This is the first video in which I felt your emotions... when you laughed at the notion of going to a A's game in Sacramento... and I don't blame you one bit!!! Brodie, I really appreciate that you cover the A's. I still love all the players, and despise the owners., and I'm always going to want to know what is going on and wishing the players the best
You and Casey are on to other things, as you should be. I followed the A’s for the 30 years I lived in Oakland and the East Bay, when I moved east in 2003 I still followed them as best I could, but now it’s goodbye to the Fishermen. If I ever get back to Oakland, you can count on me taking in a Ballers game.
You have been my main source of news about whats happening with the A's. As a Rays fan, it's been surreal seeing this team go down a similar path now. Im thankful for your coverage, though Im saddened this has happened to the team you love. But baseball is the sport of miracles. Cleveland got the Browns back. Its never over.
I feel lousy about the city of Oakland. It's just like Montreal, bring a team back to Oakland. The North Stars left Minnesota for Dallas years ago and I've never got over it. I still grieve but now I have a team in Utah now I need a team in MLB
I hear what you are saying Brodie. I have always believed in sticking with your chosen team through good time and bad, even really bad. There are few situations where it would be acceptable to change. As, of now the Oakland A's are gone, the A's are like a new franchise. We as fans get to decide what team we are going to follow going forward. Some will chose the new A's, some will chose the Giant's, others will chose one of the other 28 teams. I have been a Oakland A's fans since I was nine years old during the Bash brother run. I have not decided where to go next. NOT LA!
Your thumbnail got me!!! Well played.... An interesting conversation.... That would actually be an interesting series for you.... What does it look like, when Fans divorce their teams.....
I live in Michigan and if any of my historic franchises relocated, I'd be done with that sport. Cant imagine how hard it would be covering them for a living.
@Brodie Brazil - As an Expos fan, I can say that I stopped following the team when they relocated and became the Nationals. It's a new city, it's a new team and with that, sadly, new fans. You're a free agent, go enjoy the game for once without being tied down to a team.
I think you can continue to follow and cover certain teams, but you have to go forward knowing it's not always going to be positive as sometimes the news is negative.
Hey Brodie … I can see where you’re coming from. I saw an interview with Dallas Braden, he to is uncertain about his future. But he was clearly excited about the players. It’s hard to let go… Even though I am a hard-core, Giants fan, and wouldn’t drive to Sacramento to see a game, I will be looking in on the A’s. If those players rise up and overcome all the noise surrounding them… Anyway, you slice it it’s an interesting story. How MLB allowed this to happen is unforgivable. But it’s about Players, Brodie I’d like to see you continue, your commentary is insightful.
If all the MLB owners backed Fishers poor ownership, by not questioning what he was doing with all the profit sharing money, why do you think they would force him to sell? How do you make him sell? If a whole region couldn't get him to sell to multiple Billionaires, (for a profit) how is anyone going to get him to sell now?
It’s not just being done with the A’s I’m done with MLB. Saw my first game at Wrigley in 1958. Saw my first A’s game in 1968. Went through the Finley debacle. At least MLB stepped up back then. Final game of 1980 against the Orioles, who were a powerhouse that year it was announced Finley had sold the A’s to the Haas family. Maybe 10K fans there who were deliriously happy. 1980 was the first year of Billy Ball. In the final at bat Dwayne Murphy put down a suicide squeeze bunt to drive in the winning run. The crowd was on their feet for 20-30 minutes until the players came out of the clubhouse for a curtain call and celebration. I can still recall an exuberant Tony Armas run around the outfield high fiving all the fans. 44 years later, still my favorite sports thrill. Miracles can, and have happened in Oakland. No sense in giving up now.
I respect both opinions but have to respectfully disagree. This is still the same baseball team and franchise. They represent more than just Oakland. John Fischer will not be owner forever. I personally will support anyone that plays for the green & gold and wears “A’s” on their hat.
