Hi Judge. I restarted my bourbon journey in December 2022. I am going back through older episodes and ran across this one. Great choices. You mentioned that 1792 BIB is easy to find. I have never seen it on shelf, except for secondary prices. The 1792 Small Batch is easy to find. Instead of Pikesville, my first rye was Old Forester 100 proof rye. Other great beginner bourbons, if you can find them, are Evan Williams 1783, Buffalo Trace and Early Times BIB.
Love your channel your honor! Gotta say your list needs a bottle of Buffalo Trace. Easy enough to find representative of a great distillery. Glad to see you add an Old Forester. The Bottled in Bond would've gotten my vote but the 1910 is just fine.
Great list sir...honestly can't disagree with anyone of those. Russell's definitely a must have, an absolute delicious pour...but there's not a bad one there.
Hey Judge! I found your channel earlier this year, subscribed, and have finally finished watching all the past episodes from #1. You regularly talk about your Infinity Bottle, but we have never seen it. Please consider doing an episode introducing the Infinity concept to us - What is it? What whiskies are in it? Do you follow any rules or guidelines? When do you drink from it? Etc. Thanks for your fun and informative channel. Keep up the good work!
First thank you for watching all videos. Much appreciated on so many levels. Next you are spot on I will do a review soon about the infinity bottle. What goes in, how much, beginning or end of the bottle, who do I share it with etc.. appreciate you!!
My man, great content as always. As my bourbon journey continues I like to look back at these beginner videos. I'm still partial to several of these picks several years in. Especially the OF 1910...simply delicious. Puts bottles 2x the price to shame.
Excellent list. I have most in my collection, and alternate expressions of those I do not have. (Strongly recommend Maker's 101, other Wild Turkey expressions including 101 and Rare Breed, any of the other Old Forester Whiskey Row expressions, and any other 1792 expressions.) Trying to guess what was coming up next as I watched the video, I realized that a list of 10 is probably too small. Other great options for starting a good bourbon collection include Eagle Rare, Bulleitt (10 year or Blender's Select), Evan Williams Single Barrel, Woodinville, and Angel's Envy. If you move slightly away from strictly bourbon, Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, Redwood Empire Lost Monarch, Michter's American or Sour Mash and George Dickel Bottled in Bond are good options. You could also have a separate list of ryes to build a collection on.
Thanks for the list! I'm a beginner in Alabama. Heck, I just need to hit the bourbon trail in KY. 😝 Edit: told hubby about your list. He said, "Pack up, we're going!"
@@frankd.506 Clyde May’s is actually distilled and bottled in Indiana. John Emerald and Dettling are distilled and bottled in Alabama, and I believe those are the only two.
@@chrispatterson5957 The official spirit of Alabama is not distilled in Troy Alabama? I'm ok with sourcing but when it's the official spirit of your state that don't seem right, but thanks for the heads up, I read my bottles close but my memory is only good for about 10 minutes 😬
Judge great list! I’m still rather new to bourbon, have a 75 bottle collection and just so happens I have everyone of these! Recently bought the Starlight Sherry finish and double oak, really good!
75 bottles for a newbie is pretty awesome, Ive been drinking Bourbon for 42 years and I have maybe only just over 100 bottles for two reasons, if I'm in love I'll buy anywhere between 3 to a case, the other reason is because I love Bourbon there for I find my collection getting smaller as I add to it lol
Haven't tried the Pikesville yet. That Knob Creek 9 might be my favorite whiskey. Not a Michters fan and I can only do Four Roses every blue moon - same with Woodford. I'd do the Makers 101 over the Makers 46. On board with all the others. OGD 114 is excellent bang for the buck. I know this video was from a while ago - not sure if your picks might change at all in present day. I'd have included Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey 101, Evan Williams 1783 probably. I need to check out that rye, but there are a few of those I really like - Masterson's is probably my favorite, never had a bad Whistlepig either. Plenty of good ones under $40 as well.
Thanks Judge, I'm new to bourbon and to your channel and am enjoying both. Surprisingly, I had started my collection with 7 of your 10 selections plus OF-1910, which is my favorite. Haven't tried them all yet, but looking forward to trying each and every one. Loved this episode.
