See the karate many of you are used to seeing is sports karate where they are watered down. You need to look up Okinawan Karate styles and you will see a lot of grappling, striking, ground work and such. Also Kyokushin Karate has low kicks and is in heavy favor of them. And has a heavy conditioning method than most styles do. Karate was made mostly for self-defense. But this guy in the video has at least a Kyokushin Karate mixed with maybe other traditional karate styles. Not sure which but Karate has ALWAYS had grappling and ground fighting. Again do more research on Okinawan Karate.
This was not an MMA fight. I've watched many videos of Okinawa karate and the so called Kyokushin Karate and neither really showed much difference to other karate. This dude did better than the other dude in this kick boxing match.

If u see mma boxers r very aggressive and just jump in throwing punches. The karate guy is more peaceful and punches or kicks then goes behind. That is not the style of the individual but the way the martial art is.

This karate guy is using modern form and shows the use of muy tai and kickboxing. This is not plain karate In karate they never taught us any grappling making it a huge disadvantage to jujitsu or wrestling. The karate guy there shows proper blocking keeping his hands in and up whereas traditional karate fighters would keep their hands by their hips or outwards I know this because I was a brown belt that switched to MMA, a pro trained MMA fighter would beat a black belt any day

I appreciate the amount of energy it takes to show this level of karate. It didn't take long for karate guy to be spent, but it was completely to his benefit. Those hits don't look as hard as they are. From my very limited knowledge it looks like he used techniques from kyukoshin, not that faffing about shotokan.

Well if you want to enter an MMA tournament, of course you'll need to master a secondary art which is grappling for strikers. But as a striking art, karate has been proven to be good and effective enough in the ring. Many would bring out lyoto machida as the example, but chinzo machida is a better example of a JKA Shotokan karateka in the ring. His karate form in the ring is purer than lyoto.

The thing with Karate DO, specially Okinawa KArate do and Kyokushin is they train you to withstand a lot of pain, you gain lots of endurance and self-control which I see this lacking in MMA. In my opinion MMA fighters lose control really fast and get very emotional which can cause to lose control and get enraged faster, which it plays great for KArate fighters who are trained to endure a lot of pain.
Sorry but that guy is not an mma fighter. First off its clear "mma guy" had no clue on what he was doing his whole body was way to stiff. The karate guy realised right from the start that the other guy had no real experience and barely any training he took control early on and set the pace for the match so mad respect to him and his style.
Karate fighter’s a fuckin beast, awesome job. MMA fighter needs to pick those hands up, three nearly consecutive head kicks should not be landing on you. There are no takedowns, so there’s no reason to have a low guard since you won’t need to sprawl.
The most important is timing..That MMA guy is not using his Muay Thai striking techniques And Jiujitsu..For me MMA is effective when it comes to real fight with rules or without rules..Always use ur guard to cover ur face and body..

I could only assume he must be a grappler. MMA vs karate 9 /10 MMA Wil win. You can even tell by the cage and organization that the quality of fighters ain't that great

People in the comments don’t understand that it is Japan. Tournaments like this are very popular, it’s not „vs match”. Both of them are MMA players and both of them might be karatekas. Dresscode in japanese tournaments isn’t that strict like in the west and something called „jacket mma” developed in Japan, it’s when judo, karate or jiujitsu players are fighting in their uniforms in mma ruleset. Additionaly, this isn’t pure Kyokushin style, it seems to be some local kyokushin offshot.
Nope, that is how traditional karate works. Nothing mixed in it. The strategy, the form, it's very karate. It's most likely that you're the one who couldn't distinguish between the olympic focused WKF karate with the traditional karate such as the JKA for shotokan karate and the more traditional okinawan karate.

In my opinion MMA fighters lose control really fast and get very emotional which can cause to lose control and get enraged faster, which it plays great for KArate fighters who are trained to endure a lot of pain.

Sorry but that guy is not an mma fighter. First off its clear "mma guy" had no clue on what he was doing his whole body was way to stiff. The karate guy realised right from the start that the other guy had no real experience and barely any training he took control early on and set the pace for the match so mad respect to him and his style.

MMA fighter needs to pick those hands up, three nearly consecutive head kicks should not be landing on you. There are no takedowns, so there’s no reason to have a low guard since you won’t need to sprawl.

They brought a trash so called mma fighter and got him with an experienced karate guy. The mma guy has terrible boxing and his shin is high up, he has no kicks. I could only assume he must be a grappler. But the nigga didn't even shoot any proper takedowns, didn't show any skill in wrestling and even when he realized he wasn't gonna win a kicking match with the karate guy he didn't go all in and try to take him down. MMA vs karate 9 /10 MMA Wil win. You can even tell by the cage and organization that the quality of fighters ain't that great

People in the comments don’t understand that it is Japan. Tournaments like this are very popular, it’s not „vs match”. Both of them are MMA players and both of them might be karatekas. Dresscode in japanese tournaments isn’t that strict like in the west and something called „jacket mma” developed in Japan, it’s when judo, karate or jiujitsu players are fighting in their uniforms in mma ruleset.
Additionaly, this isn’t pure Kyokushin style, it seems to be some local kyokushin offshot.

Nope, that is how traditional karate works. Nothing mixed in it. The strategy, the form, it's very karate. It's most likely that you're the one who couldn't distinguish between the olympic focused WKF karate with the traditional karate such as the JKA for shotokan karate and the more traditional okinawan karate.