So, I obviously have a different perspective as an A's fan who has relocated from the Bay multiple times, but I have been through the harsh reality of not being able to watch my team even when it didn't make sense as to why (like when I was living in Vegas and locally we could watch Dodgers or Angels games but for some reason Bay Area teams were also blacked out...for the record, I'm going through that in Arizona where since the Coyotes relocation, not only are Utah games blacked out on ESPN+, but so are Vegas games, meaning I miss 6 or so Sharks games per season now). Anyway, in the video you reference divorce and how you don't just go out to dinner with your ex after that happens, but as a child of divorce, let me propose a different viewpoint. The way I look at sports teams is that they are the children of a joint custody relationship where the ownership group and the fans are the two parties with custody. Much as you wouldn't cut all ties to your child because your spouse opted for divorce, you also shouldn't (theoretically) cut ties to your team and its players just because the owner is a clown. I understand not wanting to give him money (though even in divorce, alimony is paid in part to still be able to see your child), but at the end of the day, should we be punishing the team that has given us amazing memories or the players trying to make new memories for us just because our ex is a clown? Food for thought. I don't expect to sway any die-hard A's fans in my direction, I just thought that though I thought your comparison to a divorce was apt, the reality of how that divorce works wasn't necessarily. Keep in mind too that in divorce there is generally a threat of moving away and a lot of times it settles into staying in the area so the kids have both parents around, so like was said in the video, until the shovel hits the dirt (and maybe even after that if a white knight can ride in and buy the team and work something out in the Bay while letting Vegas get an expansion team like they probably should) there should always be hope that our ex has second thoughts about leaving entirely, and at least tries to stay around for the kids.
Come to the blue side and we will defer your fandom, lol. JK man, wish it wasn’t like this for your fan base. Hoping for a Hail mary for you guys (some billionaire makes an offer while they are in Sacramento and takes them back to Oakland with a brand new stadium)!
The Athletes are still in California in Sacramento which is within driving distance of Oakland. Still the way the Athletes left Oakland has the fans not wanting to drive to Sacramento. The Athletes might end up staying in Sacramento if the stadium deal in Las Vegas falls apart.
Explain why the Raiders came back, then. The Raiders left the second time for Las Vegas, not Los Angeles. You'd think they would have returned to LA (biggest market in America) if they were going to leave Oakland again, or at least relocate to a bigger market than Las Vegas. These rich team owners just do what they want, and they make regular tax payers foot the bill.
@@mcg1119 The Raiders were supposed to move back to LA, but Kronke (and Jerry Jones) had other plans. Looking back, the Raiders and the Rams should've moved back to LA, and have the Chargers either stay in San Diego or move to Vegas instead. The Raiders and Rams being in LA just made more sense, even though yes, the Raiders have nice new digs in Vegas and are the only NFL team in that market and they don't have to worry about sharing the market with another team, even though their home field advantage is gone. Yeah, the Rams didn't want the Raiders to overshadow the fanbase they were trying to re-establish in LA in the Rams move back to LA, but it's been proven time and time again, that LA is more of a Raiders town for NFL. The Raiders have more of a homefield advantage when they play the Chargers in LA, as opposed to when the Raiders play home games in Vegas. LOL. If that idea would've been a no go for the NFL, then maybe you still have the Raiders and Chargers move to LA as originally planned, and then have the Rams either stay in St. Louis or move to Vegas. If it was up to me, I would have the Raiders and Rams in LA, the Chargers in San Diego, and maybe Vegas gets an expansion team or a team like the Jaguars who don't have much history, move there instead. But yes, the Raiders were originally planning to move back to LA. When that plan was shot down, they looked to Vegas.
The A’s left you, Brodie, so it’s understandable you’ve moved on. Ultimately, it’s just business. That fans think you would entertain going to a game in Sacramento speaks to the passion with which you covered the team all those years. Viewers lived vicariously through your reporting and thought of you as one of them. Love that you’ve pivoted to covering the sports industrial complex. A proverbial lemons-to-lemonade story. Pls consider a story ideas: An interview with a sports economist who can talk about the future of the pro-sports-venue industry. Is there a new crop of up-and-coming cities trying to enter the fray along with Portland/SLC/Nashville? What is the connection between the changing TV/cable/streaming model, player salaries, and stadiums? Is the SF Giants stadium a timeless structure that fans will still attend 50 to 100 years from now, like Wrigley, Fenway, or Dodgers Stadium? What makes a stadium timeless, and can we build those anymore? Or are we trapped in a loop where sports structures are like carnival rides that lose their luster quickly with fans and their revenue potential for owners? What’s the industry standard for the business shelf life of a $1 billion to $2 billion pro sports stadium or arena? Your coverage of the Modesto situation has been terrific. What’s the overall health of minor league baseball in CA? Is Modesto an outlier of part of a trend? (I’m reminded of how Walmart realigned the California grocery industry when it brought superstores to the state. Feels like that’s what is happening with MiLB.) How about an end-of-year retrospective on news that you didn’t see coming/biggest surprises? Or a look-ahead piece about things to anticipate in 2025 (which would give you a got it right / got it wrong video in 12 months}. Keep up the good work, BB!