Bourbon judge you never disappoint love them all. I will say OGD 114 is getting a little harder to find. Enjoyed a bit of 1910 last night along with a milky way left over from Halloween 🎃
Alright Bourbon Judge, from the start of this video, I thought you would certainly leave off O.F. 1910, but you came through in the clutch! 🤣 I agree with the RR Single Barrel coming off a little hot, which is why I would replace it with Russels 10yr, as a starter. It delivers a lot more than it's 90 proof would suggest. This was my gateway, and is always a staple of mine.
Bought a small bottle of Maker's Mark 46 yesterday to try out & for some reason I woke up this morning with a slight headache... 🤔🤔😬😬 Drank it neat and it was a smooth and delicious bourbon! I'll be definitely purchasing the large bottle!
Great list, ill throw out some others that could blend in the same vein & mix it up a tad: Smoke Wagon Small Batch New Riff BIB Eagle Rare Coopers Craft 100 1920 Wild Turkey 101 Rare Breed Four Roses Single Barrel Makers Mark Cask Strength Angels Envy Redwood Empire Lost Monarch (Bourye)* Sagamore Double Oaked (Rye)*
You had me going there! No Old Forester until the * hits! Personally I'd put 1910 and or 1920 above all but the Makers Mark, Knob Creek and Elijah Craig. Since you had some higher proof stuff a Wild Turkey product like Rare Breed would have made the list for sure. Great starter list for sure!
Great show! I agree with your choices and I have all of them. I have about 190 bottles of Bourbon and Rye, and my most recent excellent pour is Blackend and Willett Rye.

That Cody Road has a limited aged in Armagnac barrels Bourbon that I absolutely adored, a friend texted me a pic of his find from one of the big shops and I said please get me one I'm sure it won't last, he did and it was the last one, but to Mr. Judge or anyone lucky enough to be in their limited delivery area I'd say get it quick, keep up the great work brother.
Frank D - always good to see your comment. That 1792 is a sleeper for sure. Sub $30 bottle of goodness. And easy to find which is like gold these days. Cheers sir
Good choices. I think some of the higher proofs are going to be challenging for some beginners, but these are all solid picks. You can always add water or ice if it's too hot though, like you mentioned. I probably would have included Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey 101, Larceny, and Woodinville as well.
Buffalo is a wonderful entry but definitely hard to find here in SC. I work at a shop part time so I always have a BT on me and I always end up going back to it. It's sweet, low proof, and priced wonderfully. I also enjoy a WT 101 and after almost getting through a four roses single barrel I would have to say the two are extremely comparable. Haven't tried the woodinville or larceny yet but we do sell a bit of larceny. The woodinville honestly doesn't ever move.
Newer to bourban, on my journey, (scotch/kraft beer guy), Have 7 of 11 on your list, #1 so far under $60 was russells 10 , blown away 😆, KC 100/120 was #2 & woodford close behind, WT 101 is my daily drinker, Best $30 bourban by far, but ready to get into OF whiskey row next, geeked to try the 1910/1920 (1910 not as available in Michigan, 1792 been out for 6 months), Get the sense im going to be a wild turkey & OF fan boy soon…. Jackie Zyban from OF is a hoot!
If you ever come across a micro distillery from Petaluma California called moylans, grab some. They have a cask rye that is outta this world and they're bourbon is excellent at 114.
Spot on list, BJ. I have most of them. Need the Pikesville. (Have OF Rye 100pr and High West Dbl rye which are both great and easy to find entry levels). OF 1910 is on the list too (have and love the 1920.....who doesn't? : ) Maybe I'd include a BiB like Evan W since it's such a popular category. Cheers!
Man! I must have a bad batch of Michter’s bourbon. I LOVE their SB rye and American Whiskey…but my bottle lost (dead last out of 9) for all three of us doing a blind tasting (most others were cheaper too). Gotta try a new bottle.
Good episode. I can't disagree with any of your picks, especially for someone new to bourbon. What made you choose the OF 1910 over the 1920 as your asterisk?
Thanks Toni. Great question! I went with 1910 because I think overall it sips easier especially if your newer to bourbon. Even though I love the 1920, I still think 1910 I can sip more throughout the yr.
I’m in the uk 🇬🇧 and I’m trying to decide between a bottle of ELIJAH CRAIG SINGLE BARREL 18 YEAR OLD or a bottle of BLANTONS GOLD EDITION what are your thoughts on these?
