to unblock a sandblaster (easy) but I noticed that the large adjustable crescent wrench (the only one we had) had metric markings etched into it. I told him that we couldn't use that, go back to the shop and find an imperial one. By the time he had bothered evry other mechanic in the shop I had the thing cleared.

In this case the chain smoking of the Karen was totally understandable and legit until OP with Asthma came into the equation. At that point Karens chain smoking was endangering OP and technically in many states Karen could have been ordered by authorities to cease chain smoking in her backyard and thus in the vicinity of OP as that is a health hazard.
Karen can do with her body whatever she wants.
But she can *NOT* do with another persons body what she wants.

As someone who used to be insecure and a victim of bullying as a child, I know from personal experience, that the ones who bully you are often more insecure then you are and it's a way to make themselves feel better about themselves that they bully you. It still doesn't make it right, and it still hurts, but eventually you'll overcome it and move on.
I agree, but often it is extremely difficult to move on, but it is doable (especially if they more or less "become" what they were bullying you about).

I love those stories. Last one was a little disappointing, but it was good. I met with an old friend who told me about this anti-karen attack. My friend was at the managerial task at a mini market. A young woman (probably in her later teens) was the cashier and the target of a nasty idiotic male karen. That man always made fun of her ears to the point all of the staff tried to trespass him. Once the girl's mother was visiting her when that stupid appeared. The girl started to shake scared and told what happened to her mother. Her mom started a very memorable tirade against him calling names, insults and a couple of slaps. He never came to the market again. Moms are amazing.
The first story... I'm a smoker. I'll smoke where/when i want on my property. HOWEVER, If someone were to tell me they dont smoke, and they can smell it while they try to sleep, i'd try to respect them and relocate. BUT if they were rude right away, i might not move ALL NIGHT.

I was raised in the 50's and 60's when everyone and his mother smoked and I think they smoked a pack a day.I was allergic to this smoke along with burning wood. in the end I was sick most of my childhood. and I would be called into the office at school because I smelt like I was the one smoking up a storm. they thought I did not take a bath or do laundry. smoke cover all of your items in your house and the smell is always there.

Story one is not the Karen, She might be on her own property but she is negatively impacting everyone around her off her property and she's a jerk for it. Heck in my own neighborhood when on a walk and I have to Actually avoid an entire half block because there's a house where people smoke so bad I actually get physically ill from it. Those people are jerks too, and they're giving everyone around them cancer.
I worked at a Sub (way) shop part time in HS. The strip mall ran horizontal to the road, every other store closed by 6, and I often worked closing alone. I gave cops in my area free subs when they came in, and they would pull in front of the store every hour or so at night. A Karen frequented right at closing, would eat half her sub she watched me make, and go off how it wasn’t made how she wanted & demanded her money back. A couple of the cops gave me their cell # for non-emergency stuff. I would bring their number up when she came in, so all I had to do was hit send. She was super extra one night, and honestly I was afraid. She was trying to get in the employee door to get back behind the line, I pressed send, and grabbed a knife. She was arrested, trespassed, and the sheriff told the owner to either have 2 ppl on shift or pay for a cop to sit on premises. Best and worst job I’ve ever had. I was fired and hired back 6x in 2.5yrs 🤣 Manager hated me, owner loved me.

When I smoked, I would go outside and not smoke in the house. I got chewed out for smoking outside too. The smoke was going into the upstairs window they said. I was on the patio on the other side of the house. I asked how far in to the 40 acres they wanted me to go so there’d be no chance that any smoke would be detectable. That MIGHT work IF there's a window directly opposite the one in question but not every wall has windows or one in the exact position needed.

As someone who has lived with smokers her entire life, they’re all entitled. I’ve watched my family have children with asthma, end up in the hospital, be told by the docs that the smoke will keep their kid sick (one had his lungs fail at 10 due to it) and they never stopped smoking bc (it’s my house and I can damn well smoke when and where I want).
It doesn’t just affect your health, it affects everyone around you as well. This ain’t the same as decorating your place the way you want it etc. it doesn’t matter if it’s your property. Entitled AH if asked and you don’t move. Period.
How some people think that not wanting to struggle breathing, suffocate or be at risk of getting to that point because someone else doesn't have the common decency to smoke somewhere else is a mystery to me.

Op with smoky neighbor needs to buy or rent a large tall commercial stand fan. They really move some air! Every time Smoky the B, (not bear) comes out to smoke up the neighborhood, blow her away. That will keep the smoke out of op’s yard.
I have to equate this with every single patient who has stated that they are afraid to be "addicted to oxygen". The look on their face when I tell them in a whisper, that I'm also an addict! "I like about 21%, what do you like?"

As a smoker myself, I always make sure neighbor windows aren't open etc. I understand it smells and bothers people. I will move away from open windows or people hanging out in their space.