Hey Brodie, I'm not sure if you can answer this question, but does Casey still have access to his TH-cam channel? I'm not sure if it was actually his or if it was attached to his employment at ABC 7?
I didn’t even have to watch the video to know the answer is yes. Been an A’s fan my whole life. You have been as well. I know how much you love the A’s. Brody isn’t going anywhere! Neither am I. Raised in the Sacramento Valley as an A’s fan. Gonna die as one! Fisher can’t own the team forever! He can never hate the team as much as I love it! A’s for life!
Yea Thas a tough one..Love the A’s bt the ownership is what’s killing it for me 🤷🏻♂️ love that Mac Dre bobble head in tha background also 🫡🙏🏼👌🏼🔥🔥🔥🐘⚾️🦈🏒
Brodie, my question is why does the A's social media platforms and A's cast live does not allow fans to comment on their Facebook, Instagram, X etc? Very strange to me .
I live in Orange County so the A's moving to Las Vegas actually makes it easier for me to attend their games. I look at the big picture and realize that this franchise has moved twice before. The Athletics have always been a vagabond franchise (sort of like the Raiders tbh). Its part of their historical identity. You just have to learn how to detach yourself from geographic location. Are you rooting for a team or city? Personally, I am rooting for a team. The city of Oakland is the victim of its own bad governance. The idea of jumping ship to the Giants or Angels is a non-starter for me. No way in hell will I EVER root for another team. Keep in mind that John Fischer will not be the owner forever. Owners come and go. Some are better than others. Its just the experience of being a fan. GO A'S!
The team part hits home for me. I live in Jersey but I'd rather die than become a Yankees or Phillies fan and for personal reasons as well as what I've seen in games and team identity, I'm one of 5 Orioles fans here!
Can't say I blame you... though if offered a job, Nevada is a state without personal income taxes so you'd be in effect getting a raise.. but HOME has a draw that's special... I moved away from home and there is still a part of me back there... until this time of year.. when I was a bills game in a snowstorm (like a few weeks ago).. my jobs have moved me to Phoenix now... I don't miss snow... and buffalo area snow.. measured in feet not inches..... I may go back to denver.. they still get snow.. but nowhere like Buffalo where I grew up. Still, sometimes it's good to get away... you don't know what's out there until you have to.
The way I see it - I was a fan of the OAKLAND Athletics and there's no such team anymore. Nothing against the players on the new Athletics team, but I'm not a fan of a team in Sacramento or Las Vegas. I actually can't stand Las Vegas, probably my least favorite city.
I keep seeing this idea that if calmer heads would get togeather even now this whole mess could get resolved, idea! when are people going to see that John Fisher doesn't want to leave the A's name or likeness in Oakland, He doesn't want to talk about Oakand anymore. The "Oakland Athletics" are dead. If the deal falls through in Las Vegas, Sacramento now has the next best shot at keeping the team in California. I agree with Brodie and Casey, once the team left for Sacramento, they were dead to me. In my view, going to see the A's in Sacramento or Vegas is supporting John Fisher and MLB decision to leave Oakland. Funny thing is, the meeting to complete the planning of Howard Terminal (which was 98% complete!) was just 5 day after the announcement that Fisher had agreed to a binding deal to buy the wild, wild, west property in Vegas. If the city would have found common ground with Fisher, the Stadium would be at least 50% done on the Howard Terminal site! here's hoping Fisher has more problems...
I think the A’s will be more loved in Sac vs. Vegas. Time will tell. Your attitude is why they are (and the raiders and, and, and…)bolting from Oakland pit.
Though I followed the team from 1973 thru 2022 (and was even a moderator on AthleticsNation), I'm now done with the A's. I'm taking a break from MLB. I've lived away from the Bay Area for decades. If somehow the team ends up back in Oakland, I'll come back to rooting for them. Otherwise, I'll reconsider when I make a planned move away from here in Oklahoma in four or five years. Depending on where I end up going, I may adopt my local(ish) team. Otherwise, I have plenty of other sports to follow.
As a Coyotes fan I still feel.. confused if I should follow Utah. I am still hurt. Winnipeg fans were hurt when the Jets moved. Some of them kept following the team. If they can do it, I think I can do it. It's still heartbreaking. The A's were my first favorite team as a kid before we got the Dbacks here.