Great choices! Can't argue with any one of them. If I got stuck just drinking one of them while out, I'd be more than fine. I might've thrown in a double asterisk and included an MGP bourbon.
Good list Judge but the Buffalo Trace people are going to be mad at you. I would sub in Eagle Rare for the 114 since it’s a little closer to KC but I know that could be hard to find for some.
Very solid list except for the OGD114. On the palate, I get nothing but tobacco, leather, peanuts and kerosene. Nasty stuff. And what happened to your gold 1792 cap??
Tre Gotti here Bourbon Judge. I had my finger on the unsubscribe button had you not said anything from Old Forester! Having said that, I feel like if I was new to bourbon, I'd swear all good bourbon only comes out of Kentucky! How about a list of non Kentucky bourbons. Cmon Judge , it's the 4th quarter, 2 minutes on the clock with no timeouts. Make it happen!
Interesting price differences. I can hardly find Pikesville around and when I do it's $60-$65. I'd have to put its little brother Rittenhouse on the list. And Elijah Craig Small Batch at $40. It would never sell here. I can buy that for $29 at more than one store. Still all solid choices, no stinkers in the bunch.
That's cool. Everyone that's into Bourbon needs to try a Rye just to see. Personally I like Rye just as well as Bourbon. Depends on the mood. My go to Rye is either Rittenhouse Rye for mixing or Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye straight up.
You’d be buck naked and never take another med if you knew of what companies have contributed to poly(many)tics(blood sucking insects) This is why man created whisky. 🥃 cheers
Funny, I always passed on Old Forrester 1910. I will now get some. Thank you!
Go for it Rob. Salute

Aye. I see you buy at krestons! 👍
Haha yes sir
I agree that rye needs to be in every collection..
But does a rye belong on a bourbon list?
Agreed!
Gotta throw in at least one. 🥃😂
Good list Judge but the Buffalo Trace people are going to be mad at you. I would sub in Eagle Rare for the 114 since it’s a little closer to KC but I know that could be hard to find for some.
😂🥃yeah BT might be mad, they just need to make their stuff more readily available.
Very solid list except for the OGD114. On the palate, I get nothing but tobacco, leather, peanuts and kerosene. Nasty stuff. And what happened to your gold 1792 cap??
Good eye- wow. The original cap broke one day. Had to replace it. I guess I use the bottle too much. Lol
Bourbon Judge, how can i join your bourbon club? Im about 2 hours away.
Hit me up via email.
@@BourbonJudge will do!
Would add Evan Williams to the list
Indeed
Maker's 90 proof and cask strength
Nobody could be mad at this list. You don't have to Hunt. The hardest in my area is 1792 but still can find it.
Absolutely Czr - love easy to find and good bourbon.
@@BourbonJudge this past weekend, I destroyed half a bottle of evan Williams B&B. During the Canelo fight. Paid for it on Sunday though. 🤣
3for 11😂 have ECBP C921
And Four Roses SBBS
And the *1910
Nice!!!!! 3 great ones too.
I can’t find any 1792 anywhere around me, which has made me sad.
Darn..
I like it- I can make that happen lol.
@@BourbonJudge I knew u would Judge. Looking forward to the video!
Surprised Old Forester made it by a hair.
Always have to include OF. Even at the end 😂.
So true prices vary drastically by states. Cheers
👍👍👍
🙏🏿🥃
Great list, but in my opinion Rye's are terrible... all Bourbon here my friend!
That's cool. Everyone that's into Bourbon needs to try a Rye just to see. Personally I like Rye just as well as Bourbon. Depends on the mood. My go to Rye is either Rittenhouse Rye for mixing or Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye straight up.
Understood Buddha. This is a great crossover Rye though.
I stopped wearing my under armor after learning the company was a major contributor to 45s campaign.
Still living rent free in some peoples minds. Drink some bourbon and let it go. We can all agree this is a great list!
Yeah just focusing on bourbon 🥃 on the channel and an occasional football joke on my Raiders. Cheers all.
You’d be buck naked and never take another med if you knew of what companies have contributed to poly(many)tics(blood sucking insects)
This is why man created whisky. 🥃 cheers
Now I have a reason to buy under armor and support this channel.
