  • This Filipino soup definitely is not common at local eateries in the Philippines...
    Have you ever tried Carabao Soup? How about Carabao Blood Soup? Yes, it is a rare soup that can be found sometimes in different areas of the Philippines! While exploring Dapitan City one morning, I pulled up to a local carinderia...
    And there it was!! Two types of carabao soup!
    Yes, you can get permits for cooking carabao here in the Philippines. Yes, you can eat carabao soup... which is actually really good!
    And yes, I would order it again!
    I may be a foreigner, but I really do love going local here when it comes to eating in the Philippines!
    Rare and Delicious Soup For The Win!
    POWER ON!

    In my hometown burauen, leyte we called that dish "lomo" it's a soup dish and the main ingredients of this dish is the carabao meat and blood but we usually put towgue, pechay or miki.

    Here in my hometown Norzagaray, Bulacan we call it "Tinumis na Kalabaw". There's also a pork version but my relatives prefer the carabao meat version. Tinumis is sour just like dinuguan but we use sampalok as a souring agent. Tinumis also has vegetables like sitaw, pechay tagalog, green papaya.
    Thanks for sharing! I would never know the cuisine existed somewhere else if you did not find it in your trips 😊

    You know what Kulas? Carabao meat is so good, it's sometimes called Carabeef. But frankly speaking, there is a Philippine Law prohibiting the killing of the National Animal, the Carabao, the Philippines Beast of Burden, but some Government Officials, especially in the Provinces just condone it's slaughter because they too love to eat it.

    • @BecomingFilipino
      @BecomingFilipino  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get permits for them. Old carabaos supposedly can be slaughtered sometimes.

    • @chattcedric6321
      @chattcedric6321 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Permits are the best excuses to evade the Law and are given by the Local Officials. Besides those Permits are for the Old Carabaos who can no longer work in the fields. But, the truth is, even the young ones are slaughtered especially during fiestas. Remember, in that Carenderia you visited, they have the Carabao meat prepared everyday. Does it mean they have old carabao always ready for slaughter? Everyday or every week? Am not bashing you Kulas, in fact am one of your long time subscriber. Am just not condoning their practice. Many provinces are no longer practicing it.