Yeah I tried to make a switch to the Giants, but after being so invested in one team (A's) my entire life, I just found it really difficult to stay interested. I'm surprised after having loved the A's and baseball (because of the A's and my son playing), I could care less about it now
It’s quite okay to no longer root for the team, but still like the players, hope they have personal and professional success. As I’ve stated before, for them, it’s as though we’ve seen them traded to another team in another city; they weren’t free agents who signed with our arch rival. Essentially, Fisher has traded Oakland players and the team to another city, but didn’t get anything back in exchange, not even a ‘team to be named later’. As happened when Modell uprooted the Browns players and coaches for Baltimore. There are 26 other baseball teams as of now still left to root for. Not the Athletics, who moved away. Nor the Giants, who on occasion helped the Athletics move away. Nor the Dodgers and Angels, who play for the Bay Area’s arch rival. If you still care about baseball, there are lots of other teams to root for at the MLB level. Maybe you can try Japanese baseball, though they are literally an ocean away. Or you can follow independent ball, since the Ballers are around now.
Well I’ve been attending Cal and Stanford baseball games for years. Much more fun to visit campuses and see the game played without the other fluff. PS - NCAA regionals are fantastic!
The press should cover them like a minor league team in a minor league stadium. Page 5 of the local sports and maybe a mention once or twice a week on the local news “sports” broadcasts…
I've heard MLB these days compared to BOTH WWE and beer league softball. That is spot on. Look people- it is what it is. MLB is at its lowest point ever. Period. The league is washed and the fact of the matter is for a sports league like MLB to goes out and blackball future HOF- and noted Dodgers assassin- Evan Longoria, is very likely on its last legs. The way I see it the future of baseball is on the global stage so get a passport y'all. KBO > MLB Japan > MLB Dominican Winter League > MLB NCAA D-1 > MLB Mexican Baseball > MLB
Now the A's have picked up 2 good starting pitchers in Luis Severino and Jeffrey Springs. Will they now go get a bat? Anyone up for playoff games at Sutter Health Park? 😂
The Coliseum is being converted for soccer. There is no place in Oakland for the A’s anyway. And the non-relocation agreement between the A’s and Clark County has been signed so in other words, there is nothing to talk about that concerns Oakland. The Athletics are legally bound to Vegas until 2058.
Brodie, you seriously need to get a life. Come on dude, you ARE truly beating a dead horse. With multiple wars and so much real problems in the world, you really are coming across as the typical “arrogant stereo-type Bay Area person” that everyone outside the Bay Area hates. Just let it go. You are good at what you do, bro, but stop beating that A’s drum. They aren’t coming back and the East Bay isn’t going to get another MLB franchise for a very long time. Most of us have accepted it already, you need to too.
I have no intention of following A's baseball as long as Fisher owns the team. I don't care where they play, having been a fan for 50 years they aren't the same team I grew up loving. That being said, go touch some grass dude. If he wants to cover the A's that fine. It's his JOB ffs. If he wants to continue to advocate for them, that's fine too. I won't watch those since I have very little interest in the team, but I'm not gonna throw shade at a guy that's just doing his job. Take a breath. With all the "problems" in the world why you wanna be another one?

Im thankful for your coverage, though Im saddened this has happened to the team you love. But baseball is the sport of miracles. Cleveland got the Browns back. Its never over.
I feel lousy about the city of Oakland. It's just like Montreal, bring a team back to Oakland. The North Stars left Minnesota for Dallas years ago and I've never got over it. I still grieve but now I have a team in Utah now I need a team in MLB
Mate, if everyone left your city, that says more about the city itself than the clubs that left
Better chance of the A's relocating to SLC then going back to Oakland.
@@karnubawax Do Mormons allow things like baseball? Aren't they essentially the American Taliban?
But it’s about Players,
Brodie I’d like to see you continue, your commentary is insightful.
Where did u get that art cat painting in the back
1:30 I get those comments on other A’s stuff too!
How available will tickets be in Sacramento? I'm still not expecting much support for the A's from Oakland in Sacramento, even for weekend games.
Make Fisher sell the team.
Make Fischer play in Puerto Rico until Vegas is ready.
I was an Oakland A's fanatic and employee for years...they chose to leave so now I'm a free agent
Oakland lost 4 Major League Teams. There is a pattern. I don’t blame the ownerships.
Explain why the Raiders came back, then. The Raiders left the second time for Las
Vegas, not Los Angeles.
Pls consider a story ideas:
An interview with a sports economist who can talk about the future of the pro-sports-venue industry.
Feels like that’s what is happening with MiLB.)
How about an end-of-year retrospective on news that you didn’t see coming/biggest surprises? Or a look-ahead piece about things to anticipate in 2025 (which would give you a got it right / got it wrong video in 12 months}.
Keep up the good work, BB!
Just give the news on the 49ers, Warriors, and Giants. And an array of other topics.
Yea Thas a tough one..Love the A’s bt the ownership is what’s killing it for me 🤷🏻♂️ love that Mac Dre bobble head in tha background also 🫡🙏🏼👌🏼🔥🔥🔥🐘⚾️🦈🏒
Say something about the SFGIANTS, the last thing I heard Corbin Burns is on the 1 inch line with signing with the SFGIANTS!!!
Brodie, my question is why does the A's social media platforms and A's cast live does not allow fans to comment on their Facebook, Instagram, X etc? Very strange to me .
The A's don't want the smoke. LOL. They know that all of the comments will be negative
As a lifelong Oakland A's fan I will still follow them to Vegas , just like my Raiders! Just won't be the same. #FJF #sell2Lacob
I think the A’s will be more loved in Sac vs. Vegas. Time will tell. Your attitude is why they are (and the raiders and, and, and…)bolting from Oakland pit.
If you are a good parent you never reward bad behavior or the consequences are your own fault. I’m done with the A’s after 50 years a fan.
It is more likely that OKC will get an expansion team before the A's (or anyone else) return to Oakland. Neither one will happen.
@@karnubawaxNot even likely that OKC will ever get a team in Major League Baseball, the Thunder are the only game in town
@@michaelleroy9281 Totally agree with you both about the likelihood of expansion to Oakland...or to OKC, for whatever it's worth.
I Agree With Both Of You.......''NOT INTERESTED''
As a Coyotes fan I still feel.. confused if I should follow Utah. I am still hurt. Winnipeg fans were hurt when the Jets moved. Some of them kept following the team.
If they can do it, I think I can do it. It's still heartbreaking. The A's were my first favorite team as a kid before we got the Dbacks here.
That s big mistake American sport sold team to another city that must stop
No requirement to follow Utah. It's like starting over. You can choose who to follow.
@@Nay-kp6uu coyotes is now Utah
Im over baseball. Its not fun to watch any longer.
Yeah I tried to make a switch to the Giants, but after being so invested in one team (A's) my entire life, I just found it really difficult to stay interested. I'm surprised after having loved the A's and baseball (because of the A's and my son playing), I could care less about it now
Yeah, over football too. Don’t care anymore
I you really loved the A's and the players like you said, why would you not even watch a game anymore? Makes no sense.
The A's don't want you around, like the Brooklyn writers covering the LA Dodgers.
Seriously why do yall want a team in a city that’s going bankrupt????
Really, Oakland is in no position to allocate funds for a stadium.
@7:12... someone had nachos last night.
Yup... not good mic placement.
Bring as back to Oakland
When the Sonics left Seattle I stopped following the NBA.
Y’all see how empty Chase Center looks vs The Mavs?
Ya you will who's kidding who? You're addicted!
The A's are not finished... but Oakland is.
I would think so since it gets you views/likes/clicks and you're not a moron
You guys could have wrapped that up in a minute and just said your problem is with the team not the city
Well I’ve been attending Cal and Stanford baseball games for years. Much more fun to visit campuses and see the game played without the other fluff.
PS - NCAA regionals are fantastic!
Brodie
The press should cover them like a minor league team in a minor league stadium. Page 5 of the local sports and maybe a mention once or twice a week on the local news “sports” broadcasts…
Not only did I walk away from the A’s, I stopped following MLB all together.
Shovels in the ground are you serious? These are Billionaires you are talking about not two crybabies on TH-cam 😂😂
White Sox to Indianapolis
YES!

Now the A's have picked up 2 good starting pitchers in Luis Severino and Jeffrey Springs. Will they now go get a bat? Anyone up for playoff games at Sutter Health Park? 😂
Sacramento is a great place to live, Las Vegas is not.
I don't blame the A's. Have you seen Oakland?
Yet teams have stayed in some other cities like Detroit and St. Louis.
@@JonathanNielsen-n5k Detroit and St. Louis are actually getting better. Oakland is only getting worse.
@@karnubawax Yes, true.
Start contacting teams. If you don't have a stadium, you don't have a team. Send the Ray's to Chicago and the As to Colorado.
Sacramento won't work.
Go Dodgers 🧢⚾💪🏼
